♫ HOT OR NOT: NEW ARTIST MELANIE FIONA

Meet Melanie Fiona, the latest protege of Steve Rifkind, the industry veteran who brought you the Wu-Tang Clan and Akon. She most recently gained a good fan base by opening up the European leg of Kanye West’s famed Glow In the Dark tour.

Her first single “Give It To Me Right” samples The Zombies’ “Time of the Season,” and Melanie counts Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, and Gladys Knight as inspirations for her debut album, The Bridge, which will drop sometime this spring (projected month of May) via SRC Records/Universal Motown.

♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

♫ 50 Cent – Get It In (full) – listen
Check out 50 Cent’s second single from his new album, Before I Self Destruct, which has had a couple of problems as far as release. The new song is produced by Dr. Dre, who 50 has garnered plenty of success with. I was a little confused, because “Get It In” is so close to the title of the first single, “Get Up,” which we posted back in October. The new single isn’t anything really to write home about, but I guess it’ll serve it’s purpose.

Even though it’s quite different from the more urban songs that she recorded for her 2005 debut, I think that this music suits Mari vocally. I can’t wait until her new video for “Hunt 4 U” drops and when there’s some more official information about the album.
