SAD NEWS: DR. DRE’S SON / JOHN TRAVOLTA’S SON

Saturday, January 3, 2009

A coroner’s report released on Friday reveals that Dr. Dre’s son, Andre Young Jr. died from an overdose of heroin and morphine on August 23. He was 20. The coroner ruled his death as accidental and says the case is closed.

According to reports, Young returned home from hanging out with friends that night and his mother, Jenita Porter, recalled hearing him snoring around 5:30 a.m.

When she checked on him in his room around 10 a.m., she found him unresponsive and called 911. Paramedics pronounced him dead at their Woodland Hills, California home.

JOHN TRAVOLTA’S SON

John Travolta’s son, Jett, suffered a seizure at his family’s vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. According to reports, he fell and hit his head on the bathtub. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he died on the scene. He was 16.

Named for his dad’s love of flying, Jett had a history of seizures after being diagnosed at age 2 with Kawasaki disease, an illness that leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

Travolta’s attorney, Michael Ossi, said that the teen’s death “was completely out of the blue”, and add added: “This is the worst day of John’s life.”

We here are Concrete Loop extend our condolences to both of these young men’s families.

YOUNG HOLLYWOOD

Saturday, January 3, 2009 /

In 2009, can we please STOP PLAYING and show our kids how drug abuse leads to sadness, demise and death!!! We are losing too many of OUR children (black, white and all in between) to drugs and alcohol. Let’s get a hold of them and get them involved in positive activities and focused on school and going to college. So much so, they won’t have time to think about ruining their lives by abusing drugs. I know we can’t be with our kids all the time, but when u love yourself and know that other people love you and you believe your life has purpose you just might think about your actions before you do something crazy. Love ya’ll have a Happy and Prosperous NEW YEAR :)

O my..how sad. Two great men lost their beloved son. I can’t imagine the loss en grieve they are experiening. I hope they rest in peace and are in heaven. My condolences go out to their family and near ones. Only 20 and 16 years old, how unfortunate. Their photos make me even more sad..A whole life ahead.

P.S. Young Hollywood, I really agree to your point of view. We need to focus and stimulate the positive and our reason of life. Make the world a better, loving and caring place to live. About drugs and alcohol..remember to always think twice…

R.I.P. Andre Young Jr.

This is sad news. Dr. Dre’s son his situation could have totally been avoided. I’m sorry to hear that he lost a son so young to something as silly as drugs. I blame rap for making sippin cough syrup a popular thing to do, its basically legalized meth. I know it said heroine and morphine but those are trace elements in that syrup sh*t! Whatever it was R.I.P young homie.

So sad for John Travolta’s son. What a tragedy.

My prayers go out to both these families.

I am shocked, saddened, and speechless. I also recognize that these families will need time to heal from such great losses. I will keep you in my prayers and by the way, I still have a mad crush on Dr. Dre.. Anyway, your son is so handsome and I have a son his age and I too recognize that we are living in a time that nothing is promised. We just never know. So please lean on the Lord for he will be your strength in your mighty time of need.

With a lifetime of love and prayers,

Lisha

ANYBODY ELSE NOTICE THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE A SEASON FOR DEATHS? LIKE THERE’S A SEASON WHEN A LOT OF PEOPLE DIE FROM HEART ATTACKS, THEN THERE’S A SEASON WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, YOU HEAR ALOT OF PEOPLE DIE FROM CANCER. THEN THERE’S A SEASON THAT ALOT OF WOMEN DIE AND COME UP MISSING AT THE HAND OF THEIR BOYFRIEND/SPOUSE, THEN THERE’S A PERIOD WHERE ALOT OF TEENS DIE FROM DRUNK DRIVING. AND THERE’S A SEASON WHERE ALOT OF BABIES DIE.

JUST SOMETHING I NOTICED…DEATHS THAT ARE ALIKE SEEM TO BE GROUPED TOGETHER IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND THERE’S ANOTHER SEASON….WEIRD.

MY CONDOLENCES TO THESE FAMILY. MUST BE A HARD PILL TO SWALLOW WHEN YOU RAISE A CHILD AND GET THEM ALL THE WAY TO A TEENAGER, AND THEY DIE….MY HEART GOES OUT TO THESE FAMILIES.

@ #5…..poor kid, not poor kids. Aint nothing poor about Dre’s son. He did something dumb so…his family shudnt expect smart results.

