
President-elect Barack Obama and his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel leave the weekly Senate Democrats luncheon at the US Capitol on Tuesday. Obama attended the meeting to talk with Democrats about approving President George W. Bush’s request for the second $350 million of the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
On Tuesday, Obama also issued his first veto threat in the closed-door meeting. According to Sen. Joe Lieberman, Obama told former colleagues that if Congress passes a resolution blocking release of the second half of the financial bailout funds, he will veto it. Continue
