POLITICS: OBAMA URGES CONGRESS TO ACT + OBAMA MEETS SPIDER-MAN / PALIN SPEAKS ON MEDIA / Burris Testifies Before Blagojevich Impeachment

On Thursday, President-elect Barack Obama warned Congress that not taking “dramatic action” on his economic aid package soon could have devastating consequences:

“If nothing is done, this recession could linger for years. The unemployment rate could reach double digits. For every day we wait or point fingers or drag our feet, more Americans will lose their jobs. More families will lose their savings. More dreams will be deferred and denied. And our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse,” he said.

Obama is scheduled to announce Leon Panetta as CIA director and Dennis Blair as director of national intelligence. Former CIA official John Brennan will be named as White House homeland security adviser and deputy national security adviser for counterterrorism.

OBAMA MEETS SPIDER-MAN

President-elect Barack Obama is pictured on the cover of a special edition Marvel Comics’ weekly Spider-Man comic. It features a six-page story about the superhero saving the day when an imposter tries to take Obama’s place as president.

Obama has said that as a child, he collected Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comic books. His Senate Web site used to have a photo of him posing in front of a Superman statue.

“How great is that? The commander in chief to be is actually a nerd in chief,” Joe Quesada, Marvel’s editor-in-chief said. “It was really, really cool to see that we had a geek in the White House. We’re all thrilled with that.”

The Obama story is a bonus in Marvel Comic’s Amazing Spider-Man #583, available in comic book shops nationwide on Jan. 14 for $3.99 and is expected to sell out, with half the covers devoted to Obama.

PALIN SPEAKS ON MEDIA

For the first time at length, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin takes on the media coverage of her and the 2008 campaign in an upcoming documentary on how the news media impacted the 2008 election, Media Malpractice.

Burris Testifies Before Blagojevich Impeachment

Roland Burris, the former Illinois Attorney General chosen by Governor Rod Blagojevich to fill the U. S. Senate seat vacated by President-Elect Barack Obama, answers questions in front of the Illinois house impeachment committee hearing January 8, 2009 in Springfield, Illinois. The committee is holding the hearing to determine if Blagojevich should be impeached following recent accusations by federal authorities of corruption including offering to sell the senate appointment to the highest bidder.

Now this shyt is getting ridiculous! Spiderman?
My normal programming was interrupted with that bullshyt speech Obama gave. I had to fastforward thru it. All he did was list all the economic problems, I don’t think he gave any solutions, not that he had any. I’m just sick of the media and the govt officials. We definitely need a change. But not from the govt.

SMH @ Sarah!
This trick can’t stand that another woman is stealin her spotlight! She knows she can’t really hate on Hillary so she’s tryna tackle a Kennedy ROTFL. But her argument and logic are faulty as usual with her using the class argument. She’s a Kennedy for goodness sake! From the moment her dad was in the white house, she’s been under a microscope and under extreme scrutiny for every move she made. Palin don’t know the first thing about media scrutiny compared to a Kennedy! Is she serious? Doesn’t Palin remember how much more of a microscope Caroline’s brother John was under since he lived a more life in NY?

That is exactly why I can’t stand that sorry excuse for a woman: intelligent, down to earth people like Obama know they have short-comings. This broad is so blindly and extremely ignoant and stuck on herself that she doesn’t have the intelligence to educate herself and try to makeup for what she lacks. Instead she’d rather blame the media, the Democrats, John McCain (the hand that fed her) and say those that wouldn’t vote for her are not part of the real America. Go get a real job lady and try reading a book sometime!

Millions of people are loosing their jobs and homes, why are people still trying to figure out how Obama was elected, instead of doing interviews blaming the media for the republican failure she needs to be in Washington coming up with ideals on how to fix this issue.

MY ROLE

—- Barack Obama is definitely speaking the truth about the unemployment
—- status as well as the economy…it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
—- I just pray the innocent don’t get scolded too much during this recession.

—- The comic sketch doesn’t even look like Obama…

—- Palin is doing what most would do in her situation…extending her 15 seconds
—- of fame and collect some $$ in the process.
