AWARENESS: USHER ATTENDS D.C. HEARING ON VOLUNTEERISM
Recording artist Usher Raymond IV attended a hearing on improving America’s commitment to service and volunteerism at the House Education and Labor Committee hearing room on February 25, 2009 in Washington, DC.
The singer joined New Look Foundation President Shawn Wilson and spoke with Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) and Rep George Miller (D-CA) before the hearing.
Last month, Usher led a group of 200 young volunteers in a makeover project at Simon Elementary School in Washington, DC.

Look at Usher trying to be relevant again…I don’t know, it’s so hard to tell if a celebrity is promoting a cause to actually promote that cause, or if they are doing it to promote themselves and to further their career, and to stay in the limelight and around the folks that matter…It’s so hard to tell. Cause his sales were way down last cd….It will probably depend upon how involved he is in the charity….who knows.
Volunteerism is very important, imagine the world we would live in if everyone volunteered.
That’s a good look Usher. It’s great that now that President Obama was elected more people are reaching out to do more to better temselves and the world. No complaints here!

i looooove usher…. that’s my boo!!! anyway… i’ve been volunteering since i was about 15/16….. so for the last 10 years or so i’ve been volunteering…. it makes yoru resume more effective…. it looks good…. people look at you differently when you tell them you volunteer especially when it’s with like the american red cross or some other reputable organizations!!!
It is always good to see “celebs” bringing attention to causes….if it is sincere.

Usher does look nice, but I’m a little suspicious about this volunteer look he’s throwing out there. When celebs do volunteer work or donations, it’s usually NOT in the limelight….but this is. Interesting. Guess, he’s trying to steer people from thinking about that botched surgery his STUPID wife almost died from. I swear, she’s sneaky- he better watch out.

this is some bull. Most of America wont even VOLUNTEER to pay their bill, take care of their kids, and stop take advantage of the government’s dumbness. Thats why we in the mess we in now. where was all this in 2006. If more people were responsible for themselves and their families then we would not have to have money to be spent on holding hearings on VOLUNTEERISM. Yes tax dollars paid for this little gathering so people can brag about how selfless they are( sound silly I know)
