♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

♫ The Dream - Sweat It Out (full) - listen
I think that The Dream is absolutely hilarious. I mean, not in a bad way, it’s just that sometimes the way he approaches a song, or a concept, really makes me laugh. The title is pretty straight forward with “Sweat It Out.” The Dream boasts about how he will sweat his lover’s hair out while making love. He even tells the girl to call her beautician in the song. The Dream’s new album, Love vs. Money is set to hit shelves and online March 10th.
♫ Trey Songz - Brand New (full) - listen
This new cut, “Brand New” is supposedly the “street single” for his new album that he’s been working on in Atlanta for quite some time. I usually like Trey, but there’s something very R. Kelly-ish about his vocal and delivery on this song, especially on the verses. I can see his fans getting into this song, and it will probably hit hard and heavy in the clubs. I’m looking for something great from Songz this time around, considering that his last two albums got lots of spins from me.
♫ Jennifer Lopez - Hooked On You (full) - listen
Check out the new single from Jennifer Lopez’s greatest hits album, which is due out sometime this spring. “Hooked On You” is produced by none other than Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and is slightly reminiscent of some of the tracks on her last album, Brave, which was a critical flop. I do like this new track, though. Jennifer Lopez has always been great for giving us a good dance track. The greatest hits album is supposed to contain 5 new track.
♫ Melanie Fiona - It Kills Me (full) - listen
We recently did a Hot or Not feature on this young lady, for her first single, “Give It To Me Right.” It seems as though more material is leaking from the young lady. Honestly, I like “It Kills Me” more than I dug the first single. This song really reminds me of some ’90’s stuff, vocally. Even though there’s too different about her voice, she’s got a powerful sound. Her debut album, The Bridge is still set to drop sometime this spring. No official word on the release date.

This song was NOT produced by Rodney Jerkins. IT WAS PRODUCED BY DROP ZONE AND WRITTEN BY A PLUS. These are the same people who did “I’m On” for Ciara’s upcoming project, Fantasy Ride.

THE DREAM- this song is good but i mean is sex all this man knows? his songs have no substance at all. yea i could jam to them but does he know anything else but freaking in the sheets? besides that mama song which his mama or label probably forced him to do its all sex sex sex… there are other things to sing about.. i mean what about love?
TREY SONGZ- i agree brian its sounds like r.kelly and i dont think it will be in the clubs where im at..he needs to go back to those “just gotta make it tunes” thats what he was good at
J-LO- sounds like something danity kane left off one of their albums.. j.lo needs to quit this music stuff and acting stuff.. she should just focus on her kids
MELANIE FIONA- she is actually really good.. reminds me of swv etc.. but i dont ppl will give her a chance… she probably stay underground but i hope ppl give her a real chance, radios give her spins, and her album gets pushed right

the dream- this song is hilarious. the thing about the dream is that he is such a hood ass singer. he was singing about some girl who seems like she is or once was good and hood. i dl-ed the song though.
trey songz- not a fan of the artist.
j.lo- whoopdy freaking surprise! i totally just choregraphed something to this song in my head.
melanie fiona- it’s is uber duber 90s reminiscent, but i liked “give it to me” better.

I love Trey - he is so Talented - he is so underated. I was just lsitening to him yesterday on you tube - his remixes are the best - he writes his own lyrics. He obviously better than half of the artists on billboard nowdays, with autoune or what not.
His vocal are crazy, i think in time he will be smahing one his well know! His well sexy too

Brand New woulda be hott without Kellz swagg and vocals in the background.
Reminds me of that Marques Houston Song “Up in the Da Club.”
Trey could’ve carried this song on his own, I love his voice.
I bet Kellz wrote this!

The Dream - Unlike many others, I haven’t been bought over by this guy. And after listening to about thirty seconds of this song, I didn’t even bother. For some reason he’s so mediocre to me.
Trey Songz - After listening to the song, I totally saw the parallels about Trey sounding like R. Kelly. Besides that fact, I really dig this song, and enjoy the work he brings out.
Jennifer Lopez - Surprisingly, I really like this song, and have listened to it a couple of times along with the Trey Songz track. I like how the song was produced, and can see this in the clubs (although I’m only 18 and won’t be going to any of those clubs lol). But when she referenced the hood, I was like “what hood are you talking about?” You haven’t been there in a long while, but it’s whatev. It’s still a good song.
Melanie Fiona - As others have stated, it is very reminiscent of the 90s, and the more soulful electic r&b that has seemed to almost disappear in this century. But she didn’t immediately grab my attention with this song, so she and it would have to grow on me.