It makes me fukin sick to kno that blk kids with so much priviledge and access to so much cud waste their parents money and their time on dumb shit like drugs.

I am a 21 y/o 4.0 GPA college student struggling my ass off to become something in life. No help, no scholarship, no parents but yet im smart enough to make smart choices with out having parents or money to make it any easier. So I don’t feel sorry in anyway that boy.

@ #19 (and i know this is off-topic, but idc) … how you gonna sit here and scold folks about what you’re doing with your life? clearly this 4.0 isn’t being earned as an english major. the kid didn’t purposely go out and die (we don’t think). he did something dumb but that still shouldn’t detract from the sadness of the situation. have a heart.

I have a 16 year old son and I have had several conversations with him about sex and drugs already. However, DEATH is a FINAL thing. There’s no room to discuss the coulda, shoulda, woulda’s now. My heart goes out to the parents, Dr Dre and mom. No parent should have to bury their own child. My mom has done it and I can’t imagine because it hasn’t happened to me.

So, some of you all if you don’t have your own children, GO SIT THE HELL DOWN!

Also, my condolences go out to John. This was certainly an unexpected tragedy. Your son will be among the Angels and no longer suffering. God Bless!

@# 19 with much due respect for attaining and maintaining a 4.0 in your anger you show ignorance while I am not pleased with the cause of death understand that we all choose our own path in life whether in a favorable position or not there are many before him who have made that mistake and there will be many after that it is simply life all you can do is use that as motivation to be a better friend and person to try and be an example for those around you and help them to see the error in decisions they may proceed to make BUT they still make their own choices and with that said condolences to both families and to everyone on this site I wish you a happy, prosperous, and blessed 2009

I agree with a lot of you all’s comments here. My prayers do go out to John’s family and Dre’s too.

I really don’t mean to be mean but is anyone else wondering where Dr. Dre was in his son’s life to prevent this from happening? Experimenting with Heroin and Morph.is no joke.. Weed.. ok maaaybe.. but Hardcore drugs like that?

How much time was Dre actually spending with him as a child? I pray no one else loses their children to drugs.

This is not a very good note to kick the New year off with….Very tragic. my prayers go out to Dr. Dre and his family, who lost a son to drugs. and Also to JT who lost a Son to………..Tragic accident. People who had something bad/negative about dres son really need to take a step back and evaluate themselves and the situation. you say (#19) he has too much priviledge for drugs…thats probably what exposed him to the drugs. You should look at yourself and thank God for your struggle that makes you the person you are today, and not an overprivledged person. BUT YOUR STILL AN ASS FOR SAYING WHAT YOU SAID! these souls are now resting in peace. NOTHING HAPPENS OUT OF GODS WILL!!

@#19…..you just proved having a 4.0 dont make you no smarter and especially no WISER then the next man. That was a terrible thing to say, especially about someone so young. Yes ppl make crazy choices but I truly believe what Dr.Dre son did was truly a mistake. No man is perfect and just because your out here on your grind doesnt make you any better then the next person or entitled to say something so heartless; you would have been better off just commenting on JOHN’s son death. Everybody is entitled to mistakes unfortunately for some its too late to re-do. But unlike most MEN in this world God forgives.

Anyways. May God be with John and Dr.Dre…I know how it feels to loose someone sooo very close to you. But the best part about death is that its not the end. Only the beginninng and if you believe in God you can trust to see your loved ones again.

God Bless.Stay Wise.

@#28
WEED is not a drug. that is what the system tells the world because of the way most ppl use it as if it WERE A DRUG or when they potent it to make it stronger. Thats like saying God created drugs. WEED is simply a plant that can be used for an abundance of things especially healing, but most ppl choose to smoke it(and chemicalize it when it already has a natural chemical). And anything to me abused can hurt or kill you. Even though weed cannot kill you physically, if abused it can most certainly be damaging.

The government is shady…they tell the world not to do drugs but they sell cigarettes and give a plethora of drugs to children and offer drugs for depression and selll alchohol…they doin all the things they arrest dealers in the street for. THIS WORLD IS SHADY. The government are the REAL PUSHERS…If they really were against drugs it wouldnt be so easy to get in stores and it wouldnt be advertise on tv EVERYDAY for almost antyhing. The street pharmacist..I honestly believe they are no worse then the ads we see about drugs…being able to stop BIRTH…DEPRESSION…WEIGHT LOSS…THIS AND THAT….THEY HAVE A DRUG FOR ALMOST EVERYTHING. before we can get the street pharmacist to stop pushin drugs the goverment has to go first. But like most street pharmacist they love the MONEY too.

