After a lot of set backs, push backs and mishaps, Keri Hilson finally releases her debut album, In A Perfect World…, today, March 24th.
ConcreteLoop has had a close relationship with Keri since she began the first stages of her debut album, In A Perfect World… We were one of the first sites to feature her in an exclusive interview, and we even were the first blog to debut her break-out single, “Energy,” back in May last year. It’s been a long time coming, but after all the drama with leaks and label politics, Keri delivers a solid debut effort that was well worth the wait.
If you thought you didn’t know Keri in the beginning, you definitely knew her music. Penning tracks for some of the industry’s biggest heavyweights like the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and Omarion, Keri has never been a stranger to the game or the booth. She signed to Interscope via Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group as well as Polow Da Don’s Zone 4 imprint and began work with the two on an album which she describes as an effort that’s “emotive, human, gorgeously and deliberately imperfect.” And though it may be deliberately imperfect, it’s equally as impressive.
Keri recruited a team of some of the most high profile producers to helm the bulk of her album. The album boasts impressive gems from Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Danjahandz, Royal Court, as well as newcomer, Cory Bold on the eerie spaceship ride, “Alienated,” which fans had been dying to hear since reviews of Perfect World began to hit the net.
She also collaborates with some of the most talented writers in the game, tapping Justin Timberlake to share writing credits for the organically vintage and deliciously electronic “Slow Dance,” and her longtime colleagues from The Clutch on the infectious pop hit, “Return the Favor.” But she makes sure that she showcases her writing ability on songs she penned all by her lonesome, like “Intuition” and “How Does It Feel.”
Perfect World’s strongest point definitely lie in Hilson’s vocal performance. Keri uses very little effects through the album (save the single, “♫ TURNIN’ ME ON“) and there’s a rawness in her voice on stand-out tracks “Make Love,” “Tell Him the Truth,” and fan-favorite “Where Did He Go.”

Why would she come out with this album when almost the whole album has been leaked! My favorite song is “Slow Dance!” I love it sooooo much i been had that song since last summer. I’m not too crazy about this album its iight……….she can sing her ass off she needs more ballots that shows off her vocal ability. I’ll be copying this cd off of someone, no need to get it since its already been heard a long time ago.
The album is on point…I was a little skeptical of the material chosen at first (the album not her) but it’s a really solid project. also, her vibrato and ease of flippin into her false are whats gonna put her on the map

@12….Its funny, our opinions of this album are the complete opposite. I got it last night around 11:45, and hated it by 12:45. I gave it a listen to on the way to work, it got better, but it wasn’t worth the wait, she could have released this album 3 months ago…. Oh well, Im sure her fans will love it.
*P.S. “Where’d he go” is mad hott…… I love “Alienated”….but the album is just Blah IMO

I don’t think its worth buying, but DEFINITELY worth a quick download. I say that b/c I can tell i’ll be deleting some tracks from my playlist and won’t think twice about it nor miss them later.
I’ll be surprised if she pushes 50k her first week…..but my co worker jus told me that she thinks this album’s sell will top all of the other r&b chicks…….I jus laughed in her face….. This album will flop hard

Some of production was underwhelming consider is coming from two Super Producers Polow and Timbo… some of songs sounded like reject Promise tracks and other just ok electric-pop tracks. I guess she is just getting started. Well good luck on album sales.

Seriously, the ones of you that are comparing her vocal ability to vocally mediocre (if that even) pop/R&B stars are either jealous of Keri and/or tone deaf. Keri has a unique and lovely voice. She doesn’t try to over sing anything… sort of like Brandy. Brandy never over sings anything or tries to hit a note she can’t hit–same with Keri. It’s sad that many of you don’t know good music when you hear it.

I am not hating but I dont see what is so unique about Keri’s voice! Sure its adorable but its no imprint at all! u cant even recognize her if u dont know she is behind a song her voice is not unique at all to me! Same for Ciara or Janet or Britney! Not real uniqueness about them! But u can give some ppl rihanna, christina aguilera, beyoncé, kelis, erykah badu, mariah… voices not necessarily powerhouses but they can see the uniqueness and recognize quickly !

My friend got it, (if you’re reading this Alecia shoutout to you), anyway, she thought it was terrible. I listened to it also and it is not THAT bad, but definitely not good, at all. There’s only a few songs that are worth listening to twice. It was not good enough for all these “pushbacks”. I can’t say I’m disappointed because I for sure was not looking forward to it but I’m just happy as hell that I didn’t buy it. I don’t even think Limewire would be necessary. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
There is only TWO Cd’s that I actually liked from 2007/2008/ until now. And those are Lady Gaga – The Fame (I’m surprised I liked it) and Beyonce – I Am…Sasha Fierce (It is a really nice CD).
