Beyonce has been selected to sing for the Obama’s first Inaugural dance on this coming Tuesday according to reports released on yesterday:
WASHINGTON (AP) – Beyonce will sing for Barack and Michelle Obama’s first dance on inauguration night.
And the song? “Crazy in Love?” Her version of Etta James’ “At Last?”
The Presidential Inaugural Committee isn’t saying. “It is our hope that we can keep the song secret until the moment,” said spokeswoman Linda Douglass. SOURCE
The singer will be performing along with her husband Jay-Z, Will.i.am, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5 at the Inaugural Neighborhood Ball that is scheduled to air live on ABC Tuesday night.

some of you all sound so ridiculous arguing about where rihanna and beyonce will be performing. It is definitely an honor for both of them to even be performing at any inagural events. For them to even be included out of the hundreds of artists out there says alot. So trying to belittle rihanna for performing at the kids event, and arguing that beyonce is performing for the adults does not even make much sense. They are both there taking part at an historical event in our nations history, and that in an of itself is something to be proud of.

Bee’s performance at the ball receives most of the media attention because Bee’s name is a draw whether people want to admit it or not. Ri-Ri is also performing on the same day, but Beyonce draws alot of criticism and web traffic. That’s why Concrete loop felt the need to highlight her peformance. I didn’t hear one person criticize the fact that Ri-Ri’s name was only mentioned for one performance, but CL failed to highlight that she and Beyonce were performing on the same night with a host of other muscians. My argument is that we as a people need to stop acting like we can only have one famous black woman at a time. Just because someone is repeatedly mentioned by the media does not necessarily make them the hottest chick in the game, it just means that your name is a draw. I hate to make the comparison, its like Sarah Palin. Her name is a draw, but she by no means needs to be in the game. Just so happens Beyonce and Ri-Ri have special brands of talent.

Barack Obama and wife Michelle have elected singing sensation Beyoncé to belt out an American classic Tuesday night for their first dance as President and First Lady.
Obama also teed up the world’s greatest golfer, Tiger Woods, to fire up the gallery gathered for the inaugural’s opening concert Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial.
The two mega-celebs add extra wattage to the gathering of stars in Washington for Obama-related festivities, including A-listers like Bruce Springsteen and Denzel Washington.
Woods said he was “honored” to be given a speaking role at the “historic event” – the inauguration of the nation’s first black President.
Like many of his own monster drives, Woods told CNBC last fall, Obama’s White House win was “absolutely incredible.”
Woods, who has been out of the public eye while rehabbing the knee he injured during his dramatic U.S. Open playoff win last summer, told the cable network that Obama “represents America.”
“He’s multiracial. I was hoping it would happen in my lifetime,” he added.
Beyoncé, appearing on “Entertainment Tonight,” spoiled inaugural planners’ hopes of keeping the Obamas’ song selection under wraps.
“To sing ‘At Last’ while [the Obamas] have their first dance is a dream come true,” she revealed.
“At Last,” a 1941 standard made famous by blues singer Etta James, has been reinterpreted over the years by a slew of artists, including Beyoncé, who recorded her version in last year’s film “Cadillac Records.”
Obama has confessed to busting a move to Beyoncé’s tunes.
“I’m sort of hip to the younger stuff. You know, like Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy in Love.’ That’s a good song to dance to,” he said.
Meanwhile, Obama admitted yesterday that he’ll be under a lot of pressure to deliver a boffo inaugural address – from his girls.
Obama recounted to CNN last night a recent trip to the Lincoln Memorial with his wife and kids, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.
The future First Family was reading Lincoln’s second inaugural address, inscribed on the wall, when “Sasha looks up, and she says, ‘Boy, that’s a long speech. Do you have to give one of those?’” Obama said.
“I said, ‘Actually, that one’s pretty short. Mine may even be a little longer.’ At which point, then Malia turns to me and says, ‘First African-American President. Better be good,’” he said.
Earlier yesterday, Obama was in Ohio, where he tried to sell Americans on an $825 billion spending plan that he insists is needed to keep an already painful recession from worsening.

You know what, I may have to take a break from CL because all the stories are either about Beyonce or Rihanna. Frankly, that’s ridiculous. I showed such immense interest in this particular story because my black studies class is interested in the obsession surrounding Beyonce. Why do people feel that its necessary to defend a person they do not know? Why do some people take every opportunity to bash her? What does she represent that brings up so many strong emotions? Why does she somehow represent “us” as a people?
You know what, the more I get into this conversation, I realized something, there is a certain caliber of people that CL is starting to attract, and frankly, I have to deal with people who do not mind diverse opinions, and people who have stronger vocabs then the word, hater. I’m sure there were many artists who hoped to get the call but didn’t receive one. Why trivialize this event with PETTY competition and deciding that one event means one person is better than the other?.

