NEWS/POLITICS: PRESIDENT ON 60 MINUTES / OAKLAND POLICE SHOOTING / ANTI-WAR DEMONSTRATORS HOLD PROTEST MARCH
Monday, March 23, 2009

President Barack Obama appeared on Sunday’s 60 Minutes to discuss the most pressing issues of his first two months in office, including the economy, the bailouts, his budget and America’s involvement in Afghanistan and Pakistan. ( CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO)
OAKLAND POLICE SHOOTING

Bryanna Berry looks on as her mother Elaine Walker cries after she set up a memorial outside of a building where Oakland police officers were shot and killed Sunday, March 22, in Oakland, California. Three Oakland police officers have died and a fourth was declared brain dead one day after a shootout with a man following a traffic stop. The suspect was also shot and killed by police.

According to authorities, 26 year-old Lovelle Mixon shot motorcycle officers John Hege, 41, and Mark Dunakin, 40, when they pulled him over during a routine traffic stop. He then opened fire with an AK-47 on SWAT team sergeants Ervin Romas, 43, and Daniel Sakai, 35, when they tried to arrest him at his sister’s apartment two hours later. SWAT team officers returned fire and killed Mixon. Family members say he went on a shooting rampage because he didn’t want to go back to prison.
ANTI-WAR DEMONSTRATORS HOLD PROTEST MARCH

Anti-war demonstrators carry model coffins in a protest march on Hollywood Boulevard to mark the sixth anniversary of the Iraq war ground invasion this weekend in Hollywood, California.
An estimated 91,000 Iraqi civilians have died since the invasion. The US has lost more than 4,200 military service members. While violence is reportedly at its lowest point since the US invasion, suicide bombers still terrorize the people of some regions of Iraq. President Barack Obama has ordered US combat troops home by September of 2010 and all US forces out by 2012

Let’s get one thing clear, I am not making an excuse for the bad judgement of ANY INDIVIDUAL. And for anyone to judge a person by their job title or who they are associated with is wrong. It is time for us to stop making excuses all the way around. Yes, police officers protect their own. But we don’t protect ours. We don’t know how to stand together in a positive productive way. We deal in reaction rather than proaction. The police are here to serve and protect. Law abiding citizens have nothing to fear. People who have a clear understanding of the purpose of law inforcement don’t put themselves in situations that they feel victimized by the police. I work for parks and recreation and I have worked with the current acting police chief, several officers and others who’s goal is to change the cultural of the city. And it is people like you, who get more pleasure from continuing the miscommunication and hatred of people, who are also reacting to what ALL of us have created.
Let’s start talking about educating people about how to be accountable for their own actions, that young man made bad decisions. And I don’t believe that he was a bad person, but at some point you have to acknowledge that he did something that gave the OPD only one choice. Read up a little more about what happened. He walked over to the officers, shot them, stood over one and shot him again. They didn’t even get a chance to run his license to find out he had a warrant! Then he fled the scene, indangered the life of his sister and cousin who had nothing to do with the situation. And for what, because he made bad decisions for years and didn’t want to go to jail?
To compare a police deparment to Hitler’s army is just ridiculous. It is people like you that make people feel it’s ok to not be properly informed and ignorant to the possible solutions. Solutions that begin with each individual changing.
So, yes, we need an overhaul. We need to overhaul ourselves. Start taking responsibility for our own lives. Live righteously, not self-righteously.

