Last night was truly monumental. Didn’t necessarily care for Michelle’s dress at the inauguration, but her dress for the ball was better. I’m not a Beyonce fan, at all, so when I saw them about to take their first dance, and heard her voice I was immediately disappointed. (she really ruined the moment for me). lol. But overall the night was great. I’m still amazed when I look up at our next president and I see someone that looks like me, and to see the hope that he inspires in people. Truly amazing!

Historical day for everyone. I love what the Obama’s represent. They looked like they were meant for one another. I’ve never been more proud to be an American than I was yesterday. Everyone was beautiful last night.

I think Michelle looked BEAUTIFUL and Barack looked so Handsome!! They are so classy and full of grace. I see God’s blessing upon them and I know Barack will be a great president. Everything yesterday was SO nice and I am proud to see people who look just like me in such a position. I never thought I would see the day.. But it goes to show you that all you’ve got to do is dream, Work hard, believe and take refuge in God. Yesterday, was a realization of the dream that our ancestors fought and died for and I’m sure they are looking to the earth and would not take back their struggles because its all so worth it…

I challenge our generation to be as daring as we once were as a people.. I wish for our generation to quit hating on each other and unify ourselves like back in the old days because together we could get so much more accomplished….

May God Bless and Keep the Obama’s in his care.

I love President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama, they have consistently showed that they embody the characteristics of what true leaders should be……Humility and willingness to serve. My prayers are with them throughout the presidency term and that God continues to bless them.

Our President and First Lady looked stunning last night. Michelle is just a ball of decadence and class. She was born to be the First Lady and Barack - the President! The two of them as a couple just give off an heir of resilience. I absolutely love the fact that Mrs. Knowles - Carter had the notable honor of serenading them with the song for their first dance. She too looked incredibly beautiful though I didn’t expect anything less. Her voice resonated and spoke volumes to our new First Husband and Wife.

Yayyyy America! Yes we did! Now the real deal begins!!

I think Beyonce did an AMAZING job!!! She killed it. And I loved that she had to hold back her tears at the end. I am so proud of her for that. No one could have dont a better job or been more perfect to sing for their first dance. Although Barack can’t dance (lol) him and Michelle always look so in love and happy. I agree with Michelle- I have NEVER been more proud to be an American!!!!!

If you weren’t able to attend you truly missed something special. Michelle and Obama are a beautiful couple. She looked beautiful….

Her dress was made by a 26 year old from Parsons School of design in NY. Usually people are paid to wear designer dresses and Michelle being the classy woman she is put a young aspiring desinger on the map last night. My only wish was that the dress didn’t have the train for easier movement when they danced.

People from all over the world were filled with kindness toward one another, meeting new people and sharing the excitement. The parties were awesome celebrations. It was an honor for any celebrity to be invited to perform or speak and EVERYONE looked beautiful. If you weren’t changed by this experience either in person or watching on television then you probably are part of the problem and not the solution.

Barack is so obviously smitten with Michelle after all these years - so adorable.

It was a great day! Our new president is great! Michelle dress was great, Beyonce sang great, Mary did great!

Mariah’s voice is not what it use to be…she can no longer hit the notes that she use to. Oh well, I still ♥ her. Alicia’s voice sounded a little off, but I would have really needed to hear more of her to determine the truth. Shakira  NO! She sounded bad at the Lincoln Memorial concert and last night!

This was most defiantly a beautiful thing to have the privilege of watching. I think Beyonce did an amazing job for our President and First Lady. She didn’t over sing or make it about her so people who are saying she made it about her are truly incorrect. I think she was a perfect choice and gave the perfect backdrop for the Obama’s first dance. I read on another site that B was supposedly lip syncing and you can clearly tell if you actually watched it, she was actually singing. WHY would someone who can actually SING have to lip sing?! O, well this isn’t about my girl B, it’s about history being made and I’m also so proud to be an American.

