We posted about new Teairra Mari material a couple weeks ago, but here’s a new track from her upcoming album entitled “Hunt 4 U.” Even though I haven’t really been digging the way his label has tried to promote him (with all the fake candid photos, etc.), I am actually digging this song for Teairra. Musically, it’s different from what she was doing on the first album, but I actually think the sound is a lot more mature for her. It’s got that pop potential that she needs to be relevant in music today.

“This Is Why I’m Hot” rapper Mims is doing his best to make a splash back onto the scene with former Destiny’s Child bandmate, LeToya Luckett, who is also working on a new album to drop sometime in ’09. Of course, I thought Mims was going to be a one-hit wonder, but it looks as though they labelmates have come together with this new track to begin the promo trail for his new album, which will drop sometime next year. Although it’s not really my cup of tea, I can definitely see this song getting spins. It’s a pretty radio-friendly track. Hopefully it will garner Luckett some buzz too for her new single.

As I’ve stated before, I’ve never really been a huge fan of Plies; sometimes his music is just a little too much to listen to, everything always seems to be really sexually explicit. However, on this track, I can definitely see how people would love it. With Ashanti on this hook, as well as the sample of Babyface’s “Two Occasions,” I can see the clubs and radio eating this new J.R.-produced single up. I can’t really see myself jamming to this song, but I won’t lie, this is another track that will make for good radio play.

Is she serious? I hope this wasn’t a contender for songs that will make the final cut of Cassie’s new album, which is set to drop sometime in ’09. With the failure of her single, “Official Girl,” which surprisingly featured Lil’ Wayne, she needs to come a little harder than this for material. I was interested to see what direction this song would go with it’s minimalist, retro production. It sounds like The Dream is responsible for this as well (you can hear him on backgrounds). Nice try, Cassie, but we’re not buying it…
Teairra is about the only one of this list I have some interest in. She has a pretty good voice. I hope she gets the right material this time. She was 17 back when she was with Roc but all that profanity wasnt appropriate.

(Plies feat. Ashanti – Want It, Need It) I agree with u brain Piles is too sexually explicit. The track is alright, nothing special. All his songs sound the same to me. Love Ashanti though.
(Cassie – Summer) Not feeling her music at all. Cant believe she is still around. She should stick to modelling. I like her and all but she cant sing to save her life. Music sounds budget. Diddy get over it, her looks will not sell her album or single alone! She needs to have talent.

I think Ryan Leslie is sticking it to Cassie b/c the production on this album is nowhere near as hot as the last album. I liked Official Girl, but it didn’t do well and that seems to be the best song I’ve heard so far. For a moment I thought the “Choreographer” song was hers, but I guess Ryan found him a new Cassie in “Ari”
I love LeToya Luckett and I’m glad she’s getting her voice out there, eventhough it’s on this weak ass Mims track, she sounds good.
I like the Teairra Mari song, I never heard it and I saw the photos from the vid shoot and just had to give it a listen.
I’m not a big fan of plies either, b/c of his lyrics and he just seems to like to sound cheap. And this song with Ashanti says it all, even her vocals sound cheap. I know it’s gonna do good on radio and the charts so big ups to her for that.
Didn’t listen to the first 2 and I can see Plies getting major air time with this one and someone please tell Cassie to fall back just because you look good doesn’t mean you can sing.

@34 I highly doubt people are “hating” on Cassie. It is plain to see that she is horrible at singing and dancing. She does not have it and people are not stupid, they are going to keep it real. She obviously was given an opportunity to make music because she is beautiful but obviosly people are looking beyond her beauty and are calling her out because she basically sucks. That song is garbage, she can bring in the hottest producers and work with them and have them do tracks for her but SHE CANNOT SING and has no feeling whatsoever. If she sounds this bad after being in hiatus for so long then sorry to say but she will never be as great as those around her want to be. The Cassie song sounds awful. It was a waste of money to produce such a lackluster song. I mean she can carry a note and we see that carrying a note can get you far in this industry (Rihanna). The Teairra Mari song is nice, but I don’t know if radio will play it in heavy rotation. I like Letoya’s vocals on the Mims song. Not a fan of his music, but Letoya does make the song.

the teairra song sounds like everything else out now: “Halo” Beyonce, a couple of rihanna songs like, “Live your life” and “rehab”
the instrumentals, a lot of the harmonies, and the delivery is the same. Exactly the same, it doesn’t even take a good ear for music to hear that it’s all the same song. lol

it irks me to no end when ppl assume all plies rap about it sex…..ppl who dont even listen to his albums……yeah the record company releases all the songs targeted to females as singles (which i hate cuz it makes him seem 1 sided) but he speaks on other stuff as well……I’ve sent several videos/songs this year to this site to post of Plies music (that actually doesnt have sex as a topic) but they never got posted….he has a song called FAMILY STRAIGHT that he recently made a video for off his new album that came out last week…..songs like that, which speak on real issues ppl can relate to, are only good for youtube, his myspace and website….i truly wish his label would put forth an effort to push those songs as singles….(he has numerous other NON sex related videos on his youtube page)….this ashanti track is nice but to me, its other songs on his album that would be better singles….
