After almost two weeks of hiding from the public, Rihanna was spotted in Los Angeles heading to an airport on Thursday – the same day a photo of her with bruises on her face released to the public.
The singer finally released a statement to fans on Friday (her 21st birthday) via her spokesperson:
At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown. She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time.

I feel so sorry for Rihanna. Not only because I’m a huge fan of hers. But I feel sorry for her as a woman to have to go thru something like this at such a young age or at all. My condolences go out to her and to the people who love and care about her. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy and I would be in jail if anything like this were to happen to my sisters, cousins, best friend or whoever. No one deserves this.
Obviously, there are a lot of young people on this site who fail to understand the effects of domestic violence. This is a real problem in our community and is constantly filtered in the culture, ie music, movies etc. Domestic violence can happen to ANYONE and is often unplanned and unprovoked. Cowards usually engage in sneak attacks on victims who are ill prepared to defend themselves. This is going to be a long process for Rhianna, invading her privacy and injecting our opinions is useless and frankly none of our business. Things are always more complicated than they seem especially matters of the heart. I am a strong, educated, talented woman but I was a victim of a sneak attack by a deranged ex who tried to destroy my life and career. I survived and so can you Rhianna. Let the naysayers hate. You NEVER know, it could be you someday. Jealousy and envy between men and women must end!
I’m starting to think this relationship really wasn’t real to begin with..but actually was a ploy to build Rihanna and especially Chris’ career.
Notice how the couple started coming out publically last year almost to the day of the attack, right around the Grammys and Clive Davis’ party??? HMMMMM.
If their relationship was a ploy, agreed in advance that it would run for one year, it worked too well–they made too good a couple! Far from hating, the public actually loved them and expected them to stay together and maybe even get married someday!! I’m sure they slept together and maybe even fell “in love.” They were so perfect together!
But Chris is ONLY 19. Too young, much too young for such a heavy commitment for such a young, rich, famous, and good looking young man, who has honeys all over the world literally hangin from his dcik!
He wanted to end the relationship, as per the terms of the original agreement, but Rihanna didn’t. As the end of the agreement neared, she started to pressure him, he tried to hold her to the plan because she “knew it wasn’t a relationship” and it was over as agreed! But Rihanna wasn’t trying to hear that, because they were so great together and were so “in love….”
We know how guys get when girls try to turn a FB relationship into a real one, right? It doesn’t work!! How you started up is how you gotta end up in a situation like that.
If Rihanna was older and wiser, she would have let Chris go, started dating other people, and let him come back to her on his own when he was ready. Oh, she’d have to close her legs (to Chris) also:)
Due to the extraordinary pressures of this fake situation, feeling trapped and enraged Chris lost his patience and temper and blew!!
The rest is history.
This is just my .02 — any thoughts??
Get well Rihanna, you didn’t deserve this. Can’t wait to see you back out there lil mama.
Chris get it together and make the amends needed to salvage your career. You’re too talented to let it all go down the drain like this.
“She looks like she is crying behind those glasses. She made her own bed and she should lie in it. She has been living that high life, singing about how she never buys anything on sale, everything designer and that shit. Hey, it comes with the territory. I have no sympathy. None.”
**********************************************************
It is just her image. It is for “entertainment” purposes. Just because she’s rich doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve our sympathy. You are right about one thing-you are cold as ice.
“Im sooooooooooooo tiered of this she doesnt represent anything but a girl who had a fight with her man we should be focussing on people who suffer domestic violence on a day to day basis… some people are in these relationships for years!!”
******************************************************************
The problem is it doesn’t look like she got a chance to fight back, so it wasn’t a fair fight. The good thing is these people who you say we should be focusing on indirectly are being helped by Rhianna’s situation. They don’t have to feel isolated. If this could happen to her it could happen to anyone.
“What im saying is its hard to really judge because i think she is confused.”
*******************************************************
I agree she does seem to be confused, but I think it’s mostly because she may still have feelings for Chris. It must be hard. You don’t just stop loving someone-even if that someone beat you up.
“Rihanna dosen`t even mention the leaked photo nor does she threaten to sue TMZ.,that`s because the leaked photo does not violate her privacy”
********************************************************
That is her lawyer’s job.
“But they fought in public, out in the open for bystanders to see and take photos, and she freely allowed certain people to take photos.Anything that takes place in public becomes part of the public domain.GOD BLESS YOU RIHANNA!and get well soon.”
**********************************************************
These photos weren’t taken in public. These photos were taken by the police. Big difference.
“It’s sad that Rihanna, who probably was learning this due to all of her exposure to the predatory men of color in the music business, and now sees that the majority of support for her is occurring outside the black community.
And people wonder why Tina Turner turned her back on black folks and never looked back.
Ike Turner is a hero in the black community and folks laugh off his abuse with jokes. The same will happen for Chris Brown. His career is FAR from over in the world of BET and Vibe magazine.”

BRAVO!!!
“Where were their parents, like a lot of people gave Beyonce’s mother and father crap about being in her life and stirring her career. But when your young and in a relationship with a much older man, them being there helped out a lot. This is what happens when you don’t have guidance, and thinking your grown.”
*****************************************************************
No doubt Beyonce’s parents care about her, but they are also in the business. They are about making that dough. Mathew let her education slide so she could be a big star. I’d hate to think what would have happened to Beyonce with her limited education had it not worked out. Furthermore, Beyonce’s parents were very close to being divorced because Mathew is a cheating, coke snorting dog. Also, I truly believe her parents didn’t want her with JAY-Z, but what can you do? Beyonce thought she was grown. Let’s just wait to see how that pans out before making her the poster girl.
