POLITICS: PRESIDENT OBAMA ON JAY LENO / MORE PICS OF FIRST LADY’S HS VISIT

In case you missed it, President Barack Obama appeared on last night’s Jay Leno’s Tonight Show. Check out the full interview above, which allowed the President to explain the economic situation we are in and push his economic rescue plan for the nation. This is the first time a serving president has been on the show.

MORE PICS OF FIRST LADY’S HS VISIT

First Lady Michelle Obama welcomes guests to the Diplomatic Room of the White House on Thursday. Pictured with her (from left): choreographer/actress Debbie Allen, actress Tracee Ellis Ross, actress Phylicia Rashad, Google Vice-President Marissa Mayer and White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers.

The First Lady promoted the value of a college education and hard work, telling students that the people who doubted her when she was younger only encouraged her to aim higher: “That never stopped me. That always made me push harder.”

    She is such an inspiration.

  2. C.A.B

Pres. Obama was GREAT on the Late Show

It’s So Wonderful To See Positive Women Reaching Out..

  3. CokeBaby

Michelle is amazing. She’s such a great role model and more young women (particularly) need to look up to women like her for inspiration.

  4. barbara a. jackson

a college education is extremely important to have these days………..!!!

  5. I love everything Michelle represents. Education & hard work is definitely a must.

Those who doubted only pushed me to excel higher as well.

  6. I love our 1st lady.

Royalty is what comes to mind everytime I see her.

  7. miami_jay

    Damn Michelle is fine.

  8. lala

  9. Don't Argue With Me It's Just An Opinion

Some of the more “mainstream” sites were criticizing Obama for appearing so many places saying that being so personable has its down points, but I honestly don’t see how. Obama is very forthcoming with the country and makes everyone feel at ease about our turbulent times. I personally love how he does interviews and is everywhere doing things that normal people do. I love he and Michelle both.

  10. Let It Marinate

Even though there are times/issues I don’t agree with the Presient I must say that I am proud that he is our President.

I think that First Lady Michelle and President Obama are what this country needs now. I watched a segment on the news where Michelle was talking with the young girls about how important education is and what her goals were growing up and I felt that she was very sincere and genuine.

(Side Note: Debbie Allen is gonna be who she is no matter where she is, or who she meets huh? lol)

  11. lol @9 you’re right. Debbie Allen just does her own thing wherever she goes.

I think its cool that Pres. Obama was on Jay Leno. He continues to make himself relatable. That is going to keep his approval rating up. Although there are many people who disagree with his economic plan, there are few that just HATE him.

I also think that it’s great that First Lady Obama is taking such a strong role, and making things she’s passionate a part of her public agenda. She’s beautiful, and such a strong role model for young women in our country.

  12. whyaskwhy

Obama did apologize for the comment he made about the special olympics in this clip this morning which was good. I’m so proud of them.

  13. Remedy

how freakin awesome is our president?
he had me bout in tears over here
i’m so proud to have him as my president

and i just love how our first lady is so involved
with the people of this country, she is such an inspiration
and a true definition of what a strong woman is supposed to be

p.s. what the hell is debbie allen doing in that get up?
you are meeting the first lady not goin to the swap meet, put on some damn clothes

  14. CHICK W/A OPINION

I DO NOT APPRECIATE OUR PRESIDENT when he says comments like ” I was bowlin’ as if I were in the special Olympic”. As much as I love our FINE president, that comment was TRULY UNNECESSARY! As much as people be all over racial slurs directed at him, how bout somebody rep for the people with special needs.
I FOUND THIS COMMENT HIGHLY OFFENSIVE!!!!!

Disagree? Who cares? It’s my opinion.

  15. hood_shit

I love that the Obama’s are utilizing Black Hollywood….

  16. Pinkflame1983

I heart the Obamas. I must admit when as saw the pics of Obama at the game, on ESPN and on Leno, I thought “WTF is he doing?” Then I thought oh is he not supposed enjoy life? Plus I think a work life balance is healthy. Going on Leno was politics too. Good job so far, Pres. Obama.

Some butt heads on the Washington Post went as far as calling Obama an imbecile for being on ESPN. WTF? People are making this recession way worse than it has to be. We don’t have to stop smiling and be a nation of grumpy wumpys.

