After Tuesday’s historic events, U.S. President Barack Obama gets to work in the Oval Office on Wednesday morning in Washington, DC.
President Obama (joined by Vice President Biden) signed his first five executive orders on Wednesday. Obama’s orders dealt with a freeze on some government salaries, a ban on lobbying his administration after leaving, and loosening of the way the federal government interprets the Freedom of Information Act.

Oatsuzn, I was concerned as to what that meant too and started doing some digging. The “loosening of the interpretation” is meant to make governement information more available to the public. It’s to my understanding that the goal of this change is to create a somewhat more transparent government. Of course, this won’t fix it all, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Thanks, I’m familiar with that the FOIA is but haven’t had time right now to look up what exactly he signed today. It’s just not good to hear the phrase “loose” interpretation because it’s synonymous with “broaden”, in other words the the justice dept has more say so in what government info they allow to divulge.
That’s a great shot of him in the oval office – in terms of him brainwashing people, his effect on the public is just more of a testament to what an inspiring orator he is. Yeah people only have his words to go on, but what else does a 1 day in president have to offer? Words are all any vying politician has till they actually get elected.
As for him saying things will take longer I think he’s right to do so. It’s a quick fix world these days, where people want it done now rather than done right. But a recession won’t get fixed overnight, neither will Iraq, Guantanamo etc. But to be fair Obama won’t change America. He can only inspire America to change itself, even the president is just one man…

And even if he do make a decision SOMEONE is gonna be bad (the left, the right, the independent, the Christians, the Muslims, the gay people). So what’s the use. Let this dude do his thing gosh. Politics is subjective man. Only if someone pleases YOU will you be happy. I like Obama and I like his current decisions but I know he’s gonna make a republican type of decision and I might get upset but over all I will want to know is it best for America at that time.
