This past September, we had you submit questions to celebrity hair stylist Ursula Stephen. Ursula read your questions and comments - here is part three of our feature with more answers and tips from the stylist…
Just wanna say thank you for your continued support and well wishes! I know its been a while since you’ve heard from me - the past few weeks have been craaazy!!!
As some of you loyal Concreteloop/ASK URSULA readers may already know, I had a fabulous birthday party in NYC. It was an amazing turn out. Great people, music, food, and the vibe was nothing but love! Special thanks to Michelle Williams for hosting, and to FHI Heat, Mizani, and Uptown magazine for sponsoring! Shout out to Melka (Mizani), Krystal Thorpe (Epiphany Agency), Troy Monaco, Toni and the rest of the team - Xtra special thanks to my CL fam for holdin’ me down in 2008.
Then it was off to LA for the AMA’s, which was so much fun and star studded! Bitter sweet, as this is the last award show of 2008 but getting Rihanna ready was pretty exciting! I love how we did a flirty fun look for the red carpet and then flipped it to her edgy style for the performance. Props to her stylist, Mariel Haenn. Who designed that sick bustier!- what’s good!

Check out brand new music from Chrisette Michele. The new song is called “Epiphany” and will serve as a the first single from her currently untitled second album. Although much information isn’t known about the project, it’s supposed to drop on March 31st, and sources close to the singer have said that she’s worked with Ne-Yo and created some sounds a lot different from the ones that were on her debut, 2007’s I Am, which was certified gold and earned her a Grammy nomination.
I’m interested to see what Chrisette comes up with, she has a very unique and distinctive voice. I think with the right producers, she could really showcase her pipes in a really nice light.

♫ Keri Hilson feat. T.I. - Turnin’ Me On (Remix) (full) - listen / Ready to to Fall (full) - listen
Check out these two new tracks from Keri Hilson, the first being a remix to “Turnin’ Me On,” which has been being remixed by everybody! I actually like the T.I. remix of it. It’s good to hear Atlanta representing on tracks like this. I think this is actually remix #4 of the track, and it seems like most version of it are getting plenty of spins. The second track is “Ready to Fall,” featuring Ne-Yo. It appears on the Tapemasters Inc. & The Untouchables - The Future of R&B, Vol. 23 mixtape. I didn’t know that Keri had ever worked with Ne-Yo , aside from her appearance in the video for his second single, “Miss Independent.”
♫ The Dream feat. Jamie Foxx - Rockin’ That Shit (Remix) (full) - listen
The Dream offers up a remix of his second single, “Rockin’ That Shit,” featuring Jamie Foxx. The two have been working very closely together as of late. The Dream has a couple of cuts on Jamie’s latest album, Intuition. Although this is just a mixtape track, The Dream is set to shoot a video for the original song in Los Angeles this week. It seems like The Dream’s album, Love vs. Money is shaping up to be a pretty good project, this song has been getting a lot of radio love. The new album is slated to release March 3rd.

A New York City bakery has caused quite a bit of controversy as it capitalizes on President Barack Obama’s inauguration.
The Lafayette French Pastry Bakery in Greenwich Village is selling ‘Drunken Negro Face’ cookies — chocolate covered biscuits with large red eyes, nose and lips.
The bakery owner, Ted Kefalinos, claims it’s “just a fun face”. But news reports say he’s used the “N word” when talking about the cookies and made vague hints of assassination.
He reportedly told several patrons: “They’re in honor of our new president. He’s following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln. He will get what’s coming to him.”

Electrik Red is on their third single, “So Good,” from their debut album, How to Be a Lady: Volume 1, which is entirely produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream. The Def Jam girl group didn’t have much luck with their first single, “Drink In My Cup,” which has remained slightly under the radar and have barely given any promotion (not even iTunes) to their second single, “Friend Lover,” which they’ve actually shot a video for.
The new single, “So Good” is like a mash-up between Prince’s girl group, Vanity 6 and Rick James’s Mary Jane Girls. Seems like all of the songs that have a leaked from the girls’ album sounds like something that The Dream could have recorded from his first album, Love/Hate. Maybe “So Good” will get a little more media attention than the other singles have.

It seems as though fans won’t get the continues Carter albums like they thought they would from Lil’ Wayne. The critically acclaimed and fan-favorite Tha Carter III only came out last year, and is still pushing out singles (”Mrs. Officer” still gets heavy radio spins and club play), and he’s on his huge national I Am Music tour, but he’s already gearing up for release of his next project, The Rebirth.
The New Orleans MC calls the album a “birth of a new beginning.”
“This is something brand new, so we don’t want it to be some experimental thing, ’cause some people are not gonna like this,” he told MTV News. [SOURCE]
The new LP is set to hit stores April 7th. But I’m not sure it’s what people are expecting. Wayne has been saying that he’s a rockstar, and with this new found style (Lil’ Wayne has been rocking a lot skinny jeans, fedoras, vests and flannels a la the newly popularized hipster scenes) and new piercings, I think he’s definitely channeling his inner Kurt Cobain. The new album is said to be an entirely rock album, where Mr. Carter will showcase his newly-found “guitar skills.”
