I find Janelle Monae ’s surname interesting and am curious as to her nationality. I am aware that the letter ” a ” in english has many sounds but as far as I know English spelling (American and British) does not employ accents ( ‘ ) over vowels and French and Spanish mostly use them over the letter “e”.
