These rock tracks from Lil’ Wayne are popping up all over the place! Although “Prom Queen” is the first single, I’m wondering whether or not these songs that have leaked will actually make the album or if Weezy is just leaking some songs from sessions to see how well the public reacts to them. I’m not immediately drawn to the vocal arrangement on the chorus of “Amazing Love,” but I see some potential in these songs. I just don’t understand why HE is recording them.

In addition to still working with Timbaland, it seems that Ginuwine has been dealing a lot with Bryan-Michael Cox on this new album. B. Cox has been laying low for the past few months, but it seems as though he’s getting Ginuwine some good vocal-appropriate material for his new album, A Man’s Thoughts, which is set to hit this spring. I really like the song, but something about the background vocals that’s killing me.

Keri Hilson finally releases the last remix version of the album, compiling all the artists that have gotten on the track. Originally just with Lil’ Wayne, they’ve taken the So So Def remix, as well as the remix wwith Busta and T.I. and just threw all the rappers on one. I’m assuming that this is the last remix that they will release. “Turnin’ Me On” has been getting some good success, already entering the Top 50 on the Billboard charts. In A Perfect World… drops on March 24th.

Ciara joins forces with Chris Brown again for the song “Turntables.” The song was produced by none other than Nate “Danjahandz” Hill, and is supposedly from Ciara’s new album, Fantasy Ride, which has been delayed on a couple different occasions. Right now, she’s on the promo trail with her new video for the current single, “Never Ever,” featuring fellow Atlanta native, Young Jeezy. Although I think the song would transcend well on radio, I’m not really too sold on it. It’s something about the mixing of it that throws me off, the levels in Chris Brown’s and Ciara’s vocals are just too different and unmatched to me. But then again, this may not be the final version. We’ll see!

The only thing I love about the Ciara track is Chris Brown’s vocals. He can really sing. Ciara sounds alright but I have heard her sing like this a thousand times. It wouldn’t be matter if Ciara was replaced with the common backup singer for this song.
I love Ginuwine’s song but it doesn’t sound finish because the backup singer (maybe Tank) over powers the chorus. I didn’t even hear Ginuwine lol.

I applaud Wayne for trying something new!! I think he and Kanye are pushing the stereotypical envelope placed on hip-hop artist. I think it speaks to their artistry.