God offers natural healing to us…yet MEN choose to create toxins and drugs that can lead to death if abuse for the easy way out of things…like weight loss…or vanity such as looks…or for women who want to be promiscuous and not deal with the reality of being impregnated and so forth and so forth.

The battle between drugs and junkies will never END as long as drugs and the stuff to make it are available…we are too deep in this crisis to pull ourselves out ….Only God has the power to cure to end it all.

So please never stop praying for peace because one day our prayers will be answered :)

@ 21….Yes, my 4.0 GPA is not being earned in english. Its just one of the 5 other languages that I speak. My english may not be as fine as yours but I know I could tear you down in any test, exam, or general conversation. So before you try insulting someone for making typo’s check your self.

@ 26….How am I ignorant? For stating my opinion? Everyone here seems more sorry for Dre’s son than they are too John’s son, when John’s son was an acident and Dre’s son was the result of something dumb. Cal me ignorant, but im sorry, im not sad at the least bit about this. Don’t get me wrong, Im not happy he died or anything but I am just not sad either.

@29…again english is not my first language. Its just one of the many languages I am fluent in. How in the world am I immature for not feeling sorry for some dumb fukin retard who go out and do dumbs. You do dumb shit, you get dumb results.

@ 36…Yes your right getting a 4.0 GPA doesn’t make me any smarter or wiser but atleast I am striving to become something and I ain’t out on the streets overdosing on heroin and morphine.

Black people we aint going to never change. If this was some white person yall would have been bashing the hell out of him. I remember when Anna Nicole son died from drugs everyone was calling him dumb. Same script different cast, but now it’s so sad. Bullshit!

Call me heartless, call me ignorant, call dumb or whatever you want but I don’t feel sorry. Maybe if he was killed on his way to school, or died in the studio making music or something productive I would be, but doing drugs?

I cannot believe the things I’m reading~~ Have we come to this about life itself ? I can not believe that life has no value because of how we die. Regardless we can’t bring that person no matter HOW they die. It’s such a lost no matter what the color.

49.

Sunday, January 4, 2009 /

I agree with people on here that know from a parent standpoint how sad these tragedies are. Yes drugs are bad we all know. I have 2 daughters and they will learn about drugs.

The incident with JT hits home because my youngest daughter was born with Sturge Weber syndrome in which causes seizures and she is 6 months and spent a total of 3 of those months in the newborn intensive care unit at the childrens hospital. Seizures are scary and many people just don’t know how serious they are. I hold my child tight everytime I get her. This syndrome is given to every 1 out of 1,000,000 infants are born with that.

My prayers are with both families because we take time to break the chains of our pasts if we were raised without fathers or mothers and do not do the same to our kids.

Time is too short and this shows that our kids our the future for us. We always want our kids to bury us not us to bury them. Anyone who reads this just keep on praying and keep your head up. Peace

This is to MEME # 19. You may be intelligent enough to earn a 4.0 gpa , you may score the highest on test amongst your fellow peers but you are ignorant and with ignorance breeds arrogance and that is not intelligent at all. A family lost a child wether it was to drugs or to something else this is a life here. Yes its unfortunate that so many individuals who have it easy make choices that effect them or in this case kill them but we as people on the outside looking in do not know the situation of dr.dre and his son. Alot of times these children abuse drugs because their is a lack of parental supervison at home. We do get older and know the difference
between right and wrong, but it is still a sad loss. Your not god so dont cast judgment remember ? theres a difference ,Like the difference bewteen a 4.0 student that is intelligent enough to comment when its valid or the 4.0 student who is too ignorant and doesnt know when to comment and does it anyway

wow heroin and morphine. that is a physical addiction. you cannot just kick that kind of addiction without help. it only takes 3 times to get addicted. meaning doing this drug 3 days in a row is enough to have you have sick as a dog without it on the fourth day. one of my many friends was addicted to it and she gave me the rundown. she was young as hell when she started also. she was on that stuff when we were like 18 or 19 but i never knew. even when i saw her nodding i still did not know until someone confirmed it for me.this is so sad. as for john, his son’s death is the topic on other sites and what they are saying is that thier religion is to blame. scientology. i don’t know i was not there. they say john was in denial that his child was autistic and some autistic children are pron to seizures.