Michelle looked elegant and classy as always. I love her style. And yes, she’s going to be in the records next to Jacki O! And Obama was about to cut a rug, I’m telling you. He was getting it. And I just admire the way he looks into his WIFES eyes and she looks into his, like they were meant for each other.

Such a beautiful family and their daughters looked amazingly cute yesterday with their coats and accented scarves and gloves. So sweet!

God Bless the Obama family and keep them underneath your wings!!

I actually missed the Beyonce performance but from what I hear she did a good job. Michelle and Barak have really changed the way I look at black love. Is it possible to have someone as openly committed and yet strong like Barak? Can women (especially) African American women be as submissive yet strong like Michelle appears to be? They seem to have a bond that God created which nothing in this world can break. They are not perfect but love truly can heal everything!

Ok, as someone who attended the Swearing - In ceremony (with the other 2 million people), I have to say that I was kind of pissed that Jay-Z, Beyonce, Solange, and Puff Daddy were seated up in the dias(sp). I really felt that there were other people who have been through the struggle or who may never have had the chance to experience something even remotely uplifting. Someone more deserving. I really do feel they should have been seated on the lawn where they belong. In addition, the people that were standing around me (young and old, black and white) most I did not know…were not impressed, there was a muted ackward silence when Jay-Z and family were shown on the screen. Solange…really…does she even know who the Texas Governor is?….the feeling was, Jay-Z and Beyonce elbowed their way into the ceremonies when noone really asked them to participate. For example, Beyonce singing “At Last” during the President and First Lady’s dance. For Real? over Etta James? How much more elbowing did Beyonce do. Anyway, that is my two cents….I am entitled to my opinion and now I will go to the gym and work out to Jay-Z and Beyonce ;)

I think everything was nice and classy, I love the first couple. they really have grace and poise. and you can really tell they are truly in love.
I didn’t get to see the beyonce performance.. the whole time yesterday is like i was numb.. i was happy but i was also very scared and nervouse for them.. when they were walking the parade i was so scared someone might shoot them..
anyway history is made. we have a black president now lets see if he can really make a change, im willing to do my part to make this world a better place.

I love Barack and Michelle…they looked picture perfect, but they still seemed real…unlike the person that sung for them. I think Stevie Wonder should have sung ‘Overjoyed’ for the first dance…beautiful and appropriate lyrics for them. ‘At Last’ is more of a wedding song for a new couple!?!?!?! But they seemed happy and that’s all that matters really…Congratulations Barack and Michelle!!!!

I commend Michelle for using an unknown designer and putting her on the map, that was a great thing for her to do and she looked stunning last night, as did Barack. This is there moment not Beyonce’s!

This is why I didnt think they should have let her perform, even though she did a good job with not oversinging, there was still far too much attention placed on her. At the end of the day its Barack and Michelle’s moment, it was there chance to shine not hers! And the emotional tears she gave were just another way to keep the camera on herself not again, she’’s a limelight hogger- won’t even let the President get his moment.

Very nice. I did not know that Mariah and Alicia was going to be there. Looks like they all had a blast.

I really like Michelle but I wish she would spruce up her wardrobe a bit. Just because you’re first lady doesn’t mean you should look stiff and frumpy. I’m looking at her right now at the national prayer service and she’s dressed like June Cleaver. I’ve noticed she wears flats and low heeled shoes a lot but I think it’s because she doesn’t want to tower over Barack.

Good luck Barack and Michelle and God bless.

@ Confucius08

Why single out Jay, Bey, Solo, and Puff? Did you miss Oprah, Muhammad Ali and the other celebs? They were there for a reason. Jay, Bey, and Diddy all campaigned for Barack, and Oprah supported him so maybe that was the campaign’s way of thanking them. Also, the Obamas personally selected Bey to serenade them last night, and Etta James is not the original performer of At Last. She covered it just like Bey. Enjoy your workout

Confucius08, you know if you had been invited (or had the opportunity) to participate in a historical moment, you wouldn’t turn it down either. everyone would have just had to have been looking at me and each other like “wtf is she doing here”, cus if i could i woulda jumped at the chance haha. but i do agree, i wonder why they couldn’t get etta to do “at last”. but we don’t need beyonce doing “crazy in love” or some other inappropriate mess so i guess that classic will have to do.

you know what, now that i think of it, it would have been nice to have some of the old school singers performing. the whole thing would have had that “look how far we’ve come” vibe. but this was nice too.

