Yea Brian is the only one pushing for this girls success. Her image/style is so mimicky and she doesnt stand out in any area: fashion/style, hair, voice, even songwriting.

Agreed. Brian is the only person I see hyping this girl. Yes she’s beautiful and talented but her image and music are not anything different from what we’ve already seen. People, achievements in music does not have to mean coming out with an album. There are also people who do behind the scene work and get recognized. I know you will read this (especially since these photos were a CL exclusive) and I must say, I’m also skeptical of these allocades bestowed upon you. Not to say that you aren’t talented, but things seem to be happening in reverse as far as your career. Usually when I see these type of events honoring a person they have contributed something memorable to the music game. I’ve yet to see or hear a song that you have been credited for as being a stand out hit (top ten or greater). I’ve yet to hear a song from you that was a hit. I haven’t even been granted the opportunity to purchase your own material. Maybe I’m living under a rock or maybe you haven’t been properly credited (which happens when you work with a production team) so if i’m wrong please don’t hesitate to correct me. That isn’t to say you haven’t worked with industry veterans, or have actually had songs that have charted. I’m actually referring to music that will be remembered more than a couple of years. Women like Angela Winbush, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, Dolly Parton are singer/songwriters that I think have proven their talents are worthy of this praise but you really have only shown us 1/2 of the equation, so don’t take my words (and others here) as hating but YOU’VE GOT TO MAKE ME A BELIEVER! The industry quickly throws stuff in bowls and mixes them and feeds them to the buyers and quite frankly…it makes us sick! Take your time, pace yourself and be humble. People whispering in your ear or blowing smoke up your butt aren’t always looking out for your best intrests or being 100% truthful.

She’s a beautiful woman, but I can’t seem to get into her music. It’s the same ole same ole recycled mess that I’m tired of listening to. Her high tempo music is ordinary at best. She has a great voice, and maybe she will find her niche with ballads, but I am not impressed by what I have heard so far. If her singing career has any longevity, hopefully she can hook up with a producer who can put the beats in the background and her voice front and center.

I may be the only one but this chick does nothing for me. I haven’t heard a single that i like, i do hope her cd does well. However,i am really not impressed with her as a whole package. (i love b like the next person, but I love SADE more because SHE was a SOULFUL artist..hype and fame wasn’t her persona. and umm..if ya’ll really wanna take it there.. PHYLLIS HYMAN would make ANY artist today look like just another dot in an inauguration crowd.)

I like Keri Hilson’s lyrics.. but I do agree like so many others that she needs to break away from today’s crappy sound. But I do think she has great potential! Maybe just do a little more soul searching. She is a VERY hard worker.. and it shows.

Lastly, ANYONE who can writes their own stuff should get a hand clap, because it’s coming from their heart. Whether or not it’s good music as a whole is subjective, I know..but the cookie cutter styles, sounds and lyrics ARE what’s KEEPIN us in a recession. Like some of us said.. she just needs the right push..

THE SOLUTION: I think we as a PEOPLE need to be on a grassroots effort to STOP BULLSHIT MUSIC before it hits the shelves.. Just BAN certain artists from making records for a while.. (I’m sure each of us has SOMEONE in mind.. it ain’t hard to find a crappy ‘artist’ out there) Some of these folks should NOT have the gift of even callin themselves an Artist.. i mean damn.. what ART did they make?
As with everything, I think it starts with the people. We need to get the message out that WE AS LISTENERS DESERVE BETTER..

Keri’s biggest issue is that she isn’t memorable. She doesn’t have a distinctive/unique sound, image, or persona that could sell millions of albums. Best of luck
