POLITICS: THE OBAMAS DAY OUT / KILPATRICK RELEASED & LEAVES DETROIT / PRES. SAYS HE ‘MESSED UP’

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama visited Capital City Public Charter School on Tuesday and read The Moon Over Star to the second grade class during their visit (view video here).

The President told the kids that he and the First Lady were tired of being in the White House so they made a surprise trip to the school.

The stop at the school underscored a promise that the Obamas made and insist they will keep: to avoid getting caught up in a White House bubble. They say they will be visible parts of the Washington community – even in the midst of a hectic day. Or a difficult one…

KILPATRICK RELEASED & LEAVES DETROIT

After being released from serving 99 days in jail for his text message scandal, Kwame Kilpatrick left Detroit on a privately chartered jet Tuesday headed for Southlake, an affluent Texas community.

His family has been living in a 2,800-square-foot rental home in the suburb of Ft. Worth since December. Bryson Sinor, a neighbor in “the most affluent neighborhood in the country” said Carlita Kilpatrick is “delightful, and the boys are nice”. He added, “I haven’t met the husband yet.”

According to reports, Kilpatrick is interviewing for a job, but no one seems to be sure where. The court has agreed to let him spend five days in Texas in pursuit of a job opportunity but unless the court also allows him to transfer his probation to Texas, Kilpatrick may be back in Michigan.

PRES. SAYS HE MESSED UP

Following Tom Daschle’s nomination withdrawal as secretary of Health and Human Services yesterday, President Barack Obama told network anchors that he takes responsibility for the problem.

He tells CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he made a mistake and that he doesn’t want “to send a message to the American people that there are two sets of standards: one for powerful people and one for ordinary folks who are working everyday and paying their taxes”.

So Kwame got money like that?? to be flying in chartered jets and living in “the most affluent” community in the country? They didn’t make this n*$#@ pay a fine for all the mess he got in? I heard his jumpoff got a fine!!

That’s right Obama.. There shoudl not be two sets of standards. Thank you for being our leader, because a GOOD leader admits when he had made a mistake and works quickly to correct it. You still the man in MY BOOK! Go new America!

Yes indeed. President Obama did screw up. Obviously he did no kind of background check on Tom Daschle. If you apply for an administrative job to be in the President’s cabinet I think you should be treated just like anyone else as far as doing credit and criminal checks. It’s a question of ethics and morality. Politicians should not be immune to this. The only good thing to come out of this is that President Obama did admit he made a mistake.

I also heard Kwame Kilpatrick was flying out to Texas for a job interview.

I’m not trying to turn this into a Beyonce thread but since were talking about President Obama and this somehow links him to the situation, I heard the audio of Etta James’s diss about Bey singing her song at the inaguration and all I have to say is WOW! This woman holds nothing back.

You know what is so funny? The right wing pundits are already claiming the Obama’s administration is a failure; when these people who were exposed for not paying their taxes, weren’t even on his administration. Richardson, Daschle et al were not confirmed so they were not part of the Obama administration. Drowning men clutch at straw, I guess.

If anything, it goes to show the unprecedented ethical standards the Obama administration upholds because once the scandals broke they all “withdrew” their nominations. I put withdrew in quotes because I guarantee you “No Drama Obama” told those scumbags he can’t use them…lol

Days of an administration of crooks and abusive power are gone. So refreshing….

It’s nice to see the Obama’s getting out and talking to the kids. I think they should make children their main focus. Especially since their girls are so young.

KILPATRICK____RUINED HIS CAREER FOR SOME ASS

I’m glad President Obama can admit his mistakes instead of trying to insult the country’s intelligence like others in the past who care only about their selfish agendas.

Despite Kilpatric’s indiscretions he did a lot for the city of Detroit. To bad it had to end like this, but he served his time and deserves to be able to get on with his life as long as it’s in accordance to the law. Other people on probation are allowed to transfere it all the time and he shoudl be no exception. I’m sure he has money and saved I mean he does have a family.

I am getting tired of the Republicans screaming about spending and deficit. They are the ones that are responsible for the hugh mess that we are in. The budget has not been balanced in years, but suddenly they are so concern about spending.

People we need to let President Obama know that we are standing with him, and send a clear message to the Senate and those who are thinking just of themselves and not of the American people. People are losing their jobs left and right. This is not the time for bickering. It is the time to work for the American people.