Thanks Brian! I love Melanie but haven’t been on her myspace in a while so to see her I got excited! I knew in the first seconds that I was gone love this song. IDK, on Give it to me right I thought Kelis with more vocal range, on this I hear Deborah Cox and Kelis but what I’m realizing is that this girl is holding her own! straight up good ole’ RnB, Love it!
Jennifer love you but stop it.
Dream typical, not a big fan but this one is cool I see myself dancing in my mirror to this, maybe cause he jocked one of my cities own, Kells of course.
Trey, big fan but typical as well, not bad at all but still typical.

Trey- Its a hot joint, nuff said!
J.Lo- A Media Legend,Fashion Icon and the Queen of entertainment, and it is about time we finally hear that ‘Jenny From the Block’ and this track is definitly blazing . She came hard wit this one.
Melanie F- its a throwback type feel, i enjoyed and she got a sexy voice, she on her grown woman voice real talk.

The only chick i’m feeling here is Melanie F- Listening to her song reminded so much of how RandB used to be like. She impressed me with her vocal ability although i’d like to hear more tracks from her. She seemed to hold a good note, which i don’t quite find in today’s R~B/Pop singers. Singers like Rihann, Keyshia Cole, Kerry Hilson, are one of the few singers i do not understand how they even got into this music business. If you go to middle east, entertainers there can sing and you will be impress while feeling sorry for American entertainers. Middle east artists are one of the most talented people in the whole wide world. They don’t need to prerecord a track to sing live, they do everything live. One thing i find fascinating is that they have huge band when they do live performance or going on a tour unlike Americans who actually prerecord tracks and then lyp synch like it’s a live show or something and their band are not that big anyway. So, im concluding this by saying that U.S R~B/ singers better be careful of what they do. Cuz other countries are taking well advantage of their singing ability while U.S singers are good at showing their bodies in a video instead of their vocal and liver performance potential. Let’s stay awake and hit that note like we used to.

Melanie Fiona_ she can sing, is very reminiscent of the 90s when people could sing back then, very soulful
Jennifer Lopez_ I’m tired of her, did not even bother listening to her.
Trey Songz_ First off, he could get, I haven’t heard him in a while, he has a good voice but I’m tired of everybody singing about the same thing, girls in the club, this is a good song, has a nice beat to it. What has he been up to?
The Dream_ He always has good music, whenever he is on a track it’s hot like Weezy. This kind of sounds like an Avant other song, but I’m lovin’ now, Walkin on the Moon feat. Kanye West

Dream-really out of the his track and trey’s, Dream sounded more R-kellyish. But it was still an ok song, I can see myself probably jamming this.
Trey-Absolutely love the track. The song and production hit hard on this one and even tho it’s just a street single I really hope he does a video for this one. Kudos Trey!
JLO-It’s an ok lil dance track. Might need to grow on me a lil more
Melanie Fiona-This was my first time ever hearing of her and her music. I hate to compare but my first thought was she sounds A LOT like Monica (not a bad thing) but I can still hear the difference and there is no doubt she can sang! And the song itself is really nice, I’m feelin her lyrics and style on this. I’ll have to search for some moe track from her. Definately an artist I will be looking out for. I like all the songs except J Lo’s.
The Dream-I’m still not caught up in the hype about him, but I give him props when they’re due, the song is cool and it’ll be a hit for sure if he decides to make this a single.
Trey-This song is hot! I’ve noticed he puts out a lot of good buzz material.
Jennifer- I don’t like this at all. She can usually make a banging dance song, but not this time. I am kinda glad she’s getting back out here on the scene. I’m just in the mood for new and familair faces instead of the same old, same old.
Melanie-Finally someone trying to capture the esscence of 90s R&B the right way ,which is a sound that many of us miss! This is tight, it sounds like a album cut from an old Monica, Xscape, or Deborah Cox album. It sounds like a record Keyshia would do also. CL, keep us updated about this artist.
@Jscene- I agree 100%-Satellite radio is the best and internet radio too. Definitely the best cure from some of the mainstream trash.
