In his first weekly address since being sworn in as the 44th president of the United States, President Barack Obama discusses how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan will jump-start the economy.
“This is not just a short-term program to boost employment. It’s one that will invest in our most important priorities like energy and education; health care and a new infrastructure that are necessary to keep us strong and competitive in the 21st century,” he said.
PRES. MEETS WITH CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS
President Barack Obama makes remarks during a meeting with bipartisan congressional leaders at the White House on Friday, which included House Minority Leader John Boehner, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The meeting was a discussion on the economic stimulus package which may be approved by the middle of February.
FIRST LADY CALLS DOLLS INAPPROPRIATE
Ty Inc., the company that brought you Beanie Babies, released “Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia” dolls earlier this month as part of its TyGirlz Collection. But First Lady Michelle Obama isn’t too happy about it.
“We believe it is inappropriate to use young private citizens for marketing purposes,” Mrs. Obama’s spokeswoman said.
Upon release, a company spokeswoman confirmed that the dolls were created to resemble President Barack Obama’s daughters. However, since the First Lady’s remarks were issued, the company has said, “They were not designed to look like any living person. Somehow there was a misunderstanding.”
i agree it is wrong to use the girls.. Seriously….. they need to change there names also.
Very ambitious words there. I wish him all the best. He’s sadly inherited a mess left by the previous administration. Good to see that he’s got straight down to business.
I’ve said it, I’ll it again, America can no longer favor free market economics. It was that ideology which made this country selfish, greedy and ultimately shot itself down. No laws and no state regulation made this country into what it is now…plus it did not help having a President for 8 years with no clue.
It seems like the doll company would have to legally get permission to name/create the dolls after Sasha & Malia. WT?? The dolls actually are cute as well as the cartoons in the backgrounds.

You are so right #9, I was about the write the same thing until I saw your post! Everyone is just happy to have a black president, which I am too, but they are so blinded by the fact that he’s black they’re not paying attention to his policies and beliefs! Obama is an amazing communicator and everyone is just taking his word as GOLD, he can do no wrong in the media, and he can twist anything he wants to sound good! Obama vowed to stop lobbyist from working in the government and actually put a ban on it within his first week of office. BUT within 48 hours of setting that lobbyist ban he turned around and waived it for lobbyist William Lynn so he could be part of his administration!? Wow! I mean, how good is your word and you laws if you are just going to turn around an waive them when it’s convenient for you!? 48 hours!? Really!?
Oh, and I love that he doesn’t mention that all these “great” programs he’s going to set up are going to cost the taxpayers billions of dollars in an already bad economy. And did you hear about his “I won” comment?? If Bush would have said anything even close to “I won” they would have CRUCIFIED him for it, but Obama says it and everyone laughs it off and says it was a light-hearted joke!? You need to OPEN your eyes people, and stop treating Obama like he is some sort of god!!
Oh and one more thing, back in September he promised a tax cut for 95% of Americans and now they just came back this week and said that tax cuts are a “republican” thing and they only entertained it to appease bipartisanism… Obama said “Feel free to whack me over the head because I probably will not compromise on that part [tax cuts].” Keep your eyes open, because I can almost Guarantee you that those 95% of Americans aren’t going to see the promised tax cuts!
P.S.: If you don’t know anything about the above mentioned situations, don’t bother responding to this post, just keep swallowing Obama’s BS by the spoonfuls.
