‘Etta’s behavior was bizarre and offensively unprofessional! She appeared to be under the influence of some substance or other. Her raunchy grabbing of her crotch and breasts with added unmentionable miming during numerous songs detracted severely from her weak performance. Two of the seven songs she sang weren’t even her own. I don’t think she completed a whole song correctly all night, either.

It was so strange and disappointing! Someone in Ms. James’ management needs to encourage her to stop performing if this is what she puts out consistently. If I had paid for my ticket, I would have asked for my money back.’

As one of the very few African Americans attending this show I was embarrassed for Etta’s offensive behavior and poor performance. This was my first time ever getting to know this legendary performer. I now am left with this unsavory experience.

Her bitter attacks on Beyonce were totally unacceptable to all in the room. Beyonce’s performance singing “At Last” was outstanding during the Inauguration Ceremonies. I later found out after speaking to one of the band members that opened for Etta, that she was disappointed about not being invited to perform her song at the Inauguration. After seeing her performance, thank goodness the Obama’s didn’t invite her. They spared her additional damage to her legend and those in the audience an unsavory evening. I shared my view with this band member and of course he was defensive, but he know that I was speaking the real deal. I also told him Etta should retire. When performers can no longer give their best to their audiences (who pay $65 plus for a ticket in this economy)it’s time to hang up the shoes. Or in this case, Etta please hang up the pretty red scooter!!!

IEtta has a right to her opinions and views. What is sad is that she chose to do it so tacky. She loses points with me on her delivery. Now I do like Beyonce. I don’t think she stole anything since the song was not Etta’s to begin with. Etta did a remake of the song and made it popular. It is a song that she is known for singing but again its not her song. She did not write it. People sing other people’s songs every day. It’s a matter of tribute to the original artist. I agree with Ms. James’ point HOWEVER; I think she could have verbalized it in much better (classier) way.

I also think that the SAME people who are vehemently saying that the “At Last” song does not BELONG to Etta, are some of the SAME people who have a fit when another artist has covered one of their beloved Beyonce’s songs. Remember - it wasn’t that long ago when SOME of you same people went OFF because Ciara did a version of “Diva”.

I do not blame Etta James for how she feels. She just should have made this known from the get go. She should have NEVER allowed Beyonce to sing her song in the movie. If Etta James thinks she should beat down Beyonce for covering “her song,” then by her own logic, Etta has a couple of ass-kickings coming her way too — ’cause Etta’s version of “At Last” was a cover too!

Etta went on stage in Seattle last week and told the crowd she’s gonna lay the smack down on B for “singin’ my song” at Obama’s Inauguration Ball. But not only did the 71-year-old not write the song, she wasn’t even the first — or second — to record it!

Glenn Miller did it first in 1941, followed by Nat King Cole in 1957. Etta got around to recording it in 1961. In fact, Glenn’s version ranked higher on the Billboard Pop Singles chart than Etta’s ever did.

FYI — neither Miller nor Cole ever threatened to beat Etta’s ass — although it’s about time someone knocks some sense into that lady.

To those who say Etta wasn’t the first to sing the SONG..SO what, she made the song a classic..it’s hers.

I think that Ms. James is entitled to her opinion. She already didn’t want Beyonce to protray her in the film. Which she should have been allowed to have input on who protrays her likelihood, that goes for any biopic..but hey. Also maybe she was insulted that she was not invited to the inauguration and that’s why she feels the way she feels. I don’t think she was being disrespectful, funny, but not disrespectful.

AS people get older they just lose sense of tact and start telling you like it T-I-IS. They be serious but you can’t help but laugh. It’s probably not that deep for her either but due to her older age, her sometimes somewhat small emotions may come out amplified. I would have been hurt too if they didn’t invite me to sing my own song at such a historic event knowing that it was I not the young starlet was there when people sacrificed blood, sweat and tears so that Obama can be where he is today. They could have at least had them both….signifying a bridging of the gap between the old way and the new way…IMO

I understand where Ms. James is coming from, and it’s sad that so many of you act like you know her life story calling her an addict when you only found that out through Beyonce’s portrayal of her in the Cadillac Records movie. She is entitled to her opinion, and like so many other artists, Beyonce is played out. Ms. James just stated what a lot of people in the industry are afraid to. I call it keepin’ it real. Whoop her ass Etta!!!!!

Etta cant even sing the way she use to so why does she even care? Talking like an 11yr.old that just got his bike stolen…. Especially when this is the same chick she asked to play “HER” in a movie…how fuckery is that? Shes old and mad the only thing she USE to have on Beyonce was her voice….lol my girl B gotem sweatin…keep working hard B God did not bless you with those gifts for nothing. Keep’em sweatin and keep God in front of you.