Lets all get to work and be the people that God is calling us to be. Lets stop all the hating, because we all no that if we could we would love to have some of beyonces success.

Bey did a good job, but it was not her single night. It was the Obamas, it was all of the people who struggle, and it DAMN SURE WAS OUR ANCESTORS WHO WENT THROUGH HELL JUST TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE. I know my great grandmother is proud as hell. It’s time for a change, so let this man shine and lead America to great new hopes. Everyone should be thanking their ancestors and those who made it possible.

Oh, and I really commend Michelle for giving an up and coming designer the chance to show off their work. She is amazing and I’m pretty sure who ever it was is very greatful to have the honor.

I Think it was a slap in Etta James face she is still living she should have song her own song. President Obama and First Lady look great and that they should have been the only one in the picture but Bey she has to take over all the time and she wasn’t holding no tear back if she was going to cry she would have she was thinking a bout herself and I am not hating on Bey sometime you how to step back and let someone else shine. …*opps* but with people like Stevie Wonder, and Aretha there, Legends of their generation why they would want Bey to sing their first song dont get me wrong not taking nothing away from Bey I mean who doesn’t know she’s one of the biggest stars today but like some else stated something like Over joyed, or Ribbon in the Sky would have been great however thinking about it I think the choice may have been more for the many messages of the title
“AT LAST”.. as in At last our time has come, at last all men are equal..just a thought Now having Etta James herself blow it would have been more powerful for a number of reasons but maybe she don’t still have her pipes…just a thought..anywhoo
MY PRESIDENT LOOKS LIKE ME…everything else means NOTHING!

By the way, everyone realizes the Obamas actually ASKED Beyonce to sing for them, right? They are actually fans of hers, Barack admitted to having some of her music on his i-pod during the campaign. They also have young daughters that probably like her.

She could have turned them down but why would she? She played Etta in a movie and recorded the song for a soundtrack, she has a history with the song. Also, the Neighborhood Ball was about the people, especially young people that supported his campaign. All the artists were “hip” and for the young folks. Why drag old ass Etta up there?

I was surprised Denzel Washington’s old behind was able to sneak in there.

It was a most beautiful event so lets not turn it into our usual Beyonce/Mariah hatathons we tend to have around here. I thought Beyonce sounded beautiful and just her emotion when she was done like she just wanted to burst out crying was AMAZING. I mean she was so overwhelmed because this is a moment in hostory and she will be remembered for singing for their first dance for years to come.

Alicia Keys vocals were very disappointing for teh first time. She shouted No One from top to bottom. It was really terrible. Mariah made it through and swung it home at the end. Stil shaky at time but she looked AMAZING. And for the first time she wasnt too stiff. She was even dancing in teh group performance. I was like someone bought some WD40!!!

Wasnt sure if Shakira should have sung that song!!!

The Obamas were beautiful and romantic. It’s amazing how class and beauty were demonstrated from the Obamas, but the uneducated will always make this a thing of “entertainment” (Rihanna versus Beyonce) PITIFUL. Michelle is the new role model for what black women should aspire to be, and what they can be. I believe as a people we have always had class, someone just needed to remind the world that we did.

Yesterday was truly surreal. I watched it ALL DAY LONG. Could not get enough of our new President and First Lady. I thought Michelle looked AMAZING both in her day/swearing in outfit and in her inaugural ball gown. Simply stunning. And the first dance was just beautiful. They are so in love and for them to conclude this long journey with “At Last” was very fitting. That moment brought me to tears. And no, it wasn’t a Beyonce momemt. As much as I love Bey, NOTHING could have taken the shine off the first couple last night. They were radiant.

