Although as much material as possible was pushed out as singles from Mariah Carey’s latest album, E=MC², it seems as though she’s already hit the studio to begin recording music for a new project.
As you may have heard, Mariah is featured on The Dream’s new single, “My Love” from his forthcoming album, Love vs. Money. He was also responsible for Mariah’s #1 single, “Touch My Body.” The-Dream stopped by L.A.’s Power 106 with Big Boy In The Morning, and talked about his new album and the fact that he hadn’t gone to sleep yet because he was up all night with Mariah working on new material for her. Apparently, the two have been cooking up some heat for the new project.
This is pretty interesting. Even though E=MC² didn’t perform as well as Def Jam would have liked, they still managed to get a lot of singles and videos out of the album. It didn’t nearly top the success of Mariah’s Emancipation of Mimi but the new album still got Mariah her eighteenth #1 single, allowing her to top Elvis Presley.
I hope this new album finds Mariah some place differently. I think her mistake was trying to recreate the sound that gained her so much success on Mimi, but she fell a little short because the material wasn’t nearly as strong.
THE DREAM MOVES ALBUM TO MARCH
Speaking of The Dream, it seems as though his sophomore set, Love vs. Money, which was originally slated to release last December, and then rescheduled for February 17th release is being moved to March 3rd.
This change, too, comes right after they switch the single from the Lil’ Jon-produced “Let Me See the Booty,” to “Rockin’ That Shit” to the Mariah Carey-assisted “My Love,” which fans seems to really be liking. Apparently, a video is being shot for the new single soon.

I loooooooove Mariah, she’s crazy as hell but has bags and bags of talent. I liked both E=mC and Mimi so Im sure her new album will be as good if not better.
However I think her albums would have sold more if she didnt seem so dead during her performances. She moves less than a corpse when she performs, she wasnt like that on the Mimi tour- maybe shes taking meds to stop her from chasing rainbows again! lol

I am one of Mariah’s #1′s but I think she needs to put the mic down forever. She’s definitely losing her touch. Her voice is not as soothing as it use to be, and her songs are beyond wack now. I’m sorry MiMi, but if you release another album it would flop worst than your last. And plus, she’s getting a lot OLDER, she needs to start a family before it’s too late.
Mariah is making wack music to get play on radios etc! And i hope she dosent work with JD if you pay close attention his beats sound the same!

Its time she goes back to the Butterfly album with her music. Real, non overly commercial, modern R&B, introspective, BRILLIANT lyrics, and great videos.
I find TEOM to have weak melodies and lyrics, and vocally oversung at times, and hardly seems like a Mariah Carey album, thus I enjoy E=MC2 a lot more. The era sucked not only b/c of her voice, but mainly she picked Nick over her career and didn’t care about videos or promotion and then she became a zombie for awhile and not to mention the singles chosen.
Regardless, she needs to reach her creative peak, artistic maturity, and be brilliant again. She’s capable of a ton more and when she’s at her best, no one can touch her with lyrics and melodies.
Its fun, but she hasn’t made a full album that’s respectable since Butterfly.
Her voice has declined, a lot, but her performance at the Grammy thing last month said she had power left in her. And that’s no excuse for the below par stuff she’s doing otherwise.

Exactly what I was going to say.
All the songs sound THE SAME! Even the flow of the lyrics but I think it’s just JD. Something Ashanti’s “Good Good” and Mariah’s “Touch My Body” sound similar if you listen to how they flow with the lyrics. They’re both whispering and just have the same melody.
That is why I think Mariah is falling off. She is known for her voice, so that is what people want to hear. Not her whispering up a storm as if she sounds appealing doing it. Which is why I only listen to Mariah’s songs back in the day. When she use to be hitting them notes and belting them out like it was nothing….she was so inspirational….I’m really not happy with her anymore.
No Mariah, No! Take a break. Have a baby. Enjoy your life.

All the singles the Dream has released from his upcoming album have been mediocre at best. He said it was going to be “Love/Hate on steriods”..but Love/Hate was a great record, but the songs he’s releasing now simply arent.

mariah and janet are in the same situation, they need to stop making music only for the younger crowds (aka the limewire/rapidshare generation), back in the day they could sell that way but now it does not work. they need to cater more to the audience thats followed them throughout there careers, or at least make music that can fit more than one radio format (like they use to back in the day) thats why keyshia cole and mary never have problems with record sells all radio formats play their music.

I hope Mariah brings that old school fire on this next cd….all her previous albums are classics. I wasn’t a big fan of this one, Touch My Body was garbage. She did have a couple of nice jams, but the messed up by releasing Bye Bye as a second single.

Well I didn’t buy Mariah’s last album and I’m glad I didn’t. I heard only a few of her songs were good. I loved the Emancipation of Mimi though. I think for the next album she just needsto do something different. I know the saying ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ but this is the music industry, she needs to keep changing her stuff otherwise people will get bored. I’m routing for you girl! Come harder.
And in regards to The Dream…another pushback. Let’s see what his album produces, I liked that song he did with Mariah recently.
I’m a big fan of Mariah, and her last album was good! Just cause it wasn’t commercially successfully, doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I love all Mariah music from back in the day and now.
Mariah Carey is the only artists I have seen that actually acts younger with each album. How were you fully clothed and making great music at 20 and making hip hop influenced garbage at 40?
I don’t have a problem with Mariah releasing another album, what I have a problem with, is her working with the Dream. This n@gga is beyond wack! He can’t even make a hit record on his own, how in the hell is he gonna help Mariah? I think mariah is a great singer she just doesn’t put that much effort into her songs most of the songs from e=mc2 she is whispering like on im that chick she needs to stop the soft whispering and start singing with the voice she sung fantasy with that’s why I think the dreams new song my love will be a hit cause mariah sounds a lot like she did back in the 90s on that song she needs to sing like that on her own songs hopefully that’s what shell do on her new album and the whistle register at the end of “my love” sounds stronger than the whistles from some of her 90s song check it out!!!
I think that however Mariah had lost her touch a little she deserves ONE MORE TRY.I love Mariah and shes the best and “will be forever more” like Keyshia Cole.lol.But seriously,its hard to make good music and then at the same time get great album sales because she’s no fool,sex sells.I mean do you really think that The Butterfly video would get promoted on 10 & park.Possibly but not probably so lets get real.I love you Mariah and I love those whistle registers and I want more of those on the album like the first albums.
