Great speech. He spoke with a strong voice and seemed quite confident. Loved the speech, but I’m more interested in the results. We’ll see if he can pull this off. It’s going to be hard but he’s got a great team behind him … and a fantastic wife. I love Michelle!

A very good speech indeed. You can surely tell that his heart is focused on the middle-class citizens rightnow. I also like that he continues to remind EVERYONE that this process will not change overnight and it will “slowly” improve. Honestly, I can’t stand that the republicans are just sitting there waiting to find something (even so little) to call him a failure. smh

One of my FAVORITE parts was him bringing the banks to everyone’s attention by notifying everyone that there will be no more personal jets and CEO bonuses (that was funny). A HUGE BROWNIE POINT was letting the banks know that they will be CLOSELY monitered at all times (LUV IT)!!!! I also like that he provides a recovery site so that everyone can view where the funds are going.

I really commend him on his honesty and support that he gives to an average family household.

Way to go Barack!!! : o )

I actually stood up and clapped when Obama told America’s parents to turn off the television and to read their children a book. Best thing he’s said so far during his presidency.

The only thing I can say to the Louisiana Governor is: Bobby Jindal you are not my (destiny) “Jai Ho!” (Think: Slumdog Millionaire) …

I loved Michelle’s outfit, though I think the sleeveless aspect was a bit much for addressing Congress especially at the dead end of February. She was rocking it though. I guess she wants to show those toned arms at every opportunity.

11.

I AM WHO I AM

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 /

I have to begin by saying that I love the way Michelle Obama dresses..I absolutely love her syle of fashion…I love that she has her own style and rocks it!!!..but there’s a time and occasion for sleeveless and tonight was not it. As first lady, her choice of sleeveless was not appropriate for Capitol Hill…there was not another woman there sleeveless…and I know she does not model herself after anyone else, and I love that about her..but she is the First Lady and had distinguished guest in her box, yet she looked as if she was going to a very informal affair…HIllary Clinton, Dr. Jill Biden, and almost every other woman there were more suited for the occasion than our First Lady. Yes, she has incredible arms, but tonight was not the time to showcase them…we’re not asking for “frumpy”…just dress the occasion…Pres. Obama didn’t wear a white turtle neck with his black suit (which we know wouldve looked good)…she is not only the First Lady, but she represents her husband the President of the United States. I think its been too much hype about her arms and perhaps thats the determining factor when she selects sleeveless. I read that it was her choice to go sleeveless for the cover of Vogue…when her cover for Ebony was much more suitabl

LOL @ 8 Nick…. I watched jindal speak in the begining but ended up dozing off on it cause I knew he wasn’t speaking to me” actually I don’t know who he was speaking to because everybody on CNN and MSNBC talking bout Obama’s speach this morning.Besides who would want to follow up President Obama after that rousing speech he gave. So to have boring jindal follow up with that sesame street speech was quite funny LOL.

@ # 18 I totally agree. What was the point writing a damn novel about Michelle wearing a sleeveless dress? LMAO

Anyway I think the speech was great and I feel very confident in my President and his administration. My favorite part of the speech was he address the big banks and making sure that they use funds for the people not for a jet or a lavish party.

The President’s address was a very good speech last night. He stated the direction he wanted to take the country in the next couple of years and he was also optimistic. President Obama commanded the audience last night in a great way. It feltt as if he were President for years and not just a month and a half. I can tell he is really going to try his best as President of the USA.

Then on the other hand….Gov. Jindal’s speech was ok if he were talking to third graders or something. It was kind of lame how he tried to compare himself to President Obama…I was like oh no he didn’t. If he’s supposed to be the savior of the Republican party, boy are they in trouble!

Good speech! He is really digging it in to the CEO’s..lol.. I think they got it now. New fresh ideas coming from Obama and Repub’s are scared of change. All of a sudden they had such great ideas about the economy when they sat in those same seats and saw the mess coming just like Bush. I loved how O gave the stim package a face like look these are the people you have neglected for generations time to get your butts of the private jets and hit the streets as politicians are supposed to do for the people!

Anywho, they could have saved all the applause and up/down until the end. He isn’t campaigning anymore let the man speak! lol.. At one point Pelosi clapped before he finished his sentence! Dems in Congress are happy so I guess they can have their moment…lol..

30.

DIVA 3.0

Great speech by Obama! I’m pulling for him to make these ideas come to fruition. As for the republican’s and their bull headed attempt at “getting in touch” with America by putting Bobby Jindal on a pedestal, this statement I found on a political blog says exactly what these idiots are really focused on: “The New Republican Party Slogan: “See?!? We got us a young, uppity colored feller, too!!!” ……I wish these fools, would just step back and really look at the issues at hand, and take the time to really try and create solutions and be apart of those solutions instead of trying to undermine EVERYTHING Pres. Obama says and does. And I am sooooo annoyed that that old fogey John Mccain always has to put his lame unrealistic two cents in whenever he disagrees with Obama on anything, as if to say the American people should have voted for him instead because Obama is not as “experienced” as he is to be president. Well here’s my two cents to him, go kick rocks and get over it!

If Jindal ever becomes President,America is done.People from India like Jindal hate blacks, even though Jindal himself is black,Indians come from Ethiopians,it was Ethiopians who founded and discovered India. That`s who the Indians got their hair from.Today, though most Indians have been brainwashed to think that they are not black and to hate black people. But the blackest people on earth are people from India, they have more black blood in them than African-Americans!

Just a bit of advice #36, NO ONE LIKES TO READ THINGS IN ALL CAPS. If anything, it will do the opposite of your intended effect and make people skip your post all together.