I say for 2009 you all stop with this hate/love for Beyonce.

Whatever she does or didn’t do just get over it already. She’s a perfomer. She’s not God. Cut it out already.

Why do you care whether she’s singing the first dance, or not singing the inaguration song or whatever. It’s really none of your business.

All of you who thinks she walks on water and the one’s who are constantly putting her down: GET A LIFE!

Please leave your hate in 2008. The focus is supposed to be on Barack and Michelle. They asked Beyonce to perform and she did a great job! 2009 is supposed to be a year for change. So why don’t you stop hating and channel your negative energy into something positive..like volunteering.

Anyway yesterday’s events were amazing and history was made :)

President Obama genuinely loves that woman and his family…you can see it in their interactions. He is always holding her hand and they always have something to exchange between one another. I hear some people say they are faking and all that other nonsense, well if they are they are some damn good actors.

There were so many people from different backgrounds, music genres and whatnot there on their behalf, and I’m sure the Obamas had something to do with that….I thought that was so wonderful.

WTH are ya’ll talking about Beyonce for? The only people taking attention away from the Obamas are the same people complaining about Beyonce taking attention away from the Obamas.

Seriously, no reason to ruin a beautiful occasion by complaining about the person singing.

It was a beautiful, inspiring historical event all about unity and possibilities. There is no reason to make a fuss about petty sh*t.

Anyways, I thought it was beautiful. The unity and heart on display that day was amazing. I do fear that people will turn on him though. I’ not looking forward to that day, and I honestly hope it doesn’t happen, but people are people.

I love the whole ball except for…Jay-z. Whackest performance of the night. Didn’t think he should have done that song (didn’t eve know the song). He should have do “Show Me What You Got” that would have been more appropriate for me.

Mr. President and First Lady Obama looks so beautiful together. I love that they are the new poster couple for black love. He truly loves his wife. I want a husband like he someday. Did you see the way he was dancing OoOo la la. He is so SEXY.

Beyonce killed it! Love her, love her, love her. So sick of people acting like she ain’t shit. No one right now can hold a flippin’ candle to Beyonce. No one else could sing that song like she did. Rihanna…no….Keyshia…no….Alicia (might have)….but no! Beyonce is the best. You go BEE!!!

Mariah….wow…..girl I don’t know what to say. That wasn’t a good job at all. I mean I could tell it was Mariah but if I had closed my eyes I couldn’t, My mom says she’s pregnant and she most have not have been feeling well that night. I say she’s older and just had a bad preformance.

The Obama’s are know for helping people out. Besides, Jayz, Beyonce and Puffy helped campaign. Solange, she just does what she always does; ride her sister’s fame. I’m sure Matthew tried like hell to get them to let her perform too. So lay off, there are some perks to being Beyonce’s sister. So much for not wanting to be tied to them.

Anyways, Michelle and Obama are so freaking cute together. LOL! I was cooing over them the whole time they were dancing. I love to see black people in love, truely and genuinely. I’m proud of myself. At first, I wasn’t going to vote for him because of his name, so I sided with Hilary. Then, when it came down to it, I sat my butt down and listened to his speeches and studied his platform. Everyone who is getting mad at Bee saying that it was not her moment, it was the Obamas, should not blame her. Blame everyone on this post that keeps bringing up her name more than the Obamas. It is not her fault that she is talked about so much. Also if she was asked to perform the song by the family, why wouldn’t she take the honor and opportunity? So she should have turned it down and said “no i’m going to let someone else do it because people on blogsites think I do too much. Or no, Etta is still alive so I’m going to let her sing it?” It’s a huge moment and honor and anyone who had the priveledge to be apart of it I am sure would not have turned it down. Beyonce does not have the godly power to make her name come off the tongues of everyone, unfortunately her success and drive forces that to happen (apparently). Should she apologize? Let’s just knock it all off. What a beautiful moment last night, for the country, for the Obamas, for Beyonce, and for everyone else who was apart of it and got to experience it. So what.

