Director Rachid Bouchareb, is setting up a movie on the early life of legendary civil rights activist Angela Davis (read about her life) and in a recent interview with THR, he said he wants Beyonce to play the leading role:
“I want Beyonce Knowles to play Angela Davis,” he said. “It’s a great dramatic role for her.” [SOURCE]
Bouchareb, who will produce the movie through his French production company, plans to shoot in summer 2010 with a budget in the region of $20 – $30 million.

i live in Brooklyn and there are TOO TOO TOOOOO MANY young black actresses who have dedicated their lives to the craft that will never get a role because of popular non actors like beyonce. it’s just not fair. parts for female actors are already little to none to be giving all the roles to beyonce, who is a singer…not an actor. i mean, anybody can act, but not everyone can act WELL.

I think that Beyonce would do a very good job. Even though her title isn’t “Actress” she acts very well. I would see it. My kids love the Pink Panther, I however can’t stay awake past the opening. A lot of movies flop because they don’t put new actors in their movies give the new up coming black actress a chance. The reason Cadilac Records flop because ppl knew what to expect on her acting. I like to see movies with new actors in them I get tired of seeing the same ppl in movies because I know what to expect that’s why I watch a lot of horror movies it and by pass movies with actors and actress that are famous because you know what to expect start fresh and new. Beyonce is not a good actress and people see her everyday in news or public doing something her singing is good but acting no not good at all. Why was all that money in getting her to play this when you can get a fresh face good black actress.

Is the director high or something?!? To play someone as important to Black history as Angela Davis, the director should be auditioning THOUSANDS of actresses in order to find the actress who can BEST play her. It shouldn’t just be handed over to Beyonce. She should be auditioning the Angela Bassett’s, the Taraji Henson’s, the Kimberly Elise’s and all the other great talent that’s out there.
