Concrete Loop recently caught up with former Danity Kane star, D. Woods, she exclusively shared with us the first installment of her mixtape series, Independence Day: Volume 1. The mixtape is a part of a three-part series, all leading up to D. Woods breaking out with her first solo release.
You may remember last season on MTV’s Making the Band 4 D. and fellow group member Aubrey O’Day were fired from Danity Kane, but that is not stopping either one. D. has recently launched her new website and has eagerly been recording her solo album and we all know what Aubrey is doing. LOL.

I like the song…and I really like her, but I am not sure Diddy will let her out of Danity Kane. Diddy is a destroyer of careers, he doesn’t want to build people up, he likes to tear down, so he won’t make it easy on any of them.
There is only one artist that Diddy cares about, himself.

I agree with # 8 – EZI… I wish D. Woods much success I just know Diddy makes his artists go to hell and back before releasing them from their contracts. Look at the first band (the rap group) I think some of them are STILL locked into their contract, Babs just recently got released from hers I believe last Jan and that was like 5 years ago. At any rate, future artists/musicians please wiegh your options before jumping on board with Diddy/Badboy b/c your career may eventually come to a halt.

In essence she might be independent, but she is very much stuck to her contract with bad boy. Diddy just has a way of destroying careers, and sadly suge knight was right when he said that if you are on bad boy you are competing with your CEO

So why are Dawn and Drea so shocked that she and and Aubrey were just using the group as a stepping stone??? IF that really was the case. It seems that shoulda been kinda obvious from jump. I Like D woods, she has such a strong presence to me. But musically her voice doesnt match her. That music sounds way too light. i would love to hear her over some heavy soulful sh** and not that POP sh**. GIMME soul baby!

I honestly like D. Woods or her tv persona and I even like this song but after hearing her blend with the group I’m not feeling the solo D. Woods. I don’t see none of the DK girls seperately ever being as big as DK was collectively. These chicks HAD 2 #1 platinum albums, award nominations & sold out shows. I took my cousin to see them live and they are amazing on stage.
FYI — You can’t blame this disaster on Diddy. Aubrey was acting real FAMOUS and they weren’t even pulling in major $$ yet. She was acting like it was Aubrey featuring Danity Kane. D was just a casualty who had a chance to go back to the group but had 2 much pride to do so.
I bet we’ll see Diddy push Dawn into the solo lane next or maybe pair her up with Cassie…LMAO j/k

I can’t stand D.Woods, she couldn’t wait to get her ticket out of Danity Kane. That’s why her and Aubrey got along so well, because they were using Danity Kane just to get their names out there.
And this ON MY SIDE song just sounds like a Danity Kane song without Dawn and Aundrea’s voices lol. Her voice is so dead without the rest of the group, she has a backup vocal voice.
