Check out this trailer for the movie American Violet starring Alfre Woodard, Charles S. Dutton, Xzibit, and introducing Nicole Beharie.
Based on a true story set in the midst of the 2000 Bush/Gore Presidential election, the film tells the story of Dee Roberts (played by Beharie), a 24-year-old African American single mother of four who is wrongfully swept up in a drug raid. The film will hit theaters on April 17th.
SAMUEL TO PLAY ‘NICK FURY’ LONGTERM
Marvel Comics tapped Samuel L. Jackson to take on the role of comic character Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and nine other films:
Jackson’s deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit the Shield. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include “Captain America,” “Thor,” “The Avengers” and “The Shield” as well as potential sequels. Jackson worked out a deal with the famous comic company after he reportedly expressed his displeasure with the initial financial offer to reprise his role.
EDDIE MURPHY TO PLAY RICHARD PRYOR
Looks like comedian Eddie Murphy might have snagged his dream role. According to EW, he will be playing legendary comedian Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic written by Bill Condon:
Writer/director Bill Condon, who just completed his debut run as producer of the 2009 Academy Awards, is shopping his script Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? to the studio subsidiaries and independent distributors around town. Eddie Murphy is attached to star.
Sources tell EW.com that Fox Searchlight, the studio behind this year’s big Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire, is interested in the film.
Many of you may remember Eddie’s impersonations of Pryor in his classic 1987 stand up movie Raw.

Wow, “American Violet” looks like an incredible movie. I hope people go out to support it. And I’m happy to see Alfre Woodward, she is such a talented actress—she deserves an Oscar already. Also, happy to see new talent, that young lady, Nicole, seems incredible as well.
And I thought that Mike Epps was going to play Ricard Pryor? I wonder who messed up that opportunity?
And Eddie playing Richard is a bit weird. I know that Richard was a huge influence on Eddie, and that Eddie is one of the best comedians of our generation; but, that doesn’t mean that he’s the one that should play that role.
Oh well, I guess we’ll see if he has the chops to really pull that off properly.

I wont be supportting this movie. Based on a true story folks. That means alot of the story line is not real. All the facts will not be presented. Look at Chris Gardner. The film dosent tell you that he left his wife and kids to be with this women who he knock up while married. Or that he stayed with his mother while going through the program. Please dont get rallied up on what may be a group of lies. Yes things like wrongful arest happen, but just think what would happen if te people of a community got together and cleaned the neigborhood up before the police got there. Oh they must be waiting for Obama to give them the cue.
