Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Denzel Washington and a number of others plan to be at Washington DC’s Lincoln Memorial this weekend for a mega Pre-Inaugural Concert:

Beyonce, U2, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Usher, Shakira, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban and James Taylor are among the musicians scheduled to perform Sunday afternoon. The president-elect and his family are due to attend, with Obama expected to speak.

Other performers include Stevie Wonder, Renee Fleming, Garth Brooks, Mary J. Blige, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles. Historical passages will be read by Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington, with other celebrities expected to join them.

HBO will televise the show at 7 p.m. EST. SOURCE

Lil Wayne is the latest rapper to give back to his hometown, donating $200,000 to help rebuild a playground he grew up in New Orleans:

The Lollipop hit-maker, real name Dwayne Carter III, handed over the cash to officials in charge of Harrell Park, which was destroyed when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. It was used as a trailer site for the local water board in the hurricane’s aftermath, and its heavy equipment left the park’s track and field severely damaged.

However the rapper’s generosity, via his youth empowerment organization One Family Foundation, means officials can now make a start on restoring the recreation area. And Lil Wayne hopes other stars will be inspired to help their communities in the same way. SOURCE

Word on the street, was that American Idol winner Fantasia would be losing her home due to some repayment issues, but the singer recently renegotiated a deal with financers and will keep her house in North Carolina:

The singer, who won the TV talent show in 2004, purchased the six-bedroom house in Charlotte, North Carolina in March 2007 for $1.3 million. But she ran into financial trouble in 2006 after she was forced to borrow more than $68,000 from Broward Energy Partners to pay her taxes.

However, she reportedly failed to keep up with her repayments and the local Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office was due to auction off Barrino’s mansion to help reimburse the company. The property was due to go up for sale on Monday, but the auction was called off after Barrino’s lawyers reached a settlement deal with bosses of Broward Energy Partners. SOURCE
