Erykah Badu, 37 reported the birth of her baby girl via twitter on Sunday.
On Tuesday, she announced that her newborn’s name is Mars Merkaba, also via twitter.
This is her third child – first being with current boyfriend Jay Electronica:
“Erykah gave birth to a baby girl at her home on February 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.,” the rep tells Us [Weekly]. “The baby’s father, [rapper] Jay Electronica, and her two children were in attendance.”
Erykah and Electronica sent Twitter messages throughout their daughter’s birth..
“Morning, I’m in labor,” Badu announced to her 4,500 followers on Sunday.
The couple chose to deliver at her Brooklyn, New York home with the help of a midwife — who was apparently running late.
“Labor has begun,” Electronica wrote. “Everybody stand back. No hospitals. No doctors. No medicine. We’re waiting for the midwife to show.” (READ MORE/SOURCE)
Erykah has a 4-1/2-year-old daughter named Puma with rapper D.O.C and son Seven Sirius, 11, with Andre 3000.

And staying on the topic of baby news – Bobby Brown announced this week that he is expecting another bundle of joy with girlfriend Alicia Etheridge:
“I’m really excited about my new addition to my family,” says Brown, who plans to celebrate his 40th birthday, as well as his recent sobriety, with family and friends on Thursday in Los Angeles.
“We’re excited because he’s in a good place – he’s sober and he’s very happy,” adds Brown’s attorney, Phaedra Parks “And I’m happy for Alicia and Bobby as well.” SOURCE
This will be Bobby’s fifth child in addition to Bobbi Christina (with Whitney), and three other children with two ex’s.

Wow guys, she named her daughter Mars because she obviously liked it and maybe has a reason why it was chosen. Just because you may think that name is random and/or unnattractive does not mean she does also. I’m sure there are people in this world that you know today who wonder why your Mother and Father named YOU the way they did. We all have different ideas, likes and dislikes, and attractions. All that matters is her parents clearly agreed on it and like it for their daughter.
