VIDEO: PRESIDENT OBAMA & THE FIRST LADY SHARE A DANCE

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama danced their way through 10 official inaugural balls Tuesday night, after a historic day in American history.

The Obamas were serenaded by Beyoncé during their first dance at the Neighborhood Ball, where she sang Etta James’ “At Last,” from her role in the movie “Cadillac Records.”

Before the dance, Obama addressed the crowd, which erupted in applause when he entered the room.

“First of all, how good-looking is my wife?” Obama beemed.

IS IT AN UNSPOKEN RULE THAT YOU HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR WHEN YOU’RE A POWERFUL, SUCCESSFUL BLACK WOMAN (MICHELLE OBAMA, OPRAH, THE OBAMA DAUGHTERS, CONDI RICE….)??

The hating that some of y’all do is truly sad.

Beyonce did a fine job. Don’t be mad because she’s a part of history. And you? Ch…

Of course it was the Obamas moment and they are a lovely couple, but no need to hate on Beyonce in the process.

Wow…not a big fan of Bey anymore, but I will say…this was the Bey I loved back in the day. If she were this humble and sincere all the time, I think all the “haters” would still like her…

Also, lets not forget that this was not about Bey or any other celebrity…I was proud of them all. HOWEVER, stans please dont get your panties up in a bunch just yet because I dont care how well Bey did on this…her career - outside of this day - is still going to be a flop. I will give her this…she is going out with style.

That was very beautiful, they could have been dancing to the sound of the wind and it would have still been nice. Beyonce…….. not a fan and I also thought there should have been a stronger singer… idk maybe the orginal singer of the song!? Oh how i wish Jennifer could have just hummed something but i understand. Anyway love the Obamas, very beautiful to see a black couple in love and in power.

That dance was beautiful. It was great to see them enjoy each other and act like they really loved each other.

I’m just happy Beyonce didn’t try to outshine the Obamas with various vocal inflections that don’t belong in the song. She showed her respect while performing.

This was one moment in time..

Beyonce dress, vocals and everything was on point for this moment…

Everyone did a marvelous job, we represented like we all know we could. I though it was funny how a station mentioned that there was no arrest made throughout the whole thing…

Not to deflect from the event but why are some people nit picking Beyonces dress and her pertruding nipple when Mariah had her cantaloup cleavage exposed the whole performance, come on now, let’s not turn this into a bash beyonce thing.

I’m so proud to have been able to witness this moment in history, even though I’m young ,I can still appreciate it.

What are some of yall that blinded by hate for Beyonce. GET OVER IT. This was first dance was about President Barack Obama and The ever so lovely First Lady Michelle Obama. This is truly not the time to be nitpicking about who should have sang, who YOU dont like, what YOU dont like, so on and so on. You know why, because nobody gives a sh*t about who yall like and who you dont like. Like I said this day belong to the President and his Wife. When one of your spouses becomes President, then you can decide who should perform at the inaugural balls. Until then have a coke and a smile and shut the f*ck up.

Why do dumba** people always have to ruin it for everybody. This moment was unbelieveably beautiful. The Obamas inspire me so much and everytime I look at them, they make me want to become stronger, wiser, better. This is now the time to truly lift one another up. Leave the negativity in the gutter. Aspire to be much more than you are. That is for everybody.

{Lets be respectful yall}

PRESIDENT and FIRST LADY OBAMA looked absolutely breathtaking. President Obama is so charming and I love the fact that he points out how Beautiful our First Lady is. I have to say though Mr. President seems to have two left feet :) I could not help but to become misty eyed as a read his lips telling our First Lady “I love you” with so much passion in his eyes.

You could just see and hear the Pride in Denzel’s voice as he introduced the the first family. It was so magical to see the flow of emotions that Bey was overcome with, you can not blame her, the whole evening was dazzling and one that I will never forget.

Now the work begins.

@ 103- on the day after we inaugurate our first African-American POTUS you wish death upon a young positive African-American woman? That’s messed up on so many levels on ANY day, actually. SICK!

The Obamas have stated in many interviews they are fans of Beyonce (as well as Stevie, Mary, etc.) and how the kids are huge Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus fans (the JBros surprised the girls after the White House scavenger hunt last night, btw). So, it’s only fitting that those singers were among the selected performers. Etta James had no problem with Bey portraying her nor remaking her song so why should anyone else? I heard the wonderful Ms. James sing her own song a few years ago and while her voice is lovely, it’s not the same as when the song was recorded. If it was good enough for the Obamas, it should be good enough for everyone else. Their joy and love was evident on their faces, as was their appreciation for Beyonce singing “their” song. All I’m saying is “It’s a NEW DAY!” so let’s just come together and be happy. Peace

Thursday, January 22, 2009 /

THE REASON THEY CHOSE BEYONCE INSTEAD OF A MORE “POWERFUL” SINGER AS SOME OF YOU PEOPLE CALL IT IS BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT ANYONE SCREAMING FOR THE FIRST COUPLES DANCE. IT WAS SUCH A SOFT AND SERENE MOMENT, THEY DIDN’T WANT ANY OVERBARING VOCALIST PERFORMING. I THINK SHE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. THE WHOLE EVENT WAS BEAUTIFUL

Sidenote: Yah need to leave Beyonce alone! WTF? I mean her last album was not the best but one thing homegirl never fails is a performance! She sang perfectly for the President and First-Lady…It was nice and initimate! She made the spotlight just for them and out herself in the shadow…She did her job! Point blank, nobody in our generation does it better!!! Beyonce= Best performer alive! She works hard for that title!

That is the best I’ve seen Beyonce act. Goodness knows how long she stood infront the mirror practising that one. Then again, she cries at all her shows at the exact same time. Nothing new. She may finally get her Oscar.
