Novel – DAMN
Meet Novel, an emerging artist who’s worked with the likes of India.Arie, Alicia Keys and Beyoncé. His forthcoming debut on Capitol Records, The Audiobiography, is set to drop March 24th and is equal parts sung and rapped. The album is entirely self-made, with a few collaborations with Dallas Austin, producer No I.D., and DJ Toomp.
It’s only fitting, though, with such a strong musical lineage. Novel’s grandfather is Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Solomon Burke and his father is former Motown VP Mickey Stevenson.
As singer, songwriter, MC & producer of the project, you might think Novel would feel pressured about the whole thing. He says, “I’m comfortable because most conscious artists get caught up and boxed in this one particular area, and feel like they can’t do wrong, they can’t make any mistakes. We’re all human; I have my flaws, I make mistakes, so I try to keep it, ‘This is me, this is my life, this is who I am.’”

I would have liked him anyway because he cute *jokes* He sound like a black version of Robin Thicke if that makes any sense. I would love to hear more of his music. The song along is just okay, better then most of the stuff I hear on the radio though.

Sounds just like D’angelo with a touch of Prince and as much as I loooooove those two artists I don’t appreciate mimicks.
Novel is probably very talented but in the words of Billie Holiday no two people are the same, thus no two pieces of music should be the same

I remember Novel from a couple of years ago,there was a buzz about him for a minute and then he dropped off the map.Though he may not be very well-known right now,he certainly has the talent to make some noise in the industry.
I liked him when he came out years ago with the song called “Peach” I believe.
Novel has been out before.. This isn’t his debut.. I don’t know how many know about the song “Peach” it was a good song.. came out a few years ago.. Search the song and video..
YEAH NOVEL BEEN OUT. I AIN’T HATIN’ BUT HE’S NOT EXACTLY NEW TO BE DOING THE ARTIST SPOTLIGHT ON. “PEACH” WAS SORT OF A HIT BACK THEN, SO IF THIS NEW STUFF DOESN’T TAKE OFF, CONSIDER HIM A ONE-HIT WONDER.
Yo ! I cant stand a damn clone, But when its done right, when its actually sounds really good. (Robin Thicke, Glenn Lewis, etc. ) I don’t condone it but I can at least tolerate it and this songs actually really good. Yes indeed though, prince and d’angelo’s genetically spliced together. Shame

I loved that song “Peach”, I wondered what happened to him! I’m glad to see he’s been doing his thing since then. He seems like he would say he has “grown” musically since then, but…I’m not sure I like where he has grown towards. I think he’d still do better with that “Peach” type music. I look forward to hearing more from him to see if I’m right or not.

Novel does sound like D’Angelo and Prince…
…but there’s nothing wrong with that. D’Angelo’s missing in action and Prince is handing out Watchtowers. Novel is a great space-filler. Plus, I think vocals aside, he has his own thing going.
I loved “Peach”…glad to see him stepping back into the spotlight.

Robin Thicke wrote this song…..It was on the soundtrack to one of those step up movies…I think it was the second one

Loves it… He’s a true artist: writes and produces his own music! Doesn’t need to be taught how to sing a song and be manufactured. Though there is nothing wrong with those who do, however; I feel we should appreciate those special few who can do it all. Novel will definitely be around in this business for a while. I wish him the best!
Ive been a fan of novel for the past 5-6 years, he always puts out quality music whether hes performing it or producing it
yall should go and find his first album, it is a diamond in the rough, its one of the\ose unknown albums you find and wonder why the rest of the world doesnt know about it