The ceremony couldn’t be hampered by the celebrities who were so obviously and blantantly attempting to get their shine by seating near the President. They were invited , they had to pay extra. But, if making themselves look important is a need they have to fulfill why hate. I’m not impressed because those celebtrities just made themselves look stupid as far as I’m concern and it’s obvious that their charitable deeds are meant to glorify themselves and not God or humanity. Even, Oprah had the decency and class to sit with the every day people. Denzel and Magic Johnson, Cusak, Hoffman, are they serious? Even Steven Spielberg? And if they listen to or read anything Obama has said, he makes a point to tell people that he doesn’t watch t.v. and he’s not impressed by superficial garbage. Our President is about being authentic. If you pay attention, Obama seems more relax around everyday people. I highly doubt Washington D.C. will turn into Hollywood 2.0 like it was under the Clinton Admin.

As far as Michelle and Obama, I am truly in love with this couple. lol. He has to be the most sexiest husband in the world. The way President Obama looks at his wife, whispers in her ear, constantly has to be near her, is just so awe. The cutiest moment of the day was when they were dancing at the Parade, love that. But the sexiest moment was at the Celebration that aired on ABC 7. That was so hot, when they began dancing and he was kissing her, looking into her eyes, and he really started to “enjoy being close to her”, she had to pull him away. That was hot. And where is this that he can’t dance, I don’t see that, but I do see a sophisticated man, that isn’t going to make himself look like an uncivilized man, grinding on his wife in front of the world, that would be tacky. And that little dance he does, well he’s playing around. I’m sure that when the Obamas are in private, he really dances with her. I loved and was moved by the honesty and real emotion when Kerry Washington and MJB cried as the Obamas were dancing. As a black woman , watching a black President dance with his black wife, had to be moving , especially for two black women in the entertainment industry.

The whole Beyonce thing , well she did an excellent job, I was focused on the Obamas. But, Jay Z made me upset, he could have atleast wrote a rap about them, and not talk about his girl.

I do indeed like Beyonce…I can’t deny her talent, energy and goal of being an icon someday, however I am definetley getting to the point some of these “haters” are at. I admire the talent but I’m starting to feel like she is a big enough star to not have to have the spotlight everywhere… I mean whether or not she sang At Last. she would still be beyonce… It just seems like she is a bit greedy and I think it is ashamed that no one sees her lime light as maybe, overdone. She is just turning into that person in class that is constantly kissing the teachers ass to pass out papers, or watch the class when they leave. Yes she is one of the most talented female vocalist for our generation, but that doesn’t mean that the “game” has to become just Beyonce… U will sell regardless, so why hogg the lime light from the artist who need the exposure?

Don't Be Churlish....

@130..

I hope and pray that you’re joking. It is not Beyonce’s fault that she appeals to many people causing her to be exposed everywhere. Obama invited her to sing for them, she didn’t pay her way to the top. How can you say she’s hogging the lime light? Is it her fault all these other artists are just played out or just straight up unappealing? Beyonce has many fan, and a ginormous fan base, you may not want to see her every step you take but that is you darling. Your feelings don’t apply to everyone around you. Beyonce doesn’t run into blog posts and insist on everyone to talk about her when Obama gets elected, that is our decision. You can choose to reply, following along, or just ignore it. People want to talk about Beyonce whether it is out of love/hate or “I just don’t care”. If people are really tired of Beyonce like they claim they are, they would stop addressing her fans, stop entering her posts, AND HUST STOP TALKING ABOUT HER.

If they claim not to like her, why is it so hard to not mention her? I don’t get it, I really don’t.

Words can’t describe how beautiful this all is, from Obama beating Hilliary and winning the Democratic nomination to his swearing in. It is all truly overwhelming in the most amazing way. I know that President Obama will lead the nation like no other American President has ever, while upholding a positive perception of African Americans. I’m truly blessed to have witnessed this.