@ 46, 47 Meme.

MEME, except for the grace of God, we have all done dumb things…even the president-elect had his days of experimenting with drugs. He got older and he wised up before the “rocks” fell on him. Baby eagle are always found dead just below the nest.

You will learn that the mistakes of our youth, are just human nature and no one is exempt from spreading their wings. Someday, God may bless you to have children of your own and you will watch them grow and you will know their hearts. When your children make mistakes, you will not want to hear people calling them dumb. Then and only then will you fully understand why others are sadden by these sudden deaths.

Sooner or later, you’ll come clean and stop saying things like you have “no help, no scholarship, no parents”…Bull$#!T. You getting money from somewhere! Somebody’s spraying some oil on yo a$$! Come clean! Stop trying to make your African a$$ look good at the expense of others. You’re no better than anyone else! Just a foolish liar! “No help” my a$$!

Who paid for the computer you’re blogging on? Who helped you come to America? Who died for your civil rights? Did you get into college on your looks?

I know that all Africans are not arrogant, but we’ve seen these “high-minded” attitudes over and over again on CL. So, let me appologise in advance to my African brothers and sisters who see clearly. But, when I hear someone talking about their great achievements, multi-languages and calling people dumb…It’s always leads back to Africans. Plus, the name “Meme” is kind of a give away.

Now…Ms. 4.0! You get an “F” for interpersonal relations.

We should not criticize people but lift up and encourage one another during these times. Life is too short for the hating and backbiting. If you have youth in your life whether if it’s your cousin, child, nephew or associate…inspire them, be present in their life and love them while they are still here. Be that positive light and example so they choose to do good works in their life. You never know when God calls for any of us.

I hope both families find strength and comfort From God in their loss.

Firstly I am not african. I am black but I am not from africa. You guys are so steriotypical towards people of other nationalities but can’t admit the bullshit your own people do. All black americans woman want to do is go to the salon to get nail and hair down to their ass when they don’t have one bit of education in their heads. And all african american men want to do is go out on the streets doing drugs, and buy impala’s on 20’s. Then yall want to sit back and wonder why white people have all the good jobs and all black with high end jobs are non american.

But whatever I don’t give a shit what you people on this board think of me. Like I said im going places. And for the record everything I have I owned myself @ 65. Not from drug money, not from selling ass, not from parents, not from scholarships. I saved money I worked for so I can come to this country to use up the facilities african americans take for granted.

I am very saddened by the tragic accident of Mr. Travolta’s son- which he is one of my fav. actors. I am praying for the soul of his son and the heartbreak of his family

I am hurt, yet disturbed by the outcome of Dr.Dre’s son…..I am prayinfg for the soul of this young man as well and the recovery of his family as well. But I still have some resolve about the situation….nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the sadness

Can somebody PLEASE give MeMe a f*&ing cookie!!!! Are you looking for a pat on the back or something… i mean damn!!! Some nerve you have. You call African American men and women stereotypical but yet you make a stereotypical statement. What does that make you? I’m sure there are plenty of well educated, hard working people on this blog but we don’t make it a point to put others down to make ourselves look good. We don’t need to spell out our accomplishments, education, etc to the wholeworld to feel good about ourselves. Holla at me some times, I can teach you something. It’s call confidence! Humble yourself sweetheart. You’re no better than anyone else and just like it happened to Dr. Dre’s son (may he rest in peace) it can happen to you and/or someone in your family.

I kinda agree with “MeMe” original point.

*hangs head in shame*

In regards to John Travolta’s son…I’ve heard about the Scientology comments, that that cult may have been responsible for his death due to their denial about mental illnesses.

What a shame to kick off the new year with so many losses.

@ 72 I understand what you are saying and yes I do know that there are alot of african americans who are educated and have accomplishments…but on this board…I highly dout it. And I am not spelling out my sccomplishments to make myself feel anybody….shit do you really want me to spell out the accomplishments i’ve made at my school in just one year? I don;t think concreteloop has enough space for that.

The only reason I said that I am a hard working 21 y/o with a 4.0 GPA was to get my point across. I just feel like too many priviledge african americans do dumb things with their parents money instead of using it to excel. I know everyone makes mistakes and maybe I am just jealous because I don;t have it as easy as others who take it for granted. Shit…I wish Dre was my father, I sure wouldnt be out doing drugs, I would be going for my doctor’s.
