Jeezy was very bold to record this song before the election was over, but you know what they say, all things work together for the greater good.
I wasn’t really feeling Jeezy when he first came out with all the Snowman antics and whatnot, but I do think he’s come a long way.
I wish the video had included more footage of Obama and all the supporters who worked so hard for him. I love Nas!

I am cautiously optimistic about Obama’s presidency, but I sort of think that all of this media hype is trivializing it. Obama may be the president-elect, but we can’t forget that half of the country did not vote for him and a portion of that half is extremely resistant to his leadership. The Secret Service has never been so strong before and this man is in more danger than any prez before him. I think releasing pompous, braggadocious songs does not really serve his mission and may make him more of a target to the people that don’t want him there anyway. I think we should just be cool, no bragging, just be cool. Let the man do his job. Also, I think people have an unreal expectation of what he can do and are expecting a miracle; like he can personally lift up the ghetto. C’mon, many of these systems have been in place for decades and what ails our communities in particular and the country in it’s entirely will not be cured in a few months or in a four-year term. With all this attention, I get the feeling that this is the hailing right before the nailing. Expectations are too high and we need to be realistic or we’re going to be crucifying Obama in no time.

#27, Junk, I have to agree with most of the things you said. There are alot of people out there thats is watching his every move and as soon as he makes the SMALLEST mistake, the media will blow it way out of porportion. I don’t believe he’s going to do miracles, and the ghetto will still be the ghetto. Its up to the people to use him as an example and do something better with your life.
Overall though, I am glad to see such an intelligent black man in the highest office in America. I am very proud. And it was so nice to see all of the elderly people witness a part of history like this.
I don’t like the Jeezy album, but I do like this song and video.

Im so dissapointed in this song. I have respect for Nas but this song was ignorant. Why do black people always have to throw in their material possessions in order to get a point across? Its as if black people can’t comprehend anything unless its material, flashy and expensive. So what you have a blue lambo, green money and some rims…how ignorant and trivial.
Lust and greed will be the ultimate downfall of man.

You like to watch him hold his d* and talk about his blue lab while you’ ride the damn bus. All that thuggish mess. Get of his jock and do something positive for yourself and your community. No, I don’t like the song. Nor am I aware of the great things he does for the community because it’s over shadowed about the other bs I hear. Like the next female he’s cheating on and disrespecting. Give me a break…I don’t hero worship and if I did I’ll get a better role model.

I see him doing more than any other rapper and he gets my respect all day, every day.

I absolutely loved the video, just to see all the people together and see all the types of people and races. It wasn’t just black people which destroys all the stupid rumors people still try to say to this day.
The song itself, the only part I liked was “my president is black” because there were a lot of trivial things that makes the song lose its depth. The rims, money, curses, and n***** words made me hate the chorus and part of the song. The song could have been better without all that stuff in it.

Do you people even listen to the lyrics to the music:
My president is black, my Lambo’s blue
And I’ll be goddamned if my rims ain’t too
My momma ain’t at home, and daddy’s still in jail
Tryna make a plate, anybody seen the scale?
My president is black, my Lambo’s blue
And I’ll be goddamned if my rims ain’t too
My money’s light green and my Jordans light grey
And they love to see white, now how much you tryna pay?
Let’s go!
Are you kidding? This chorus alone is a revelation of what should be expected at the end of Obama’s tenure as president.

No one is going to kill Obama. People will let him fail on his on. I didnt vote for him but I do want him to do well because we dont need another Clinton. OBAMA please leave taxes alone. He is going to have to do a little more than take pictures, and requesting the 350 without accounting for the last was a big Mistake.
What in the hell dose rims have to to do with the president being black. This is more proof that nothing has really changed. Like I said I and my family have been fine the last eight years. What I think is funny is the fact that CA and Florida are two of the biggest tourist state with state taxes and barely have enough money to pay out tax returns and are begging for bailouts, mean while Texas is making up stuff to do with the surplus we have been carrying since 98. CA and Florida Obama, Texas McCain. Good thing we can vote for our own Local leaders. Rick Perry 2010

Using the word “nigga” in a pro Obama song is against your best interests. Obama’s presidency represents unity, change and hope.

Personally I dont like the song. Im extemely proud and happy for Obama but Jeezy’s lyrics are appalling. If he’s gonna write a song about the president, he should at least have removed the curse words and the boasting about his own personal wealth.
Regarding the ongoing debate above ^ this is a gossip blog and people are entitle to their opinion. There is no need to jump down someones thraots because they don’t agree with you or don’t like a certain song. It is possible to disagree wih someone withot having a virtual dispute-some people need to grow up.

