AWARENESS: DAY 26 SPEAKS OUT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

(L-R) Brian, Q, Tequilla, Willie, Robert and Mike

On Monday March 30th, MTV ‘MAKING THE BAND’ members Day 26 has joined the popular “Saving Our Daughters” speaking series presented by It’s Cool To Be Smart. The group spoke to 11th and 12th graders at McNair high school in Atlanta, Georgia on issues that affect young women (i.e. domestic violence, teen abuse, & women empowerment).

The group came out and warned over 300 teen girls about the dangers of domestic violence and how to stay away from it. “They really took their time to explain just how special young women are and I know that the ladies took every word in,” stated Tequilla Whitfield Artist Program Director/Mentor for It’s Cool To Be Smart/Saving Our Daughters.

Each member spoke and gave their own personal insight on the issue and Q surprised the teens by removing himself from the panel to sit in the audience with the students, causing the gymnasium to fill with screams and excitement. After regaining control, the guys were able to participate in a Q&A session.

that’s wassup i’m proud of them for doing something so positive, but i agree with #1, something is definitely not going right with que. at first i thought everybody was just picking on him, but after seeing whats gonna happen on this weeks episode, i’m thinking que might need some evaluating

Good job. After the Chris Brown/ Rhianna fiasco young girls need to hear this message. I don’t care who screams it to the rooftops, it needs to be said especially with the amount of domestic violence that occurs in the black community.

When are they going to have a special on “Saving Our Sons”, smh. More of the subliminal female superiority agenda. It’s suitable that they have these clowns speaking to women because they’re all h*mosexuals anyway. They wouldn’t know what to say to a young black male. Bunch of damn coonish clowns, dressing like a biker gang from the hood. This is the reason why many of those young girls will grow up to be whorish and many of them will contract some form of sexually transmitted disease. The young sisters are imbued with a false sense of entitlement and a belief that they are above reproach. If anything, have an “Awareness Day” on violence period. Then again, MTV is behind it, so their thing is to promote h*mosexuality and the destruction of the male anyway. Then when a young black male blows away 4 cops or kills his sisters, people are incredulous.

ques problem wit the willie is because he has a secret crush on him….but i like that fact that men are speaking up on domestic violence…something that teens need to hear because the percentage on teen domestic violence is high…and this rihanna/chris scandal is making it even worse…because teens look up 2 them and prob. thinks that what they did was okay…and its not…and rihanna needs to step up about the situation as well…and chris brown too…

I heart Day 26’s music, but that group is so nutz. Speaking out against Domestic Violence is a good thing no matter who does it.

I agree with #2. Those kids should not be on their laps.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE day 26!! happy to see them doing something positive though cuz the show doesn’t always put them in the best light….ESPECIALLY que. the fact that they fight all the time does make their message against ANY kind of violence seem a lil counter-productive. however, maybe they are just trying to turn a negative into a positive. so i applaud them for that. i will be getting that cd! i heard it’s hot!

Judah allowing black women to have a sense of entitlement as their right is not propagationg man hatred. Stop being so insecure in your manhood to label a good deed with homophic slurs because you think its your “RIGHT” to smack a woman. Stop being an ignorant fool.

TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN THE WORLD SAYS NO!!!!!!

Okay so Im lost about some things that are being said. Willie slept with a tranny?! Que has a problem? What’s wrong with him? Sorry guys I dont watch the show. Either way, this is a good thing that they did. I hate that it’s taking this recent altercation to awaken awareness to our communties though. Way overdue.

OKAY am I the only one who thinks having pre-teens or jail bait on your lap when you are grown men at the “Saving Our Daughters” event is a tad bit wrong. I know its innocent but judging my the girls faces they should have said we’ll stand. I am just saying where is your publicist?

Day 26 is the absolute best. They are extremely talented and down to earth. People keep sleeping on them but those people are missing out. The hottest RnB group in the game right now. The 1st album is awesome & their 2nd album will be even better. Look out 4 their new album Forever In A Day in stores April 14th.

Instead of Them trying to speak out against violence they as a group need to get it together with the tension they have in the group with Q wanting to fight everybody in the group and people thinking they running the group…

@Visha

What I’m saying has nothing to do with smacking a woman. My mind is my greatest weapon. Due to the fact that black people are in captivity under another race, the captors refuse to train the minds of the men. That is my point and this is what you fail to see because the enemy has exalted you, as a black woman, over the men. If you women continue to delude yourselves into thinking that “domestic violence” will be solved by instructing girls that they are better than boys, without also instructing young men, you are in for a big surprise. Like I said, you will see more stories like the young man that murdered his sisters. If anything, there should be a forum to make both girls and boys understand how to speak with each other and resolve issues with their minds. To just cater to the women makes them think that they are above reproach, which will lead to their deaths. I gurantee it. Black women verbally and physically attacking men and then running to call 911 will end up seriously hurt or dead. Period.

@The_One

You need attention? Why are you worried about my status on this website, lmao? Im like a piece of thread in a busted weave…you just never know when I’ma pop up. All jokes aside, you represent exactly the type of entity that I speak against, the delusional black idiot that is threatened by any intellect outside of what is taught by this society. You’re angry at me because your mind is feeble and you can’t compete with what I’m saying. Deal with the topic at hand instead of the pathetic ad hominems. Like every other emotionally based creature, you deal with assumptions when learning, logic, and rationale are beyond your reach. Step your mental game up jacka$$, lol.
