President Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America as his wife, Michelle Obama, and daughters, Malia and Sasha, look on.
Placing his hand on the Bible once used by Abraham Lincoln, Obama took the Oath of Office at 12:05 p.m. on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Immediately following, he delivered his Inaugural Address to a sea of flag-waving Americans stretching down the National Mall to the Lincoln Memorial and beyond.

i really enjoyed the inauguration! ‘air and simple gifts’ with yo yo-ma was my favorite performance and i thought the invocation by rick warren was beautiful. i am so proud to be an american . . . and especially grateful to be a black american. God Bless these united states
ITS AN AMAZING MOMENT IN AMERICA
EVERYONES SMILING, EVERYONES EXCITEMENT
JUST WHEN WE THOUGHT WE LOST HOPE!
A FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT…MAY GOD BLESS HIM!!!
Beautiful family. Congratulations President Obama!
Shaiy. Obama didn’t mess up the oath . it was the Chief Justice John that missed it up . Obama was trying to correct him.
so emotional …… *sob* and the little girls are so cute! What a historical day!
my FAVORITE part was the benediction delivered by rev. joseph lowery…
“….help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right.”
amaaaaaaaaaaazing!
wacthed a majority of it at home!
canada supports obama! (L)
This day means so much to me as it does to us as a community, we as americans, and we as a people. What a wonderful example we now have, that being positve, getting an education, marrying your husband before you have children and most importantly playing the appropiate roles can get you. I love how Michelle leads her family at home, and is a strong black woman, like so many of us, but she also knows how to play her position. Michelle was taught to be strong, communiable as well as visable, but knows how to let her man lead. President Obama has proven and will continue to prove that he is the perfect man to lead. It’s so wonderful to see a responsible Black Man, who’s taking charge that will not only lead, First Lady Michelle, and adorable Malia and Sasha but will lead our Country. While President Obama can’t put this economy and the communities back on track with out the help of the people, he certainly is the ordained man to do it! I’m so proud to be a Black American, glad I have a story I can share with my grandchildren. My daughter will now feel that attaining this level of excellence is not just a dream but in fact a reality. Thank you to our forefathers/mothers who fought, and gave their life so that we may have this day. May God Bless our First Family and keep them covered, may no weapon formed against them propser! Happy Inaugauration Day!
Like Mary is saying everything is Just Fine. We all have to do are part as well. Obama can’t do it alone. Hey DJ Nick Cannon.
I THANK GOD FOR THIS DAY & FOR THIS MAN!!!
WOWWWWWWWWWW….TRUELY AMAZINGGGGGGGGG
I had to work since this morning but was able to tune in from time to time and I must say that the Obama’s are truely blessed. This is just an amazing time in history. I pray and hope that the lord will pretect him and his fam and lead this country to where it needs to go.
God bless
Sorry but WHY ARE THESE PARTIES
THEY ARE NOT BALLS
CONCERT PARTIES NECESSARY?????????????
IT IS SO UNFORTUNATE TO GO FROM SERIOUS of swearing in TO SHALLOWNESS AGAIN.
THIS IS NOT CLASSY. TOO MUCH PARTYING.
Thanks CL, and J. Dakar. It truly was a day to be thankful for. They are a sharp family all around. I really liked those green gloves and shoes!
@ 86 I missed that episode, hopefully I can catch online somewhere.
Did anyone else notice the significance behind Dick Cheney being confined to a wheelchair for the inauguration? He was ultimately the one running the show. Bush was a puppet. The Lord God basically told him to “SIT DOWN your time is up”. I thought that was funny.
Obama will need all of our prayers. This will be a tough term for his administration. Seeing Obama and the first lady walk into the White House was a beautiful thing.
so glad to be alive and be apart of this great moment in history!
Yay we did it!!!
oh #126 i loved that part too
Obama is like the worlds preisdent…As a Black Jamaican,Canadian I can say he is the president in my world.
100.Nikki
“Y’all during the parade I was NERVOUS”
Nervousness also set in on me when they took those breaks and made the walk down the street – I still am nervous for the Obamas. . However overall it was a truly beautiful day. I know its real but its going to take some time for me to fully accept that this actually occurred.
I’m more than excited about our new President!!!