Why do you feel the need to do that?

I wish people would just let Obama do what he intends to do and complain later. Only complaining if it doesn’t work out. I mean, what could Obama do worse that hasn’t already been thought of or done by Bush? I think that Obama is here to legitimatly help those that are helping themselves. (People who work hard and want to own their own, spending every dime to do better) I work hard, I’m not trying to keep up with the Jone’s but I want to live in the community with the Perterson’s. Yes it was creepy, I mean what in the word was he talking about anyway? We were listening and we were like Y does he keep bringing up Katrina? It had nothing to do with what was just said. It sounded like he was trying to earn points.

Anyway It was a great speech Im glad he made it clear that he did not make the mess but he was here to clean it up. I mean honestly the CONS have been acting like children. You help put your country in this position but wont lift a finger to move forward. With all the criticism have not offered any plan. Which brings me back to Jindal, Lowering taxes will not create jobs….

obama won cause the people in power let him win for obvious reasons they control everything dont be fooled.
if they wanted mccain to win he would have won

be prepared dont be a sheep things are going to get much worse not better,

44.

MONRAEA

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 /

@YOMAMA

Well, they didn’t waste time to let him lead and keep the lead. If it had something to do with people with power, I don’t think they were the only factor. I’m from Washington State and have never seen so many lawn advertisements for voting for Obama. A lot of people really did vote for him. Out of 20 people you know how many voted for Obama? If you can honestly say none voted then they were the only ones that voted for McCain. But the future lies ahead and will tell who exactly were fooled. Keep your fingers crossed and click your heals 3 times.

Speeches are no more than just words and no action….blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!

… ‘I have a dream’-just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’-just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words? Lol, I’ve listened to too many Obama speeches!

Anyway, speeches are more than just words. During the Great Depression when the U.S. economy had sunk to its lowest point, over 13 million Americans were unemployed, businesses suffered a $6 billion lost, people lost their savings, their homes and farms. Then some guy named Franklin D Roosevelt came along. He addressed the issues of the depression to the country and promised a ‘new deal’, which won him the Democratic Presidential nomination. Then President. In his first inaugural speech, Roosevelt tried to calm the fear of Americans, “let me assert my belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. Does this story sound familiar?

My point is, whether the President does what he preached about or not, his speeches are very necessary in a time of crisis. Speeches are needed to uplift the country and regain faith in the federal government. If the President doesn’t soothe us, then everyone will continue to panic. Further more, Roosevelt gave speeches, Martin Luther King Jr. gave speeches, and Abraham Lincoln gave speeches, all of them did. But didn’t Roosevelt help the country recover from the Depression? Did MLK Jr. not help us get to where we’re no longer segregated? Are we not still a United States of America (Civil War)? And I don’t recall any of this shit happening overnight either.

…So, ‘I have a dream’-just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’-just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words?

If you read this, thanks for baring with my long post!

Seeing the Obama’s makes me feel so happy inside and out, they just have that charisma(might spelled that wrong) together. President Obama is always smiling and so is Michele, they’re genuine smiles, not phony. If black folks would have came together a long time ago, we would have had a black president by now. Not meaning no bshit Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton. Only time those 2 clowns come out is when they see $ signs. Black man know how to put his foot down, lmao and that’s exactly what our President is doing!!!! Thank you for helping me, us, all of America Mr.President, we needed someone like you and God knew exactly who to put in that seat.

FIrst, President Obama’s speech was great. Even though I feel that President Obama has yet to show “real change” in Washington, and am willing to give him a chance to do so. He said things that I do think needed to be said.

But on another topic is it just me or did Joe Biden look like he had enough of the standing and clapping at the end of every line (it seems). He gave Nanci Pelosi that
b!%@H if you get up one more time look! LMAO!!!

clears throat….that was a great speech though!

Great speech!

OK, now the gossip. Michelle Obama looks great and some people are going to complain about her appearance no matter what she does. I mean, the day after the election I was talking with my mom and she was all “I didn’t like her dress and her hair was fine but did you see her hair two days ago, why doesn’t she cut her hair like Condoleeza or have a nice short Afro?” I mean, complaining about how her hair looked days earlier than the event?! I was all “Mom, picking on other people’s looks doesn’t make me feel better about my own, I already told you that!” Though if Mrs. Obama does opt for an Afro later I bet she’d look great with that too.

“Hey #21 LALA from Europe, I guess I would be sick of hearing about another country’s president if the country’s issues did not concern me either. Once I went to Australia and you would not believe how much the Australian media outlets (even before the internet was big!) covered America. Maybe European newspapers and TV do the same? http://news.bbc.co.uk/ ’s international news portal covers the world kinda evenly, but it still has a lot on America!

“Seeing the Obama’s makes me feel so happy inside and out, they just have that charisma(might spelled that wrong) together.”

You spelled it right :)

Thank you Anonymous! Look doubters (Pete and Yomama), Pres. Obama has only been in office for 2, count ‘em, 2 months. Give him a break! We didn’t get into this mess in only 2 months, so it’s gonna take more than 2 months to get out of this mess. Who wants a leader who’s all doom and gloom? We want someone who is going to tell it to us straight: it’s bad now, and will probably get even worse, but we will get out of this. We want a leader who aspires us to do great things and who is intelligent and surrounds himself with people who will get the job done, because he can’t do it alone. I swear, some people just feed off negativity.

As for Lala, get a life and since our President bothers you so much, focus on your own leader, who ever that may be.
