Adolph Grimes III, 22, was shot in the back 12 times by undercover New Orleans police officers early on New Year’s Day.
Grimes traveled to his grandmother’s home near the French Quarter to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his fiancee and their 17-month-old son. Three hours after arrival, around 3 a.m., he was found dead a block from the front door.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Adoph Grimes III, Oscar J. Grant III and Robert Tolan.
DUNGY RETIRES

Tony Dungy, the first black head coach to win the Super Bowl, stepped down Monday after seven years as Indianapolis’ head coach.
“We just felt this was the right time. Don’t shed any tears for me. I got to live a dream most people don’t get to live,” Dungy said.
He added that it was time for him to stay home and work in the community:
I think I’ve got a responsibility to be home a little bit more, be available to my family a little bit more and do some things to help make our country better. I don’t know what that is right now, but we’ll see.”
INMATE PULLS OUT EYE & EATS IT
Twenty-five year old Texas death row inmate Andre Thomas pulled out his only good eye and ate it, according to authorities. Thomas, who has a history of mental problems, was arrested for the stabbing deaths of his estranged wife, their young son and her 13-month-old daughter in March 2004. Their hearts had been ripped out.
Thomas walked into the Sherman Police Department and told a dispatcher he had just murdered the three and had stabbed himself in the chest.
Thomas told police how he put his victims’ hearts in his pocket and left their apartment, took them home, put them in a plastic bag and threw them in the trash.
While waiting for his trial in 2004, Thomas pulled out his right eye. A judge ruled that he was competent to stand trial. Thomas does not have an execution date.

oh my!!! makes me wanna holler the things that go on in this nation of ours….
my condolences go out to the grimes family.
congrats coach dungy! well deserved!!!
MAN HOMEBOY NEEDS TO GO THROUGH AN EXORCISM!
as for the adolph grimes case, im praying for his family through this difficult time.
it’s 2009 and were still dealing with white cops killing blacks for no apparent reason? are you serious?! this needs to stop.
LMAO @ 31.
It is so sad to know he lost his life at the hands of nopd officers when there are so many thugs running around the city acting a fool. It seems as if NOPD cant get anything right. Criminals are rarely caught and convicted of crimes but normal citizens suffer at the hands of NOPD. I did not know Grimes but we did have parallel lives. We are both from New Orleans Grad from single ed catholic schools in 2004 and have friends in common. He could have very well been one of my friends. May he rest in peace.
Wow, This is so sad! I don’t see how they can just shoot an innocent person like that, and obviously not feel bad about it. I hope they get the punishment they deserve! He was somebody’s son, father, etc.. And his family, loved ones are the ones who are gonna have to suffer from this.
This world is getting crazier and crazier! So many bad things are happening one after another. This world is coming to an end, I can feel it.
I am from the Nap too. We had a good run but we still have much to improve on. But thanks for the memories, TD. I think that Jim Caldwell will be a good fit. It’s not like we don’t have a good team. Just need to improve in a couple areas.
As for the Grimes thing, such a shame.
