@ 48.. I am a registered Nurse and yes cold sores are a form of herpes, (Herpes Virus Simplex 1). Too many people are ignorant and don’t know that 95% of the population has herpes, either born with it or got it from some place or another.

The form of herpes to watch out for is Herpes Simplex 2, which is genitial herpes.

So yes if you ever had a cold sore you most likely been exposed to the Herpes Virus Simplex 1 and will most likely test positive for Herpes if administered a blood test.

To Prissy Since 1908: Cold Sores ONLY comes from Herpes Simplex 1. The only way they can come from something you eat or drink is if someone th Herpes simplex 1 ate or drank from it first. So you might wanna get your Google on.

To LALA: If she has a cold sore, she DEFINTELY has Herpes Simplex 1.

And I hate to burst your bubble (or your bump,lol) but most people including children have it, and it comes from anything from kissing relatives to drinking after someone. It’s the genital Herpes (Simplex 2) that will have you messed up!

Cold sores may look nasty and embarrassing but you must understand that some people can’t help it when they get it. As a child I used to get these all the time and no one could understand why. I wasn’t a nasty person. I wasn’t messing around and I can’t think of anything else I could have done to get these other than being a normal child.

I was once told that I could be eating too much salt. If that’s the case then sodium definetly doesn’t affect everybody the same way. I know some real saltaholics and this doesn’t happen to them.
