VIDEO: THE DREAM – “ROCKIN’ THAT THANG”

Singer/songwriter, The Dream finally drops the first video from his sophomore album, Love vs. Money. The clip was directed by Ray Kay, who has been responsible for some of the beautiful imagery from a lot of videos over the past few years.

Shot in Los Angeles, the video isn’t really all that interesting, but is a visual treat. Originally thought to have a cameo from Christina Milian, “Rockin’ That Thang” only includes appearances from The Dream’s girl group, Electrik Red.

ROUNDUP: FANTASIA GOING BACK TO SCHOOL / KANYE SPEAKS ON C.B. INCIDENT / SNOOP DOGG HOSTS VARIETY TALK SHOW

Grammy nominated singer Fantasia Barrino is ready to go back to school and earn her high school degree, after dropping out about a decade ago in the ninth grade.

“I’ve been talking about it for so long. I have a lot of young people who look up to me, like my 15-year-old brother and 7-year-old daughter. It’s something that I really need to do and that I want to do.”

Fantasia said that she realized the need to be educated after she faced the possibility of one of her homes being foreclosed and put up for auction.

“I had to sit back for a while and had to get some things settled..I had to handle my own business as this was not just about me but my whole family.”

Fantasia is hoping to release her third album later this year and is also in talks to star in a reality show about her own life.

Kanye West spoke to Ryan Seacrest Tuesday morning (February 10) during a radio interview and expressed his devastation about the Rihanna and Chris Brown incident:

“She has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time and, in that sense, I feel like that’s my baby sis and I would do any and everything to help her in any situation. I don’t want to speak more into the specifics with that situation, but all I’ll say is it’s just so devastating.

I feel like, just as a person, I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s, that should never happen. It should never come to that place.”

Kanye and Rihanna got close during the course of his sold-out ‘Glow and The Dark’ tour last year. Continue

ALBUM REVIEW: RYAN LESLIE’S SELF-TITLED RELEASE

ryanleslie.jpg

It seems like forever since we first heard Ryan Leslie on “Diamond Girl” then became mildly interested in his relationship with Cassie. Finally after many push backs, his self-titled debut has been released. His first single wasn’t a smash hit but it seemed that the Harvard grad could only excel from there. Unfortunately, the ride is more of a one-note coast rather than any unexpected twists and turns.

LISTEN UP

Leslie wafts in and out of his infatuation for this woman or the next from the neatly wrapped club bangers like “Addiction” to the adult contemporary drum-beats in “Quicksand.”

Honestly, I can’t help but wonder what is it about women that he is so in love with that makes him want to whisper but never actually shout.