@# ‘S 86 & 126 speak on it…. There was so much I came away with at today’s events, the images and video of the human reaction that this wasn’t a dream. This was real for all to see,I liken parts of President Obama’s speech to Simon from American Idol, telling a potential contestant exactly what they need to hear,to move on to the next round. The man is telling all of us that,it will take the masses to clean-up the mess of a few…I saw the two elder brothas wearing the Tuskegee Airmen Hats, recalling the worst days, weeks, and months,of racist who held my life in their hands, and how it paled in comparison to their experience in the military during WW II,and what today meant to them…I’m a seventies baby, born and raised with a strong sense of self, but as I got exposed to racism inside and outside of America, there was no way I could invision a day like today. What made me feel so good, besides the obvious, was looking at a young brotha maybe five or six years old,in a room full children, but the camera was focused on how this child was glued to seeing President obama…DAMN how I wish my grandfather could have seen this day!
I loved it….watching it was amazing, it was electric, and I got chills!!
To number 4, if you’d have watched continued coverage on CNN— the Chief Justice reworded the oath [changing the place of FAITHFULLY], therefore it was he, who messed up. Obama already had it memorized and said it as fit. But whatever.
Ugh! This is such a beautiful and momentous occasion. May God continue to shed his graces on America, bless the Obama-Biden family…..this is gonna be a trip!!
Oh, and as it’s been said several times…this is a huge gain and even bigger step in history for all of America, but this is not the complete fulfillment of Dr. King’s “Dream”…Obama is a great man, but he is not the end all, be all of our potential in this world. Black people, we’ve got a long ways to go still. Just as we have to hold him accountable to his presidential duties, we must hold our own actions accountable…we can’t be complacent—-just gotta keep it moving towards an even greater good.
It is sad that you all have put all of your hopes into a person. You got all this thank the lord shouts going and have broken one of the ten commandments. You all simply worship this man,and it is freaking scary. As fast the popularity came, that is how fast it will go. The expectation of President Obama is simply enormously too high. All that his great sounding speeches told people what they hear simply what people want to hear. Half of you that voted for him probably didn’t know what his policies were. That is a major problem that we as blacks have. We are so focus on more with our emotions and less with our brains. Our churches are nothing but” feel good entertainment juke joints” that have no effect on our communities. Here in Memphis we have a church on every corner but we have one of the highest murder rate in the United States. Unwed mothers, poverty, and a host of other problems that are mainly in the Black community.

i love the last dance. ok people its so time for us to get to work. i’m sure people don’t want to hear this. but we have our president in office now. we are a most forgiving people. bush created this eight year mess him and his crew, we all know that. but it may take us turning the other cheek we may have to ask him for some help on cleaning this crap up. president obama please don’t stress out i know that is easier said then done. but keep god first we all are praying keep reaching out. what took eight years to mess up will take even more years to clean up. please don’t be pressured you are the one in charge so don’t let democrats or replubicans change you or what your heart and mind tell you i’m not saying don’t listen yes but don’t let anyone back you in a corner. first lady michelle we love you and the girls, i can’t stress enough don’t you get lost in all this i know you want. just watch your husbands back. god is good we are so proud of the whole family. hope you guys get a good night sleep. god bless and keep you safe.
IT WAS NICE. I WAS JUST UPSET THAT OBAMA HAD MESSED UP WHEN HE HAD TO RECITE THAT SWORN IN PART.
EPIC WIN!!!!
Achievement Unlocked: The White House
Jazz…he didn’t mess up…the Justice mixed up the words and Obama waited for him to correct himself before repeating it properly…he could’ve correctly said it but that would have been rude.
YOU KNOW MICHELLE IS GOING TO BE PREGNANT THIS MORNING…OBAMA LOOK LIKE HE WAS READY TO CELEBRATE…HOLDING HER TIGHT LIKE THAT …..WHILE THEY WERE DANCING..UM HM…..HE MADE PRESIDENTIAL LOVE TO HER LAST NIGHT
Aweome to witness. Great Speech—it’s time to take accountability.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED how the lil one gave her daddy a thumbs-up after he took the oath.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuh!!! I bet old wrinkled up Bush scared poor little Sasha…LOL
Obama’s dathers are so cute arn’t they!
In the pix with Former President Bush talking with Sasha. She is like seriously dude you can get out my face now. I can hear you from across the aisle. LOL
I seriously like Former President Bush. I believe in my heart of hearts he is a genuine person that really likes people. He was just under the control of Daddy Bush and his gang. He may not be intellectually inclined, however great your I.Q. wont get you into God’s graces. Being an overall kind and grateful person, and having a personal relationship with Christ will get you the true and real blessings. So Former President Bush, keep God first and everything will work out in the end.
I believe God will bless and keep the Obama Family as well as his Administration.
God Bless America and everywhere else!!!!!
Aww I love this post.And isnt that adorable,Thumbs up daddy.Awe…Thats so cute…
