♫ NEW MUSIC: D. WOODS – “ON MY SIDE”
Check out new material from former Danity Kane bandmate, D. Woods. Since being “fired” and then asked to come back to Danity Kane on the last season of MTV’s Making the Band 4, D. Woods has begun work on a solo album, which is tentatively titled Independence Day. She’s popped up at a couple of shows around the city, performing her new material, and it seems as though fans have been responding well to the songs.
D. Woods put a couple different tracks up on her MySpace page, which has been recently revamped, and I’m liking the sound that she’s going for. She’s showcasing both her vocal ability, and her talent as a writer. It is clear why she was one of the stand-outs from the group.

She sounds awesome and I am rooting for her. Lots of DK fans are disappointed that they aren’t together anymore, but the best way to prove you are a great artist is to be solo. You really can’t stand out in a band if you are hot the other people get jealous (they don’t mean to it just happens that way). I wish you all the best and in your face puff!!
She definitely has a pretty voice and that right amount of “UMPH” that can translate to star quality. I wish this young woman all the best, and good for her for not going back to that hot mess label known as Bad Boy!

Surprisingly I like the song. She definitely has potential. And I’m glad she put her foot down and didn’t go back to Bad Boy. Shows how serious she is about making music, and not always wanting to be in front of a camera, all in the videos, all on the records (sorry, having a Suge Knight flashback). But anywho, good for her. I just hope the others follow her lead and make their own path, and not follow the one falsely made for you.
I like the song. It sounds like typical Danity Kane stuff though. It rides that line between R&B and Pop. That same line Rihanna rides.. I think she will pull the same fan base they had before with this song…

But what the music industry needs & what I am hoping for is a female version of Pretty Ricky (Juicy – okay not too raunchy), Jodeci (Feenin), or Trey songz (In the Middle) a female or group of females who can REALLY SANG and aren’t afraid to express their sexuality. Not bad, could be a little better as far as lyrics, the beat is hot though, but im not really ready for DK to be over yet, I am happy for her and I hope she does well solo but I just don’t think that DK is done yet, they did not wrap it up correctly, I really don’t think that they were ready to dismantle as a group at least not when they broke up.

The only season of MTB that I watched was 3. What I saw of DK, I knew D. Woods was the most talented and mature of the group. She’s definitely about her business and seemed to keep herself pretty removed from the drama of the group/show, which is why it totally surprised me when she was fired – but I suspect that was more because she refused to kiss Diddy’s butt like the rest of them.
I like the song, look forward to hearing more from her, and wish her well.

I honestly always thought D Woods, Dawn and Aundrea were the only ones with talent in the group because the other two were appalling. Shannon did nothing whatsoever and Aubrey acted like a hoe! Aubrey is the epitome of a talentless skank with no class and no morals, she’ll sleep with anyone to get to the top. I think she’ll end up as a playboy bunny because thats all she knows.
I really do hope Aundrea, Dawn and D.Woods make it on there own. Dawn had the best voice imo but she lacks self-confidence, I think she’ll end up a successful songwriter writing hits for famous artists but not being an artist herself, which is a great route to go since thats where the money is at. I think Dwoods has a potential fanbase, and I think a lot of young girls will relate to her and her music.
you know what has crossed my mind that I’m not sure if it has come to mind for anyone, but why is there more promotion around the DK split than Day26 && Donnie?? If Aubrey && D.Woods are really kicked out why is Diddy marketing a group break up and commercials saying that “Will they make up” like it’s some damn soap opera, and why is there continuous promotion on the DK myspace page?? I’m well aware they more than likely don’t run it but if there going thru, why is promotion even coming off of that page??? shouldn’t it be on the D.L. for awhile until they get shit together??

D. Woods has always been one of my favorties in the DK. I love the way she handled herself in the break-up/finale episode of Making the Band. She handled herself with alot of class, she simply asked if he (Diddy) was sure he wanted to kicked her out, she politely got her sh*t and left, and haven’t looked back since!! Get it D. Woods, do your thang! I wish you much sucess!