On the other hand, I KNEW that as soon as he won the nomination, Beyonce would somehow be involved. Someone mentioned earlier that the Obama’s asked her to perform, but I heard that she offered. Either way, we’re oversaturated with her and I was very dissapointed to see her up there. In reading the news today, I think I have read more about her singing the song of their first dance then the first dance itself. I don’t think she tried on purpose to make the moment about her, but that’s what happened. She sang well, yes. But it should not have been about her. And that interview only proved how volunerable and illiterate she is! Now we know why she does not do more candid interviews. I wish she would go retire or something. Lastly, someone should have told her not to wear such a formal dress (loooog train). Again, you don’t go to someone else’s ball, dressed as if its your own (JLo did it too.) UGH! Away with Beyonce.

The entire Inauguration Day was monumental and awe-inspiring! And the Obamas make a wonderful couple. Barack and Michelle Obama are clearly very much in love, and the obvious affection between them is real (not just a “put-on” for the cameras). This is what you call “Black Love at its finest.”

I love both of Michelle’s Inauguration Day dresses. Her ball gown is just beautiful. Alot of the intricate detailing on the dress didn’t show up over the TV cameras, but when you see photos of the dress up-close, you realize just how gorgeous it is! And Michelle Obama has the perfect stature and presence to carry of this type of gown.

Overall, an absolutely wonderful day (and evening), from start to finish!

When you see pictures of Michelle’s dress
It’s actually cute. When I was watching
it in video it didn’t look that good. It’s cute :)

Oh and Mariah lost her voice.
I think others can sing her classics better
than her now. That’s what you get when
you don’t live to your full potential.
She purposely stopped singing strong and
bold like she use to and stuck to singing
whispery. All in the process she lost the
ability to sing her powerful songs. Even
the whispery ones. Smh. If you don’t
use it you’ll LOSE it.

I just think YOU are the ones so focused on her that even something as beautiful as the dance between Obama and Michelle couldn’t take your mind off of her. Im not a huge Bey fan nor am I a hater but in NO WAY did she overshadow the pres and the first lady. The emotion and true love in their eyes when you saw their faces, if Beyonce overshadowed that for you then obviously your hate for her is TRULY extreme. I thought she did a good job and she seemed more real than I had ever seen her because you could really see the emotion on her face, didnt same fake at all. I think at last was an appropriate song. I know some people said thats a wedding song but considering AT LAST we have a black president, well I think that is why the song was picked.

Beyonce needed to put a dam bra on because nipples aren’t in vogue at such an occasion. Truly tastless!!

I also just want to add that maybe the reason why Etta didnt sing her own song was because isn’t she like 70 years old? I highly doubt she sounds the way she use to. I personally think Aretha buthered her song at the inaguaration. Once you get a certain age, your voice is not gonna be what it use to be. I dont care how good of a singer you were in your day. Beyonce like her or not, was the best choice to sing that. Even Mariah Carey doesn’t sound the way she use to.

I would like to read more about the actual dance than Beyonce’s performance. I also noticed that most artist sung their own songs except for Beyonce, I think the reason is Beyonce does not have any classics to sing or something that would have fit that occassion. Beyonce is being mentioned because this blog chose to also highlight Beyonce as if it was her night. I do think that she asked to be apart of the celebration, Obama’s committee chose Beyonce because he once talked about being a fan……Obama cant insult Beyonce by saying “I didnt choose her the committee did” so he went along with it. Beyonce made this event about her by requesting to perform during most of her interviews, if Obama really liked her or if they were friends then she would have gone straight to him and not the media to put the bug in their ears. Visual she is tiring us out! Beyonce rode the train into the city like Obama, Beyonce got her dress made for the event and it ended up looking a mess with her nipples hanging out, and she revealed the song she was singing for the dance after the committee wanted to keep it tight lipped….Attention go getter.

