Alicia Keys speaks at Dunbar High School on Thursday, March 19th in Washington, DC. The singer was joined by her mother, Terri Joseph and Gen. Ann Dunwoody commanding General of U.S. Army Material Command in a roundtable discussion with students in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Alicia also met up with First Lady Michelle Obama (who also spoke at a local D.C. High School) in the Diplomatic Room of the White House prior to the speaking event. Read more about the First Lady’s Women’s History Month round tables here.

Alicia always pushes education. I love that about her. I wish more of our entertainers would stop being products (just a bunch of commericals, and magazine covers) and actually push what matters. Yes, I do believe that it’s a parent’s job to instill education, but unfornately, we are in a generation where celebrities in a very indirect way are leading our chidlren (sad to report). Everyone is not going to get discovered for singing or dancing like some of our artists, but an education is something that can’t be taken away.
We must all worship the mixed light skin Queens… Bow down before them for they are the most beautiful.

Alicia Keys is quite fitting for this historic occasion. She is a humanitarian and has always been outspoken about issues affecting the black community. She identifies with her black roots, and so therefore understands the plight in the hood while Beyaki’s trifling new money attitude ass is busy bragging she grew up middle class as though that makes her better than others, when in actuality she did not grow up privy, they had to steal, cheat, and mistreat people to get ahead.
