1st! Beautiful Award Ceremony. Slumdog Millionaire killed it and also Benjamin. My girl Kate won for best actress so I was excited! Everyone looked nice, especially Will Smith sexy ass lol!

By the way.. Freida Pinto is an absolutely beautiful girl.. I’m glad that part of the world is getting some recognition… although i dont reside in asia i do in australia and i’m half si lanakan and spanish.. she is so beautiful

They had 5 oscar winners up on the stage and each winner spoke about the current nominee (in the major acting categories). It was very intimate and I’m pretty sure they never did it before. That’s why Halle, Cuba and Whoopi were there. Each nominee started tearing up when they were spoken about. It was very dope.

I also enjoyed the set design and Hugh Jackman’s intro.

Everyone looked great. I wish Taraji or Viola would have won. Queen Latifah was great

As for Beyonce…I am tired of her…why was she even there? She was not nominated for anything and Ms. Popeyes Chicken Carter cannot act.

Wooooop, The BRITS did it big man. Slumdog did it major- 8 Oscars, well done to Danny Boyle, Dev Patel ( loved him in Skins) and Frieda Pinto who is gorgeous. It was fab to see all those kids from Mumbai up on the stage.

I LOVED THIS SHOW! Definitely the best of the award season by far! The former winners talking about each of the current nominees was a great touch, because it made everyone feel special, even if they lost. Thats the best part to me, because you have to do a lot to get nominated for an Oscar. People forget that, and everyone nominated deserves their chance to shine.

The WORST dressed, IMO, will go to Miley Cyrus. She looked a mess…and I know tomorrow Mr. Jay will eat her alive on Fashion Police. LOL

Angelina looked great, as did Taraj. Beyonce did NOT. That dress looked like a bed spread for real. And it was too tight and just plain wrong. Why? why? Why? She is on almost every “worst dress” list I’ve seen.

And her performance is landing her on the “worst” list as well. What a mood killer. The first opening song WORKED but hers did not. I usual think she’s talented but she did not look good tonight. First she looked dumpy, not curvy but dumpy.Second, she Hugh Jackman sounded better than her. And why why why is she going on with “At Last”?? She’s so tired. Way to beat a dead horse!!! Just awful. I cannot defend her on this one. Girlfriend should have stayed HOME.

Queen Latifah did her thing though. Her performance was the best, next to the opening number. What was going on with Alicia’s wig? She must have had a bad hair day. She looked pretty otherwise.

Slumdog was a great film. The show was fun. Everybody looked nice. I wasn’t feeling Bee’s dress though and her performanc was good lipsynced or not.

If anybody refered to my favorite actress Angela Bassett-Vance or Mrs. Vance I would be annoyed as hell. So I understand some of the frustration. IMO the women should keep their names and the men should change.lol.

Beyonce performance with Hugh Jackman was just superbly great and for me an appreciative positive moment for black folk.
If she lip sync it was because many of the songs were old numbers which Bey may not have known the words to and they wanted the performance to be perfect. Face it , it was the academy awards and not some talent show in the hood.

LOL @ the haters questioning Beyonce’s attendance. Don’t get mad coz she was invited and requested to perform and your favorite artists wasn’t. The performance(directed by the legendary director Baz Luhrmann) was pure hot lava,Beyonce and Hugh Jackman got major chemistry and they sure killed it. Queen Latifah’s performance was great, it was very touching. I had no idea she had a voice like that, she could give some of these “music” industry girls a few lessons on how to sing in key, hold a damn note and not use a million vocal mellismas!

Alicia and Taraji’s makeup is dreadful, they look like two witches. I love Taraji’s dress though, apart from the makeup she looks great. Alicia’s wig needs to go!

Why were Vola and Taraj robbed?

For real, Viola was only in about 10 minutes of Doubt…and Taraji…Benjamin Button was good, but she really was the traditional “Black woman caretaker” role…I don’t discount her talent, but that needs to be a deeper role to win the Oscar… I feel like Viola would have won if her part was longer…and Taraji would have won if her part was more tortured.

Stage presentation was really nice, especially during the set/costume design parts…the actors category presentation were very creative and well done. LOL @ the critique of musicals tribute…even the choreographer was like, “eh” when they panned to him at the end. Was Rent mentioned during that though?

Also, why didn’t they mention Eartha Kitt at the review of people who died in the last year?

The Awards were good this year. Hugh was a great host. I liked that he was entertaining and kept the show moving along. Bey did a good job, and it was also a complete surprise because who knew she was performing? Taraji and Viola looked great. Loved how they presented the awards using past winners to sing the nominee’s praises.