@144
I feel you on that, when you reach a certain age you voice changes especially if your not keeping it trained. On the other hand I feel like it was their moment, and if Etta would have sang it still would have been nice. I also get how others feel that maybe a more seasoned artist that went through the struggle should have performed, lets say Yolanda Adams, Gladys Knight, Patti, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills could have sang HOME…..its already past but I wanted to see some old school up in there. I think many think that Beyonce was the best choice because the media makes it seem like she is the one black artist that we have. They could have even chosen Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Jennifer Hudson and so on. Most forget that their were artist before Beyonce, Beyonce is not the only artist who can sing.

People need to get a grip. This ball was a celebration of the youth who came together to get him elected. He could not have done it it if we hadn’t come out to vote, and this was their way of saying thanks. They went to something like 10 Inaugural balls last night. I’m sure they had one where the stuffy, old white people could enjoy themselves (not that they would).

BEYONCE PLEASE RETIRE ALREADY!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009 /

I don’t know why it’s sooo hard for some of these DIED HARD BEYONCE FANS to believe that Beyonce OFFERED and ASKED and ASKED to be part of the Inauguration and then Neighborhood Ball. Beyonce think she is slick…everytime you saw her on tv she was always throwing it out there that she would love to be part of the Inauguration and the Ball…she even said it will be HONORED if they want her or need her. Hmmm it’s even for her to act all desperate for an INVITE when you know the President of the United States is a fan of yours….but it doesn’t mean you’re on his mind and you will be his first choice. Actually, Jennifer Hudson was his first choice…she was the one who was suppose to sing and not Beyonce. But when Beyonce got the word that JHud will be a NO SHOW Beyonce had her own little tricks up her sleeve and shoved her way into it..By buggin the hell out of Obama’s COMMITTEE smh

Anyway, I am VERY proud to have a Black family in the white house, but that does not make me ignorant to the self indulged, stab anyone in the back to get ahead, fake ass, fronting tail, high maintenance, horse wearing, strip club dancing, manufactured to the ‘T’ barbie doll that is Beyaki! And even though I am sure The First Family eventually signed off on it, it was a PR move and she was not signed by the President, but by his people!!!

PS. I absolutely loved Michelle’s dress once I got to see her actually move in it throughout the night at all the balls! It was BEAUTIFUL! The Obamas are true inspiration!

At Last!” is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Orchestra Wives, starring George Montgomery and Ann Rutherford. It was first performed in the film and on record by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, vocal by Ray Eberle & Pat Friday. The song was a major hit for Miller, reaching number fourteen on the Billboard pop charts in 1942, and it soon became a standard. Nat King Cole recorded it in 1957 on his number one album Love Is the Thing. In 1960, it was covered by blues singer Etta James in a performance that improvised on Warren’s melody.
Please get your facts straight before denouncing Beyonce. I know it is easy to hate on someone so beautiful and talented, but please use your energy to uplift yourself and your community PLEASE

FACT: In 2007 Barack danced with Ellen to Beyonce’ s ”crazy in love”
FACT: Barack has Beyonce and Jay-Z in his i-pod
FACT: Barack took his 2 daughters to Beyonce concert
FACT: BARACK IS A BEYONCE FAN AND PERSONALLY ASKED HER TO PERFORM AT THE INAUGURATION.
FACT: jennifer was NEVER “confirmed” that she was asked to perform at the inauguration so apparently she wasn’t Barack’s first choice
FACT: Beyonce is the #1 black female artist of this generation which is why she performed and your favorite artist didn’t. get over it.

People on blogs are pathetic. The jealousy some of you have of Beyonce is sad. Beyonce is a well known international talented beautiful black woman and it was a huge honor for her to be remembered for this. Everyone is talking about her performance and the president and first lady first dance. Man that’s a beautiful thing.

People can be pathetic and type lies and hate on Beyonce all they want, but you will never be able to take this moment away from her. She is a part of history and she will be able to tell her kids about this some day. People are giving Beyonce so much praise over this on T.V so I guess what haters have to say on blogs dont really matter. She is still going to be remembered for this at the end of the day.

Btw congrats to Beyonce on her successful album, singles, golden globe nomination, forbes lists, singing for the president, etc. She is having an amazing year. Forget the haters, that is one talented successful beautiful woman.

