I like Keyshia’s shoes with the dress although I would so rock Katy’s shoes. Hey Jameslyn–please do talk with your daughter! 8 years old is not too young, trust! I have worked in schools from pre-k to high school and your heart would leap out of your CHEST if u knew what some of these kids are doing!!

Keyshia looks so cute and the dress looks cute on her…but at first glance I thought someone used like a pink marker on this dress and scratched out the middle with zigzag lines.

I like the way Katy is wearing hers. I like Keisha, but she’s doing what most black women have a REAL BAD habit of doing….thinking you have to MATCH everything by the color (i.e. the dreadful, white-shirt-with-red-belt-at-the-waist-and-red-shoes-and-red-bracelets-and-red-earrings-and-necklace-and-red-pumps-and-red-handbag-with a pair of jeans. Everytime I see this chick, I wanna kick her down a flight of stairs at the mall), and that’s not how you make a fashion-statement. It’s about an entire streamline look and Katy nails it here.

Lis #13–Have to disagree–I don’t think Keysha is being “matchy-matchy” at all and I HATE matchy-matchy! I had a girlfriend in college who would match from her earrings to her shoes and looked straight BAMA everytime! lol! I also don’t like when women feel they have to play it safe by sticking with black shoes for eeeeeervything! That looks just as country in my opinion.

@23, yeah I hear you. But I’m a stylist and I’ve observed most people’s (especially women of color) fashion philosophy, and some sisters lack it for the most part. I believe it comes from when we were kids, in school, your “outfits” (that’s another thing, black women put together “outfits” while others do “looks” or “ensembles”) had to MATCH or that how you got teased by the other kids. Should you DARE go to an urban school wearing a yellow dress with maybe, cute pink shoes, you would’ve gotten teased, “Girl, that OUTFIT DON’T MATCH, LOL!”

If you look at Katy’s “LOOK”, she was going for streamline. I’ve also observed that most Caucasian women tend to use an “accent color” to make an outfit pop, or they will match their shoes with their haircolor or a hue similiar to force you to visually consider the entire look from head-to-toe. PLUS, like I said, Katy’s dress fits her better. Keyshia’s dress looks like someone dressed her up it. I love her shoes, but they are just too predictable for this look. IMO I love her hair too!

Honestly, I’m completely with YOU #21!!!! The Herve Ledger dress is OVUAH!!!! Max Azria needs to go back and focus on his BCBG line before everything ends up in TJ Max or Marshall’s. The quality has been slipping lately.
