On Friday, a judge sentenced Clifford ‘T.I.’ Harris to one year and one day in prison and ordered him to pay a $100,300 fine on weapons charges. He also was sentenced to some property forfeiture, supervised release for three years after his prison sentence, 365 days of home confinement (he has already served 305) and 1,500 hours of community service (1,030 served). He must also undergo drug counseling, cannot own firearms and must submit to reasonable searches and a financial audit.
The 28 year-old rapper/actor pleaded guilty last March after being arrested in October 2007 and charged with two felonies — possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.
He will have 30-60 days to report to prison, and the sentence of one year and one day could allow him to be released earlier for good behavior, if warranted.

LOL.at # 57. i think everyone puts on their sunday best when they go to court. they want to make a good impression…lol… don’t know if it makes much of a difference. Anyway, everyone say that he’s matured. Usually people who are faced with jail time or are serving jail time say a lot of things about how they’ve changed, blah blah blah but the truth comes out after the fact. Hopefully he don’t go back to his old ways because he’d be setting a poor example for his children. WE HAVE TO START THINKING ABOUT OUR KIDS AND HOW OUR ACTIONS MAY AFFECT THEM.

There is know doubt in my mind that TI has learned a lesson. He made a mistake. He has owned up to it. TI you are a good man and GOD is truly going to watch over you and your family. Tiny is a beautiful woman stay strong for your man and your children. GOD is good. TI you stay prayerful because he is truly in the answering business. Know one has to tell you what you did was wrong you’ve owned that ten times over. This will not kill you and your family it will make the bond that you and tiny have stronger. It’s just like the whole Chris Brown debacle, if one of my students had beaten someone, he would have been under the jail and the same people looking for excuses for Brown would have said that justice was served. Yes, T.I, has had this trial over his head for how long before he officially got sentenced. One thing we do have in common with the white community is this celebrity – ism disease where we come on blogs and support them no matter what they do.
I use to could not stand TI, but know I like him! He has in fact grown a lot! I understand his story more and I love that he televised his community service…Young people like myself need to see this! He really has done positive things we letting the world see his situation….Regardless of what intentions it was for him to do this (not sure publicity stunt to less the sentence), I still think this decision was a win-win! I can wait tiill Tuesday to see the young people he worked with and his final words!

I don’t know if all States are the same but in Florida, up to 365 days is the maxinmum sentence for County Jail where offenders to stay in your city and have fun in their dormitories, talking trash, playing cards, and sleeping. Sentences for State prisons must exceed 1 year – thus it is customary for Judges to impose sentences of 365 + 1 usually to repeat offenders. They are usually transported hundreds of miles away from home making life lonlier since relatives and those money offering hoochie girl-friends often can’t pay many visits. . I don’t know much about the legal system – just pick this up from my always-going-to-jail crack using nephews.
Everybody acting like he going away for 30 years or the electric chair. That man might be out by end of summer for real. He just gotta learn to roll with a better crew that he can semi trust. Im glad that he has a supportive woman behind him because that is hard to find these days. The show on MTV, Im glad it had an impact on some peoples lives hope it continues throughout the nation.

@ #33 Mel, how is that sentence too harsh, should he have just gotten a community sentence. Heck Keifer Sutherland went to jail for over a month and over Xmas for his DUI. He was lucky. He did get caught buying machine guns, not stealing some alcohol and cereal from the corner shop. If that was some regular guy , they would get 10 years min not 1, even over here with our ridiculous lax judicial system . Doesn’t have anything to do with colour. You get more time for tax offences. It’s not like he admitted it straight away, he changed his plea as a deal was worked out.
Hopefully this wil be a big lesson for him.
