Obama was on Capitol Hill working to gain support from Republicans for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan, the $825 billion economic recovery package proposed by House Democrats.

Barack Obama is not going to see America out of a damn thing. He has been elevated to put a black face on the fall of America. That is it.

Good luck Mr President, the economy will take at least 11/2 to 2 years to begin recovering from the fallout of 30 years of right wing conservative economic policies. The Obama administration has set the stage for a recovery. It is important however for the president to realize that the republican “ideas” that have crippled the nation cannot be accepted as sound advice, it is discredited information that cannot be taken seriously.

The first part of the 700 bn dollar was a complete failure. BOA took their share of the TARP and bought Merrill Lynch, CITI group was bought a jet until Obama told them to return it. Bush appointed the “wolf” Paulson to guard the hen house. Now keep in mind that all of this occurred before Obama’s start date and now Obama has to take what is left to push through a stimulus. Or if the remaining 350 won’t help the US has to borrow more.
These folks in Washington need to haul ass and put together and approve whatever plan that will work towards getting us out of this dreadful economy. I know things are supposed to get worse before they get better but, my goodness. This country is surely now only running on a prayer and a mustard seed of faith.

The Federal Reserve is making a killing from these “bailout” monies. They wont even reveal how much collateral they earned from the trillions of loans they gave out (our tax money mind you). Bush required no oversight and no transparency. The “Bailout” was a way for him to dish out the last bit of money he stole from the economy. The ones actually recieving this money are the banks, his cronies and the elite.
They picked a black man to “fix” it so he can fall on his face and they can laugh yet again. The irony of a Obama becoming a president is the fact that the enitre election and triumph thereof is one big racist joke.

You damn right, the 700 billion was a complete failure and whatever else they claim will be “pumped” into the “economy” will be a complete failure as well. He inherited a mess because he was designed to inherit a mess. The American government is borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. Regardless of what money is allegedly put in to the economy, the government will still owe, which means that the people will still owe. There is no way out. As I’ve said, the face of America’s demise will be this man, a black man, by design. Black people kill me when they rant about how “everyone clamored for his tenure to start”, lol. That is because Bush has been so demonized in the world media that ANY Democrat would’ve been held in high esteem. You combine that with the all time great depiction of this man as a Christ figure and of course the world will view him as a messiah. On another note, he continued right where Bush left off in bombing Pakistan and killing ten children. That was in Saturday’s paper.

They are not going to fix this financial crisis with a $825 Billion dollar economic stimulus package that will supposedly create new jobs.That`s not the problem.To fix it,our leaders have to stop helping companies from moving their jobs overseas.American companies had good paying jobs with benefits.What happened to those good jobs? For the last 30 years,our last four Presidents and politicians,have betrayed and stabbed,the American people in the back by helping corporate giants like Microsoft,Intel,etc.,etc.,lay off Americans and move those good paying jobs overseas to China and India.This has caused massive unemployment and joblessness and is on the verge of destroying this nation. If our corrupt elected officials would stop doing that,America would`nt need a stimulus plan to create jobs,because the good jobs would still be here.The $850 billion stimulus,can`t keep up with the pace at which ,U.S. companies are laying people off and moving their jobs overseas.

I love that Barack is in office trying to place the US back on track…but to be honest with you I don’t see the USA ever getting healthy again. I won’t say “at all” that there will not be some better changes to come but if you think about it, we let loose for too long and allowed the other countries to become stronger. Because they see where we are and what type of stake we are in…they will use that to their FULLEST advantage.
It hurts me so that some black folks are now killing their famlies and themselves. Did you guys hear about that man and wife (whom were in the health field) lost their jobs and went home to kill all of their children and themselves? Folks are not ready for this and some don’t know what to do or where to go.

Why do people believe that 800 plus billion dollars is all that Obama is relying on to remedy this economic crisis? Either you guys do not know economics or just simply regurgitating what you’ve heard some right wing pundit said. Listen; there isn’t one approach to this problem. Pumping money into the system alone will not work, there has to be incentives for business i.e. retail, banks etc. That is why Obama is giving companies both small and large, a tax credit for each employee it hires and higher taxes for each employee it lays or jobs it ships overseas (I know someone is going to rebut this claim with something they heard from Rush Limbaugh). I am all for free economy and capitalism, but if not governed or regulated they both could lead to extreme exploitation of people.
Then you have to restore people’s confidence to take the money they have stashed away under their mattresses and start investing, buying, etc. All of this will ultimately restore foreign countries’ confidence in the US economy where they will start lending America money at lower interest rates. America gets lower interest rates, the American people get lower interest rates which will empower people to borrow money from the banks (banks make money off the interest) to buy cars, houses, etc. For Christ’s sake, stop leaning on your own misunderstanding. If you don’t know do some research, ask somebody who does so you can have an educated discussion.

But you are right, the American people have been living on borrowed money for the past 40 years; living above and beyond their means. It is similar to an individual living lavishly on credit cards. As the saying goes, every day the bucket goes to the well, one day the bottom will fall out. Obama will not be the face of the demise of this American system. Obama is smart, he is using the Sarah Palin effect; lowering expectations so anything short of financial Armageddon will seem like progress.
