POLITICS: OBAMA MEETS MEXICO’S PRES. / BUSH’S FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE / BURRIS TO BE SEATED / FIRST GRANNY
Tuesday, January 13, 2009

President-elect Barack Obama speaks during a meeting with Mexico’s President Felipe Calderón on Monday at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC. As a symbol of the ties between the two nations, incoming U.S. presidents traditionally meet with Mexico’s leader before other heads of state.
Monday’s meeting between Obama and Calderón was their first opportunity to address the global economic slowdown, drug violence along the border, immigration and trade.
BUSH’S FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE
At his final news conference Monday, Pres. George W. Bush kept it real with reporters, speaking on mistakes he made while in office and even warning President-elect Barack Obama to expect criticism and be prepared that some of his “biggest disappointments will come from your so-called friends”.
The president will deliver a 10 to 15 minute farewell address Thursday night that the White House said would be an opportunity for him to reflect on the last eight years and “uphold the tradition of presidents using farewell addresses to look forward — by sharing his thoughts on greatest challenges facing the country, and on what it will take to meet them”.
BURRIS TO BE SEATED
Former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris, who was chosen by Gov. Rod Blagojevich to fill the Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama, flashes a thumbs-up as he leaves a press conference on Monday.
At the press conference, Burris said he expects to be seated as a U.S. Senator later this week.
In a joint statement from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, “He is now the senator-designate from Illinois and, as such, will be accorded all the rights and privileges of a senator-elect.”
FIRST GRANNY

Marian Robinson, pictured with son-in-law President-elect Barack Obama at an election night gathering in Chicago last November, is temporarily moving into the White House to join daughter Michelle Obama and granddaughters Sasha and Malia. During the campaign, Robinson retired from her job as a bank executive secretary to help care for her granddaughters.
According to Katie McCormick Lelyveld, spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, “Mrs. Robinson will be coming with the family to help the girls get acclimated, and she will determine in the coming months whether or not she wants to stay in D.C. permanently.”

I`m most anxious to see how Obama deals with The Economic crisis foreign policy. Let me start by just saying that,”I expect it to be more of the same”. Meaning that, America`s policy/friendship/allegiance, or whatever you want to call it, with the criminal enterprise, Israel, will not change. This is very unfortunate for The Palestinians who have had their homeland stolen, invaded and occupied by this criminal organization called, Israel.
Call me a cynic, peccemist if you will, but I choose to deal with reality. Can anyone really see Obama making a drastic change, in not only America`s policy toward Israel and The Palestinians, but America`s “UNJUST” foreign policies period? I can hear that quiet deafening with this question that I have posed. If he were to attempt such his life would, in no doubt, be in grave danger.
However, it takes a real moral conviction and courage to try and right wrongs and do what one knows is right. This is why I have such a great love for Malcolm X for example. Although we had many freedom fighters as a people, it is Malcolm who I closely identify with. There was/is something about his spirit that touches you in a very special way. Even at the cost of his life he basically said, “I`ll die on my feet as a man rather than live on my knees as a coward”; now that takes a STRONG moral conviction.
As great as Obama may be, I just can`t see him as having this same moral conviction at the possible expense of his life. Furthermore, you really can`t compare Obama to Malcolm because the two are very different; Malcolm is at a whole different level and that`s what makes him special. I wish he was still with us today because I would love to hear his views on the ATRICITIES and INJUSTICES in the world today.
Yes I, too, felt very proud as a decendant from slaves the night Obama made his historical speech after having been elected. However, we must get over the symbolism and ask ourselves, “will Obama have the moral conviction to try and right wrongs even at the possible expense of his life”? If by God`s grace the answer turns out to be in the affirmitive, I`ll be even more proud.

@Rockin Robin.
That deafening silence you hear is the collective rolling of the eyes by people on this blog. We’ve pulverized this question on this blog time in, time out and frankly it is an old Right Wing talking point. Right out of the Retardicans playbook. Majority of Americans, 75%, believe in Obama’s policies and his leadership. Like everyone else we just have to wait and see. There are going to be people who will not be satisfied with Obama regardless of what positive changes he brings forward. I have used this analogy before. If Obama turns water into red wine, there will be some people to say “That’s good but I like white wine.” These are just facts. There is saying by Uncle Bill “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.” Don’t engage in hypothetical, give the man some time to swear in, catch his breath and take a sh!t. Geez

Obama is a politician, first and foremost. His job is to oversee and govern the masses. Why are you even mentioning him and Malcolm in the same paragraph? Their priorities aren’t even on the came planet. Come on now…
As for Bush, L.M.A.O.!
After basically showcasing his “I’ll do whatever the hell I want” type of Presidency he has the gall to speak now on how he’ll be percieved as he exits the WH? I guess using a Texan cowboy mentality wasn’t such a great way to run the country after all.
I’ll admit that after 9/11 I was one of the people wanting answers to why our FBI/CIA didn’t act sooner on alot of the intelligence but if only he’d taken the time to LISTEN to what his top operatives and military stragtegists had to say thousands of innocent people and servicemen wouldn’t have died for nothing.