#210 just because he picked her for the DNC perofrmance doesn’t mean she’s his #1 pick for everything obviously the hometown factor played a role in the selection as it was held in Chicago, he wasn’t even at the DNC the day of her performance. When asked who his favorite artist was of the current generation of singers Beyonce and Jay-Z were always his answers he never mentioned J-Hud same with Michelle, there’s even a story where he personally went up to her for an autograph a fund-raiser Bee attended for him (this was back in March 2007 for those who claim Bee only started supporting him at the end.) Michelle took their two daughters to Beyonce’s concert in 2007 and they got to go meet her back stage because she’s their favorite artist. Face it “begging” or not she was gonna get selected for something becuase the Obama family loved her from jump. Jennifer’s PR people already said there’s no truth to the claims that she was asked, and obviously she’s ready to perform again since she’s performing for the Superbowl and the Grammy’s.
Jscene, Yes success can come from the devil and from God. But who are you to determine where Beyonce’s success comes from? God? I think not. Let me tell you something about God. He is a gracious and merciful God. How many things have you done that you were not proud of? And I know self righteous people love to think that they are holier than thou. Just know this that all of the so called “bad” things Beyonce has done if she has asked for forgiveness, she will be forgiven and if she believes that Jesus died for her sins, she receives the same salvation as someone who believes that they are sinless. There is none righteous, no not one. Funny how I’ve never heard you say that one of your favorite artists have been “rewarded” by the devil. That was way back in March 2007, so those weho claim Bee didn’t support him until he was sure to win are wrong, she donated to his campaign over a year before he secured the Democratic nomination, and he was obviously a huge fan of hers (hence the story), so those who think he only picked he because she asked are lying to yourselves.