Plus, Obama has been on the job two months and I’ve seen he and his wife more than I saw Bush in eight years. We all know it takes at least six months to get a handle on a new job. He’s got four years to mess up.

All I’m gonna say is Debbie Allen is a fool for that outfit, lol. All she’s missing is a fanny pack. But you gotta love and respect people who don’t put on airs for anyone :)

  31. sprkl12000

Sorry..Debbie Allen looks like she should be picking up trash on the side of the freeway…she has better clothes that that mess…what an insult….you can be “who you are” without looking sloppy…..

  32. Cookie

I agree with all of you….the Obama’s are showing how things SHOULD be done. Once they’re done with, they will defintely be a hard act to follow. I just love them and I can’t wait to see what’s next!!!

  33. LINDA

First lady Michelle you make us so proud to be African American woman. Love you so much. You are such an inspiration. Hope we needed is finally in the white house. African American family all the way around. Mr President thank you for showing all these brothers you can reach the top of the world with a sister right by your side. You guys are showing and have showed the world that yes we can and yes you are Head of the world. First Lady hope the girls are doing well with the transition. Don’t forget the Easter hunt. God Bless you guys.

  34. greta

I am so proud of our Prez and First Lady ,Some people had a problem with him going on the tonight show I do not see anything wrong with it Im very glad him and michelle is representing…. God Bless Them

  35. pms

MO stands like a WNBA player.
    Traci Ross is representing sophistication.

  36. I guess the other shoe always seem to drop

It’s good to see that they go where everyone else (the media, and people that don’t live there) don’t, that think they only thing exist is crime, drugs etc. w/e

anyways good to see she embracing our city, as much as the people that live there do. that’s wassup.

  37. ms_onyx_blaque

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!! CAN’T GET ANY BETTER, BABBY!!!!!!

  38. ms_onyx_blaque

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!! CAN’T GET ANY BETTER, BABY!!!!!!

  39. Bohwe

Tracee Ross is her mother’s daughter. Diana Ross is the baddest female ever. She taught her daughters to have class and dignity. Remember, Diana Ross packaged herself in a way that could get her the men with Real Dough. So, Tracee gets that from her mama. Whereas Mrs. Obama, I truly believe her whole life has been about education, corporate law, that other things became less important. And now, the white house staff is helping her out.

Debbie Allen can wear whatever she wants, she is an artist, and artistic people think outside the box. As long as Debbie was there to do something positive, who cares about her attire.

And Phylicia Rashad- i love her, she is definitely a Queen.

  40. WhatIThinkIs

“That never stopped me. That always made me push harder.”

    AKA

    “shake dem hatas off!”

  41. Lady Fabulous

This makes me love Michelle even more. And to you little kids complaining about Debbie’s wardrobe, it’s not always a fashion show. People are inspired by who she is and what she does, not her clothes. When you’ve accomplished what she has, then you run your mouth.

  42. Lupe

She is such an inspiration.” You people are so dumb! Every “First Lady” does that stuff all the time! She ain’t special!

  43. ZINA

President Obama has much poise and calmness to himself. His persona makes him like no other president we ever had. He carries his himselt dilegently and respectfully while still holding on to the same roots and morals he grew up on. People of all race and backgrounds can relate to him simply because he is a person that has/had the same issues and/or problems that every day people experince. He knows how to humble himself around those that are less fortuante, he knows how to empathize to those that are in need, he knows how to show strength and leadership when millions of people are relying on a person to take charge. Obama is what we needed and what the american HOPE is standing for.

I wish him and his family all the best of blessings and pray that the lord conitues to guide this man towards leading the american people to victory in anything that we do!!!!

  44. Elle'

I am so happy President Obama is keeping it real and connecting with main street. For First Lady Michelle Obama you are such a great role model! MiMi Fierce is in full swing in this picture!

  45. HOLLEYWOOD

  47. BARACK OBAMA SUPPORTER

THE OBAMA’S ARE SO POSITIVE AND REFRESHING! MICHELLE OBAMA IS EXACTLY THE TYPE OF ROLE MODEL YOUNG BLACK WOMEN NEED..THEY ARE TRULY A GOD SEND!!

