Jennifer Hudson announced that she plans to return at 2009’s Superbowl and will be singing the National Anthem:

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to the Associated Press on Wednesday that the Dreamgirls Oscar winner, 27, will deliver “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Tampa, Fla., event on Feb. 1.

Her Super Bowl honor will come just days before Hudson is also scheduled to sing the songs of Neil Diamond at a Feb. 6 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles. SOURCE

Hudson has avoided the spotlight due to her terrible family tragedy that occurred last year.

KELIS & NAS EXPECTING?

According to a family friend and US Weekly, Hip Hop couple Kelis and Nas are expecting a little one to join them this year:

“It’s all they are talking about. She is carrying hip-hop royalty!” says the insider, who adds Kelis — currently in her first trimester — already has a little bump. “They are so excited.”

A rep for the singer had no comment. SOURCE

If true, the two have another thing to celebrate this month.

Their Wedding Anniversary is also in January - they wedded this month in 2005.

CHRIS ROCK GETS BOOK DEAL

Chris Rock is coming back - as a book author and has a signed a publishing deal with Grand Central Publishing. Word is, he’s already working on his first project:

Grand Central Publishing says Rock’s new book _ not yet titled _ will be full of “comedic observations.” It’s tentatively scheduled for release next year.

His “Rock This!” was published in 1997.

Deb Futter, vice president and editor-in-chief of hardcovers at Grand Central Publishing, said in a statement Tuesday: “We are so excited to be publishing Chris Rock, especially because he hasn’t published a book in many years so this one will be highly anticipated.” SOURCE

I’m happy for Jennifer for trying to move forward. I heard about her come back earlier this week and wasn’t sure if it were true or not but it seems as though she has confirmed it herself.

My question when I first heard of this was who and why would she have passed on singing at the inauguration and rather choose to sing at a Super Bowl Party??!! But who are we to judge and determine what she does. I just thought it would be more fitting to be a part of such a historic moment and would be more than honored to be asked to sing at such a prestige’s event as our FIRST African American President is sworn in. Nonetheless, I’m glad to see she’s trying to move forward and I wish her nothing but the best during her transition back into the spotlight. Her voice will be a definite treat!

It seems some of you guys were mis-informed on why Jennifer Hudson won’t be singing at the Inauguration, (it’s not your fault, it’s the decieving media who reported this false information)……So let me try and clear some things up:

The reason Jennifer Hudson is not singing the national anthem at the inauguration is because she was never asked to do this (Jennifer Hudson was invited to sing at one of the inauguration ceremonial balls). Aretha Franklin was asked to sing the national anthem on the steps of the capitol at the inauguration way prior. Jennifer Hudson will definitely be singing at the Super Bowl, and you will be blown away!

She’s actually reading various scripts for movie roles (some of which she’s already landed). She’s currently working on a movie “loosely based” on her life from losing american idol, to achieving stardom, and then her family tragedy. Contrary to beliefs, she’s already in talks about her next album with execs….which will be a duet album featuring/covering all genres. It will be R&B, country,hip-hop, broadway, opera, and rock. She’s coming back BETTER THAN EVER (her voice is amazing)! Rest assure that Jennifer Hudson is a force to be reckoned with on her comeback, and she’s definitely coming back with something to sing about……YOU can trust that!

Jennifer Hudson was never asked to sing at the Inauguration, and Barack already perosnally asked her to sing the national anthem at the DNC (which she did) so I doubt she is tripping off singing or not singing at the Inauguration it’s an honor that she has already had.