i like beyonce but people are far too head over heels for her, i mean grown as women and man willing to sell there ass for some beyonce love. grow up people this isnt about beyonce its about change in america, and barack and michelle. its crazy how people go hard for celebs, and what beauty will make people do. think about it if beyonce was that pretty you people would not be going hard defending her, and watching her every move how shallow can people become, let the obama shine, and beyonce take a back seat for once!!
Hey I have some bad news for you stans (and Beyonce)….unfortunately times have changed. Its 2009 and to be honest, an inauguration event such as this just does not weigh as heavily in importance as it would have say, 20, 30, 40 + years ago. Even with a black president, which yes, is VERY historical, but to be honest, that is ALL that will really be MEMORABLE enough to go down in the annals of time. Our society has basically seen and done it all (with the exception of a black president) so this “ICON” status that Beyonce wants….I’m sorry she missed this opportunity YEARS AGO, before she was even born. Nowadays, our society is too superfiicial to create icons….nowadays, you will simply be “remembered” and thats about it. And because of the way that Beyonce is so self centered, I am GLAD she didn’t get the Real Meat (THE Inauguration Ball). Yea, she has a lot of stans, but there is a lotta people starting a MOVEMENT against this chick….no matter what you stans say, for someone to have SO MANY haters, making SUBSTANTIAL POINTS against them (not just blind hating) that is NOT a good thing, and I doubt if it pleases Beyonce. That wears heavily on someones soul. But she deserves it. Omg, and by the way, Pleaaaaaaaaaaassse stop accusing everyone who criticizes her of being fat, ugly, or broke, its just not true! For you STANS, Bey APPEARS to have something that you are missing in our life,and whatever it is that a person is missing, when they see it in her, they latch on to it. LISTEN UP STANS WHO CLAIM WE HATERS ARE JUST “JEALOUS AND UNHAPPY) ITS FUNNY THAT I NOTICED IT WAS WHEN WAS DOWN AND DEPRESSED AND UNFULFILLED IN LIFE, THAT I LOVED BEYONCE! IT WASNT UNTIL I GREW INTO MY WOMANHOOD AND BECAME HAPPY IN MY OWN SKIN AND HAPPY WITH ACHEIVING MY GOALS, AND HAVING AN OVERALL HAPPY LIFE, THATS WHEN I STARTED TO NOT LIKE BEYONCE!! …the reason the stans accuse everyone on hating on Beyonce is mainly because, guess what? People do! People hate on what she has a lot of the time, and a lot of the time, it is based on jealousy….but guess WHY? BECAUSE BEYONCE’S WHOLE CHARACTER, DEMEANOR, ACTIONS, CAREER, APPEARANCE IS ALL ORIENTED TOWARDS INCITING AND CREATING JEALOUSY AND FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY IN HER PEERS!!! Think about it…her whole “swagga” is about makin you jealous of her… Yes, people hate on Beyonce, but it is a product of HER. I used to wonder why when I looked at Bey, she created feelings of inferiority in me…then I realized, THEY DO IT ON PURPOSE! She, and her camp, created the monster. The reason people stan so hard for her, is because deep inside they envy her, and feel inferior to her, so for them, Stanning makes them feel somehow like they are parallel to her, like they are “on her team”. I am not talking about the people who just go from message board to message board picking fights with “Bey Haters” for fun…they feel nuthin for Bey, they just like to fight….I’m talking about the young ladies that are REALLY dedicated to her cause….drag queens/trannies I give them a pass for loving Bey, cuz everyone needs a role model, I dont see any harm. And we know they really wanna be women anyway, so thats understandable. Plus, her style (especially her style during DIL is very trannyish, so you cant blame them). Anyway, another thing I’m tired of hearing is “Well Bey is makin that paper; she rich; she has more than you, blah blah blah”…Get this straight…Yes, when we sit at home watching tv and on our PC’s seeing her and Jay live it up on those yachts, mansions, limos, parties, YES it looks very good to us “common folk” and we feel like somehow our lives would be better and we would be happier if we had just one iota of what they had…but guess what? Money does NOT buy happiness. If it did, why would celebrities commit/attempt suicide, turn to drugs, get depressed? Think about it, if money were the answer, ALL CELEBERITIES WOULD BE HAPPYHAPPYHAPPY, Right? Money and material things do NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT make people happier or superior over YOU. Dont you think that Bey and Jay are USED TO the mansions, fine cars, extravagant trips, luxuries? Umm, yea. Its human nature to always want more of what you have, or to want what you cant have….to make it worse, they are driven by EGO. They will never rest. With all the money they have, and I know plenty of regular people that are wayyyyyy happier than Bey and Jay appear to be. I dont think Bey is happy…with all she has achieved compared to her peers, and she is still unfulfilled? Are you crazy?? At this point, I’d be happy to sit back on my laurels, sip Chardonnay, and cruise the Carribbean, not giving a damn if you remembered me as an icon or not!! But then again, I am a common young woman, who was blessed with the opportunity to GROW INTO MY WOMANHOOD, learn to make my own decisions, create the life I wanted for me…unlike Beyonce, who unfortunately is a beautiful puppet. Dance, puppet, dance. I do feel sorry for her. On that note I will close with why I feel sorry for her….think about it. This girl is not normal. Do you hear me? Who in their everloving, right mind, would COPY SO MANY PEOPLE!! To me, the Knowles treats Beyonces career like people who run the corner store, makin money off of ghetto folk by sellin incense and knockoff Louie Vuitton bags, and crap like that – Same Concept! And the glove, this is so obviously a desperate cry for HELP! She is like a snowball, rolling down the hill to herself, she feels she cannot stop at this point. But I think she wants to. I think the Knowles shoulda invested money and encouragement into her a good education; with all the drive Beyonce has, she coulda became a Doctor or Lawyer, and she probably woulda been happier because she still woulda had the PAYOLA, but also the “Normal Life” that she claims she wanted to have. She cannot act, by the way. Stay outta movies…She looks so sad nowadays. In closing, I love stans. Why? Because they are me. Even though they act like jackasses, a lot of them are probably not once you get em from behind the computer, plus, they are the common folk just like me. Please realize, STANS, STOP BRAGGIN ON BEYONCES WEALTH AND WHAT SHE’S ACCOMPLISHED; it dont mean nuthin to you, and it makes you sound stupid!!!! And true, NONE of us gain from hating or loving on a website, but if you can hate (on someone who brings it on themself)….why not? I’d rather hate for free, than kiss her ass for free. Plus, its more fun. Unlike stans and judgemental folk, I can keep it real as to my motives. I turned “hater” cuz I realized I was GYPPED. I brought into the Beyonce hype, and now I feel the way I do when you see sumthin you LOVE in the store, buy it, take it home, then find out it was cheaply made and a knockoff, and I want my money back! Go Alicia, go Rihanna, go J. Hud!! Lets support these REAL ARTISTS. Not people who just know how to do “Simon Says”. (Simon says, swing weave, shake ass, scream into mike, lol. Tlite, are you serious? Please stop the madness. If someone makes you feel inferior, that’s your problem not theirs. If she is confident then so be it. Other confident women wouldn’t be intimidated by another person’s success. It has nothing to do with being a stan or anything else. If you are a hard working individual and are successful, people will hate you because a lot of times they don’t have or don’t want to work as hard as you to be successful. That’s why you hear a lot of people say What did they do to deserve that. I look better than them. They dress tacky, etc. just to show people this is why they supposedly deserve what she has.