  48. I so excited by the energy the Obamas are bringing to our country. We’ve needed this for far too long.

  49. Zion

    @Greta,

Remember girl, last week, they had a problem with him doing too much, now it looks like he’s doing too little. He’s always finding innovative ways to reach Americans. The level of hate is just uncalled for. I can’t get angry because person x over here came up with something different. Just keep him in prayer. God has him in office for a purpose.

  50. Erin

Debbie Allen idk what you were thinking. Your meeting with First Lady Michelle who looks fierce every time she walks out the door and you look like that!!!

  51. Daisha

To whoever said artist dress like that is lying to themselves. I am majoring in art and we do not dress like Debbie Allen is in this photo. & no its not about a fashion show but what you wear reflects who you are. And it looks like she does not care about herself even though we all know she does.

I love Michelle Obama I want to be like her when I grow up! lol

  52. jason

people you just don’t know; traps and snares have been set for this president. now the budget office and its new figures on the projected debt in the many trillions. that gw bush and the gang left behind. then you got china saying ‘hey’ what about the trillion you owe us? and the g-20 saying no thanks we won’t stimulate our ecomonys w/ money we are doing ok. you [US] are on your own. you got them repubs on the sunday talk shows all primped and primed selling their same ol we want tax cuts and capital gains breaks agenda, while slamming a president who thinks everybody is his buddy. getting real LAX on the talk show around the good ol boys and the good fella’s and saying stupid shit. a white told me “yea just let him [obama] keep doing talk shows]. prez i love you, but damn; shit you been saying is indefensible at times plus defending dodd and all them crooks. them red states thats turning down stimulus money just look how they treat their poor. a republican state is a state of the have and the have mores and to hell w/ the rest let it trickle down on you peasants if anything. 47 million people who are republicans are not hurting.WHY? they have loaded up the bounty by raiding the store. EXAMPLE; G.W. BUSH one of his first agenda projects was to DUPE you people into buying homes, r-e-m-e-m-b-e-r his call to action for home ownership GETTING PEOPLE INTO MORTGAGE BUYING. knowing that these banks were predatory lenders you folks were geared for failure for falling for the okey doke. you been bamboozled roll tape if you don’t believe it bush got this crap started. red republican states don’t give a damn about the have nots they say to hell w/ you black people we got the lateeno’s now. somebody tell me now the general accounting office . the people who cut the checks don’t know where they are sending the money to . or is it out the front door right back thur the back?

  53. THISIS ME

PLEASE FORGIVE ME BUT OUR FIRST LADY IS SO FINE!!!!

  54. 1*STEP*AHEAD

    @ JASON
UNFORTUNATELY YOU HAVE A POINT…I WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THE FIRST FAMILY IN MY PRAYERS. THERE ARE MANY WHO HAVE AN AGENDA BUT GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY SO IN THE OUTCOME.

  55. vanessa

  56. RUSH

All This Talk About College Education And They Are Not Making It Easy For Students Who Do Want To Go To College But Dont Have The Money, Who Have To Pay For School By Themselves But They Want Make Something Of Themselves And They Can’t Because The Government Makes It Hard For Them. Lets Be Real Here, The U.S. Wants To Act Like They Care About Education & They Really Don’t

  57. ChicDcChick

Anacostia Indians! Thats my old school, I see it still looks a hot mess, but I live right down the road from there, and I hope to goodness they showed her how it looks around there for the students, That area is general needs alot of help period.

  58. ChicDcChick

    @ Rush

DC is excellent College grants and what not for DC resident’s I don’t know about other places, but DC residents can get grants up to 10,000 just to pay out of state differences because we only have one Public College to choose from in DC, and since we aren’t a state, or a large place students are more likely to go to school outside of DC. They give out two other grants just for students who attend HBCU’s and public colleges. So they do care, but its all about the student wanting to go to college here in DC.

There really is no option but to pay for your own schooling, or get grants, if it was up to the government to pay for students then we all would feel the pinch in our pockets, the money has to come from somewhere.

  59. Angel

O my goodness, strong black women advocating higher education and people listening!

We have reached the promise land!!! Free at last….