What an amazing video and song. When I was done watching it I just took a deep breath and smiled. I feel so proud to be African American right now, not that I’m not everyday but I am just so filled w/ pride and happiness. I really want to know where I can purchase one of those T-shirts too. I go to a predominately caucausian university and unfortunately I will be in class during the inaguaration. I wish they would cancel classes for such a historic event but unfortunately they are not. I really am truly happy and I’m so glad that Jeezy and Nas got together to make this anthem.

sowhat_12345678,
Wow I had no idea about some of the things in the chorus. Thank you. What a silly song after all. I guess “my president is black” was just to get people’s attention. Pure ignorance and deceit. If he’s such a great lyricist why not spend a song dedicated to the new president talking about what he overcame and where he came from? Or perhaps talk about his qualities and credentials? This is pure ignorance. I guess I missed half of what he said because it was being blanked out by the curses. SMH

@ 55, JA:
I’ve read about how protecting him is much more difficult for any president proceeding him and that a lot of precautionary measures have had to be taken to protect him and his family. During the campaign, a lot of efforts had to be put in place and a lot of stops re-routed and cancelled altogether for safety concerns. However, you may be right, if the worse that happened to Bush, despite all of the global damage he helped to cause, was a shoe thrown at his head…then Obama will be just fine. In any case, I think you and your families are rarities in the sense that economically you have been unaffected by this economic downturn. Most people have admitted (a study just came out) that they are struggling. It tends to hit the poor/lower-income first and the hardest. However, the economic issues of the poor tend to be a litmus test for what will take place for everyone - both middle and upper-class - eventually. I feel that with this recession, everyone is taking a loss in one way or another. I do agree with you that Bush is not solely responsible for the economic downturn (although he certainly made it no better), Clinton actually played a strong part in it, but that’s usually ignored. I also don’t see the link you’re trying to make between the tax situation in CA and FL to that of Texas. I don’t think it matters which direction the states leaned politically (Obama or McCain) - remember CA has been a Democratic state for a long time - even before this economic crisis when their economy was flourishing. A more reasonable argument would be the likely misuse and misappropriation of state funds by state officials.
That said, I think we need to let Obama’s efforts speak for themselves and keep our expectations reasonable.
…and stop writing dumb-ass songs about rims and damn tennis shoes. I can’t abide a grown ass man who’s obsessed with the same things as a young boy: cars, gym shoes and impressing their friends. Jeezy’s a grown man, if he wants to really affect the community in a positive way, start talking about how to be financially stable (i.e. not living above your means, investing, IRAs, etc). I guarantee it’ll be the most boring song that was ever written but at least people will learn something they can really use.

i agree if people ACTUALLY LISTEN CAREFULLY to the lyrics and not just bop their heads to the catchy tune and ‘my president is black’ line. then they would see that this pro obama song is smothered with boasting, greed, and enforcing negative sterotypes of black ppl ( dad’s in jail). the swearing and ‘nigga’ word could have been omitted. New year, same things are still happening
obama is almost destined to fail everyone is expecting so much out of him as earlier, even HE said that things are going to take a long time to improve. people need to see him as the human he is and be realistic about what he can achieve given the cards he has been dealt with, than put him on an pedestal that continues to rise.
this isn’t in any way trying to take away what he has achieved and what he may be possible of achieving
everyone is entitled to their opinion, don’t crucify just because some decides not to join the choir.

I’m happy alot of people are proud of the achievement of OBAMA.
But I feel that we shouldn’t over-state this presidency.
We should be reminded that obama didn’t run for African Americans alone, but as he stated, he ran to change Americans problems and resolve it w/ intelligent and efficient solutions.
I am proud of his achievement, and I’m proud how he was able to unite us, blacks whites, Asians, Hispanics together and believe he was the man for the job.
We can celebrate, I really think as Americans, we should be proud of this accomplishment, after what this country has overcame.
However we shouldn’t over-state it.
because we didn’t do it alone.

The lyrics says you motivate me everyone wakes up at different levels, my president is black is enough does that mean jeezy shoud all off a sudden should become politically educated overnight, i never thought i would see a black president in u,s,a in my lifetime but since then have become more increasingly involved in politics i too like jeezy am learning nas has been historically lyrically involved for a while, you could tell with his lyrics the visual concept of the video was beautiful as jeeezy said look out part 2

my president is black.

what does a lambo have to do with anything. just more materialism. aren’t we in a recession? it’s like we’re going back two steps.