You said “law abiding citizens have nothing to fear.” Really? How do you explain Amadou Diallo, Robbie Tolan, Timothy Stansbury, Sean Bell, Oscar Grant and Adolph Grimes? They were law abiding citizens weren’t they? Then you later went on to say, “People who have a clear understanding of the purpose of law enforcement don’t put themselves in situations that they feel victimized by the police.” In case you did not know Robbie Tolan is the son of a former baseball players and he was shot in the driveway of his house. Did he put himself in a situation to be victimized by the cops?
Let me tell you a story: Last week I was in Bedford, PA (about 6 hours from NYC) on work assignment. Now, it is not an overstatement when I say there are no Black people in Bedford. On my way back, I got pulled over by a cop. I wasn’t doing anything wrong, following the speed limit and all, because I know how they get down in Bedford. I passed a cop on the highway and as soon as she saw me she started to follow me. She followed me for a bout 30 minutes. She eventually pulled me over and when I asked why the hell she pulled me over, she said even though indicated before I changed lanes to get in front of her, I did not do it 20 miles back. I said to her, “can I ask you a question and I mean no disrespect? But the only reason you pulled me over was because I am Black.” She swore up an down and apologized for me feeling that way but I let her know that she can save the bullsh!t. The point is in this racist country, Black people don’t have to do anything for the police to impose their will on them, for no reason other than the fact that “they can.”
See, you work for the racist bastards so you feel obligated to defend them at all cost. You are so mystified and confused, you see the victims as the offenders and the offenders as the victims. I would like to hear what you would say if it was one of your family members who was murdered in cold blood by these racist c*cks*ckers. I guarantee you’d be singing a different tune.

Sis, no disrespect to you, but I don’t think that you are aware of what “enlightened” is. Whoever is in power will be viewed as the bearer of the light. This is why, like I’ve already said, the black woman is programmed to hearken unto the philosophies of the white man. It’s not rocket science. If the Chinese were the top nation in power, you would hearken unto the Chinese man. If someone is speaking in regards to “enlightenment”, if they are not referencing how you can accrue power unto yourself, you should cease from listening to that person because they are an agent of whoever is already in power. You either rule over subjects or you are ruled over. There is no other form of existence. For so many black women to have so much sympathy for one of the branches of oppression shows how detached most of you are from your community and how anti-black male many of you are. It’s neither here nor there to me. I’m already FULLY aware of this phenomenon. I’m just waiting for the Most High to waken the minds of these so-called black men so they can get their heads out of the behinds of the black woman and the white male.
Furthermore, I do deal with the public so it is better to ask than assume. Based on your stance on this issue, you have nothing to offer the public other than the same stale, “assimilation through self-degradation” approach that has gotten the black community nowhere. Lastly, I notice from yourself and “Hollywood Blackout” this exaltation of the woman and a subliminal acknowledgment that the black woman has the same mindframe as the powers that be. Why would you believe that the police would be telling black males to do the same thing that “their mommas should’ve taught them”? If that is the case, that is verification that the children (particularly the black males) are being taught to be subservient and stay in their place, because that is all the police are for.

This is disgusting. I’m not talking about the story, I’m talking about the response. I read this post and the replies just re-instates my idea of many ppl who frequent this site: grown ass CHILDREN. What the f**k is positive about murder? Regardless of why it’s used as a tactic… it’s STILL MURDER. That’s one of the reasons why SOME black ppl can’t get anywhere significant and bring everyone else down w/ them: because their sorry asses are still living in the past and generalizing a group of ppl. Just like those that “oppress” them, they think like a child. Saying some BS things like the “cops deserve to die” and “all cops are bad” are just examples of how these ppl are ignorance personified. Ignorance is a deadly cycle and unfortunately God won’t rid you of it so it’s up to you to read some damn self-help books, grow the hell up mentally and act right. If you’re dumb enough to think a group of ppl deserve to die because of a few bad apples, grab a lynch then go to some KKK member’s house. I’m sure since ya’ll have the same values when it comes to stereotyping ppl, they’ll know what to do and you’ll understand/accept their logic enough not to judge them when they take care of your ass. Pricks… racism is racism and hate is hate. When the hell are some of ya’ll gonna wake-up and realize two wrongs DO NOT make a right especially when blaming/stigmatizing a whole group is partially the blame why the police and A.A. relationship is still bad?

Black Ice is a damned IDIOT!
Is simple compassion, human decency not an option for you? Get your damned facts straight. This homicide occurred because dude is a criminal period dot. I am happy that his family had the decency to atone his actions.
You have shown us that you are below coonery…
