The following statement was issued by a spokesman on behalf of Chris Brown on Sunday (February 15):
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.” [source]
As reported, Chris was charged with one count felony criminal threats (more charges could be added after the DA is finished reviewing the case) and is expected to attend court on March 5th in Los Angeles. The 19 year-old has hired popular defense attorney, Mark Geragos to represent him.

Ummm so he did do something to that girl. I’m disappointed and i’m sure his mom must be FUMING that her son is continuing these patterns. Its good that he’s getting help though, he should’ave gotten counseling a long time ago though. Kids that grow up in an abusive household need counseling for it and it was obvious it was something he struggled with b/c of the ways he talked about it in interviews. Wanting to kill his father and having HATE in his heart? Something wasnt right.
That said, I hope she gets help too. She also came from a dysfunctional household and she said she got really bad headaches b/c her parents always fought. She said they thought she had a tumor in her head b/c of the extent of her headaches…

Although I am a huge Rihanna fan (LOVE HER!), I feel sorry for Chris. I am dissapointed that he resorted to such violence. Being young has nothing to do with beating on a woman. He obviously has emotional scars from the events that took place in his past. Rihanna is only about 5’8, 130lbs tops,and Chris is 6’1, damn near 200lbs. She couldn’t have hurt him that bad to make him inflict bruises upon her. But I will keep him in prayer. This goes to show that celebrities are human too.

When some of my students asked me for an opinion, I simply stated, “There is no excuse for bad behavior. Brown was wrong, and its unfortunate that female listeners will continue to support him.” Because there is a breakdown of the family structure, many young women do not understand how a good man behaves. Having money, and being good looking does not make a person decent. If you have a positive male role model in your lives, you will know what a positive man looks like and what he should behave as. I was also saddened that when the news first broke that many people asked, “What did she do to him?” Hey, there is never an excuse for a man hitting a woman unless she was trying to kill him. According to the person who reported the incident to the police that definitely was not the case.
