I saw that video about the guy getting shot by the police yesterday. Its so sad that the murderous asshole probably wont see the inside of a jail cell for what he did to that man. The man was unarmed and laying on his stomach what threat did he pose? And I’m supposed to be afraid of terrorists? Naw police are the real terrorists.

I cannot watch the video of the young man being shot in the back. It’s hard enough for me just hearing about it.

That was so sad to watch. I am so mad that he had to die this way. I just feel like that could be any man of color be it being my father, brother or cousin. If it’s happening continuously then obviously the punishments are not harsh enough. Big up to the CL for posting about the bart shooting because Im from Oakland and this Bart station is right by house and its sad how the police officer who did this might get away with it and never see the inside of the jail. And the guy who was killed was unarmed and not a threat to the bart officers.

I hope that justice is served in that case, and that this draws NATIONAL attention. How can you shoot someone who is lying flat on their back unarmed? The jury should truly see the horror and injustice in this case. Please please let something be done about this. This could be my brother, b/f, friend, just anybody. We have this same situation going on as we type in New Orleans. Yes we are the murder capital of the U.S. and the cops here have a right to be extra cautious. But we had 7 cops shoot 14 rounds into a 23 year old black guys back (they said he shot 1st) 7 cops!!!!

You are wrong again. Constantine invented the Catholic Church. While Christianity actually existed before Constantine, it was actually a minor sect of Judaism. Several of the European belief systems were combined with the belief of the Jewish people who had considered Jesus to be their Rabbi. Jesus Christ of Nazareth birthed Christianity in the area of Jerusalem. You must remember that Constantine did not actually become a Christian until he was an old man on his death bed. That was when he was baptized and professed that Jesus is Lord. During his life he did not surrender to Christ. He simply changed the law so that it was no longer illegal to be Christian. Which was quite prudent of him given that Christianity was steadily growing and soon he might have been fed to the lions.

1) All officers involved be taken off duty without pay, and fully prosecuted;

I agree taking someone’s life is most severe. I never said it wasnt, but we will never fix the black on black crimes in our communities if we turn a blind eye to the underlying issues which include both male and female counterparts. … We’ll just agree to disagree on the rest. They shot this kid in the back. We all saw it. I live here in the Bay Area two stations past fruitvale and take BART every day to and from work. BART police on the whole are good to have around and great protection if you need an escort in the evenings. But come on… the kid was already on the ground on his stomach face down. To shoot a man in the back? Even if the cop had meant to do it with a taser was bullshit. He should have told the kid to stop resisting if that were the case because it would result in him getting tasered. I live in San Francisco and I was outraged when I saw this shooting. I have ridden BART and have never spoken or been accosted by a BART cop except to let a dog sniff my laptop bag (only during 9/11). People in Oakland and the rest of the Bay Area are really angry about this. Right now on the news, the protests have turned into a riot. People are setting things on fire and destroying cop cars. They are sending riot police into Oakland and they closed the Fruitvale BART. There are lots of workers that will have to stay overnight in San Francisco or take alot of buses to get home.

Something always happening in on BART I have seen several violent crimes while riding BART. I park my car at the BART and I parying that I get back to it ok. People have commited sucide on BART (it happened three separate times when I was riding BART), robbed people, fight, commit back roberies and then hop on a train ect. It hurts my heart to hear of such a tragedy. I am saddened by the events and hopeful that justice will come for Oscar Grant III, his daughter and his entire family. A positive aspect of this situation is that it was captured on tape. We cannot let this senseless killing be “for nothing”. I’m upset with the media and their choice to not make it a priority. I’m not saying condemn the cop, just cover the news the same way you would cover trivial things like Britney Spears or Brad and Angelina, put the video out and let “the People” decide. I know that last year was especially crazy, here, because every few days, you’d hear about some cop shooting some black dude, saying that it was self defense because that person was threatening them with a weapon. But, nine times out of ten, you later find out that the person they shot and killed had no weapon at all on them.

Since he wants to take the cowards route and not show up to give an account of his actions that night, steps need to be take to flush him out from whatever hole he’s hiding in. I agree that no one is going to kill that cop. Black people as a whole have been compromised. Killing the cop is carnal anyway. The issue is a spiritual issue.

As a young black man living in ATL this scares me to DEATH to think that for no reason I could be shot and killed because of a police officer’s “judgement” that I am potentially violent .

I get pulled over all the time for no reason; I literally have a phobia of the police, jail, and court.

I think police are out to get me, not to help.
And it’s only going to get worse.

The point I was trying to make was, I don’t think that the officer went to work that day with the intention of killing anybody black or white. Either way, whether or not he pulled the gun but was thinking taser, there was no need for it because Oscar was complying and handcuffed. I just think it’s possible (I’M NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED) that in the heat of the moment an 2 year officer made a horrible call, he will pay for in this life or the after life and that I’m sure of.

Why don’t you guys grow up? People can make mistakes. Cops can make mistakes too. (They’re people. They share the same genes and they’re bound by the same curse as every man on this planet.)

These young men were all on the BART system at 2 am. If they were minding their own business then I can see why this would be wrong, but they weren’t. They were fighting. Cops are supposed to be called out to fights. “That what cops do.”

Are young black men supposed to be on the BART fighting?

My tax money is going toward making your neighborhood safe. Why? Because you can’t police your own kids! You can’t because you won’t. Somebody has to do it for you. You would be better off setting rules for your children to follow,,,,,,, like curfew. That’s a good one. If they were in by 10 or 11 pm then this wouldn’t have happened. Monitor the young men and women they hang out with. Take time to hang out with them yourselves.

But don’t go around pointing the finger at police or any other authority figure who is “doing doubletime” trying to catch up to your failures or mistakes.

First of all, I am so tired of black people having to use their color to defend their own racist anger. Being black doesn’t make it ok to be racist against anyone. I’m not white and I’m not black. Last time I checked, God doesn’t bless those who are cruel no matter what color you are. Yes, what has happened was an enormous tragedy and is completely unjustified. That man did not deserve what happened to him and it is especially sad because he was young. Yes, it is not a mystery that police have used their power to take action against those they are racist against. But why does this have to be the case EVERY SINGLE TIME? Police have done this to EVERYONE. In the end, it is a matter of a PERSON being given a certain amount of power over people that obviously cannot handle it properly. This has been proven in scientific experiments even. There are people who can be given power and they abuse it. Not because they are racist necessarily, but because they have no self control. I pray for the family of the young man and hopefully justice will be served. I do sincerely hope this wasn’t a racist act although does it matter? A young man’s life ended regardless. This shouldn’t be a reason to be racist against white people. This should be a reason to fight for a better system, to build a better country…together.
