On Thursday, Pres. Barack Obama responded to the NY Times article which reported Wall Street handed out $18.4 billion in bonuses for the year.
The President called out the Wall Street bankers for giving themselves bonuses in 2008 (just as they had done in 2004) and said it was “the height of irresponsibility” while the crumbling financial sector received a bailout from taxpayers.
He added, “It is shameful. And part of what we’re going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint, and show some discipline, and show some sense of responsibility.”
SENATE REMOVES BLAGOJEVICH
A quote taken from a taped conversation of Rod Blagojevich is displayed during closing arguments in the impeachment trial being held in the Senate chamber at the Illinois Capitol on Thursday.
The Illinois Senate voted 59-0 to remove Blagojevich as governor, and it also unanimously voted to prevent him from ever holding political office again in the state.
Blagojevich was accused by federal authorities of corruption including offering to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Pres. Barack Obama.
KILPATRICK FUND BROKE
According to a filing with the IRS, the legal defense fund for Kwame Kilpatrick is out of money.
The Detroit Justice Fund says its last donations came Aug. 27, when four donors gave a total of $3,150. The fund says overall, it spent $45,210 and raised $41,850.
Kilpatrick goes free Tuesday after serving 99 days in the Wayne County jail for lying on the witness stand about his affair with his ex-chief of staff and other matters.

As for banks paying themselves bonuses, what’s new? Welcome the shining US economy. It is sad that Obama can only go so far as condemning their acts. Bankers who do this should be prosecuted. There NEEDS to be a precedent in law somewhere to set a deterrent for these crooks. And in this shrinking economy they still do this, despite a collosal bailout package for them. Out with the free market, more state regulation.

I watched his segment on, “The View”, and I honestly don’t think he’s guilty. He brought up a lot of good point about the politicans being out to get him because he was working to help save the working class money, etc. Which could explain why they were tapping his phones.

Now they are holding up that sign at the impeachment using his words on the fbi tapes as evidence yet the illinois senate agreed not to hear anyone involved in the criminal complaint. So although they heard his words on the tape he cant call the person who he was talking on any of the tapes to refute anything and didnt even listen to all of the tapes .
How do you defend yourself against that and then have the feds basically use anything that you or anyone else says against you in the criminal trial.

Well, I definitely see where you’re coming from; however, the rich get richer because they work harder. In some cases, of course. I’m just tired of people blaming the government and keep using that pointless phrase/excuse “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer”. Well maybe if those drug dealers didn’t drop out of school in the 9th grade (if that) and got an education MAYBE they would be sweeping in the dough. I know some less wealthy people try and try but a handful of them don’t, in that case, don’t blame anybody but yourself for the loss of your success in life. No one made you party instead of studying. If you want a better life for yourself only you can make that happen.
Which is why I am glad I have secure, well payed job. And in a few years I will be taking after my parents and owning it. It takes time guys, you can’t just give up now.

There are people suffering that didn’t drop out of school to sale drugs. I know people that have several degrees that can’t find a job.
