I agree with you I was a diehard destiny child fan and loved Beyonce’s first album..and when i heard about her coming out with the sasha fierce persona i was really looking forward to that because i thought it would be fresh…i mean i thought she would really push it to the edge and do something with maybe a little rock and roll twist to it…she’s big enough to really experiment now…but instead the whole thing was contrived and very commercial….she’s just not that original….like i said she needs to go away and come back…like madonna did in her hayday…madonna would go away for a year or 2 and then come back completely reinvented..new sound, look and everything…beyonce should do that…enjoy married life for a couple of years and come back completely new…bold and fresh….i have confidence that she could do it..because she is a good performer.

Getting back to the subject at hand, Etta could have been high, drunk, having a senior moment or just disgusted with being overlooked for the inaugural. Seems like she was more hurt than anything to me.

Although she was all kinds of wrong for the public rant, I can kinda see where Ms Etta James is coming from. First, a group of “Hollywood types” and Matthew&nem decide that Beyonce must have a blockbuster movie and they decide that they’re gonna USE her story to promote Beyonce. She has been open from the beginning about how she felt about Beyonce playing her. So, whatever. They make the movie and naturally it’s a flop because Beyonce is not an actress (I don’t care how many classes she takes). Then, Beyonce goes on a worldwide tour, busting out in renditions of Etta’s signature song. Then, Beyonce decides that she MUST be in on this Inauguration thing. Aretha sings at the Inauguration, Stevie is there etc. Beyonce is there too … singing Etta’s damn song!

The only thing this situation tells me is that:

1. Etta has reached the age where she can/will say whatever comes to mind. But from what I hear; Etta has never been at a loss for words.

I feel since the inauguration begun Beyonce went around ” beggin” to perform pledding on TV shows and such. Dead wrong. Beyonce can sing,but has no soul. She’s a good singer,but not great. Etta knows of wht she speaks. Beyonce did not bring Etta back into the limelight.