Actually Beyonce begged numerous times to perform for them, and so did Jay-Z, they were both told no. But I guessed they persuaded him. But you know Obama’s girl is Jennifer Hodson. And yeah they made it a big thing for Rihanna singing but we didn’t see her. Whatever!! For the record Beyonce asked and asked to be apart of that, and no she did not campaign for Obama, she said it herself.

^^^you are a pathetic liar. Beyonce and Jay-Z NEVER begged and begged. Post a video of them begging numerous times. I bet you can’t because that didn’t happen. Beyonce stated one time and one time only that she would love to perform at the inauguration at that was it. It was never confirmed that Jennifer was asked to perform so you can stop the lies about her being Obama’s first choice.

Like someone said earlier, I only go by FACTS and not he say/she say by pathetic bloggers. And it’s a FACT that Obama asked Beyonce to perform and is a fan of hers.

You pathetic haters can make up all the lies you want but it is still a FACT that Beyonce is going down in history for singing for the first dance of the first black president. She performed 3 times altogether so her haters can be in denial all they want but those are the facts. Beyonce made history. Deal with it.

“DONT BE CHURISH”
I see where ur coming from but I need u to understand that’s the reason why so many people are turned off by beyonce. As I said I truly do like her and respect her artistry. But when u have fans who make it seem like she is the best there ever was and will be, then thats when u start to turn people off of that artist. Everyone has there favorites, matters why they like them they do… But u dont have to go and discredit other artist to make ur artist seem so much better… The problem is u place her on a pedistal and completely forget what every other artist out there are contributing to the music industry. Grammy or not most artist have spent a lifetime trying to get where they are. I highly doubt n e body woke up one day and sung a song and was signed to a major label. SO STOP DISCREDITING EVERY OTHER ARTIST TO MAKE UR FAVORITE SOUND “SO MUCH BETTA” AND MAYBE PEOPLE WOULDNT HAVE AS MANY NEGATIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HER

Loved seeing The President and Mrs. Obama together. Though “Black Love” appears to be on it’s way out, seeing them together made it that more beautiful.

Was TOTALLY bummed to see Beyonce on stage as they danced their first dance. The man who sang for the Vice President and his wife, very appropriately, was off to the side WITHOUT a spotlight on him as he sang because it was THE VICE PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE’S MOMENT and not about the singer. Beyonce’ clearly wanted it to be about her.

And give me a break about her being emotional. You babies don’t understand Hollywood do you? Before she started singing I knew she was going to get emotional at the end. Celebs know how to get emotional at the right time for publicity reasons and you all got duped. I’ll bet most who believed the emotion was real also believe reality shows aren’t set up.

I can’t seem to escape Beyonce, which makes it worse. Magazines, comercials, radio, tv, movies, etc., this girls is being forced down our throats and it seems none can escape her.

People please stop HATING on Beyonce. Barack wanted BEYONCE not ETTA to sing for their first dance so why are you so angry with Bey???? And how in the world did she still the spotlight?! She didn’t over sing, her dress wasn’t extravagant, and she was not holding the video cameras. Please blame the people filming the ball for having Beyonce on the camera constantly. She can’t help it that she’s the best singer and performer at the moment. Who did you expect to sing for the first dance?? Ciara? C’mon. Can you stop the hate for a second and enjoy the moment? Michelle is the new role model for black women. She is Ivy League educated and she is the force behind the most powerful man in the world. Beyonce, someone who never even graduated from high school, can sit down. Please for the love of God black people lets start promoting and supporting the people in our community who are really about standing for something that doesn’t involve a microphone or a basketball. I am not a Beyonce fan. She sang at Bush’s inauguration too. She goes where the wind flows. I would have rather seen Bono before her at least he is trying to help Africa…our homeland. And I would have definitely wanted to see any other black artist who actually lived through the civil rights movement than Beyonce. I love Barack and Michelle. All I can say is …FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
