Tanning salon? A Black person? Really? What’s next sun screen? What is really going on with my Black folks? I am looking at these Black people who are trying so hard to be white and it is sad. I can only imagine how they look to a white person. Hmm… how is going to a tanning salon trying to be white? I understand white people do it, but if youre DARKENING your skin… it would lean closer to being dark/black than light/white.

i love the simmons sisters! hope their show actually comes back on. didn’t know vanessa and adrienne were cool like that. maybe they’re working on a project together. as for angela, i love the shoes and nail polish. she is always cute, simple fab to me. why are so many folks surprised that some blacks tan? it is what it is. i think tanning is a terrible practice for anyone of any race…but hey, i’m not shocked by anyone’s decision to do it either. *shrugs*
i’m going to have to ask the same question. Inquiring minds just want to know why she is tanning & what for? Is there something that other people of color don’t know about tanning when you have natural melenin in our skin. Things that make you say mmmmmm.

Black people do need to wear sunscreen. I got sunburned like two years ago at virginia beach so yeah. She may have just been getting her nails done but to be honest I like she may have gotten a spray tan..she could have.. she is light.

One of my closest friends is very, very light skinned (not mixed) and she tans. I don’t see anything wrong with it…. like I always say, “do you”
For one she could have been doing her eyebrows, dropping off flyers for an event, so many things! Stop hating in her. How are they trying to be white? Living good shopping, having fun is only for white people now??? Also black people use sun screen/block to prevent the harmful rays from damaging our skin…melanoma aka skin cancer??? I don’t know why it’s strange that black people go to tanning salons. When we go to the beach on vacation, do we not like to get a bronzed tan? I’m black, and I go and get spray tanned on occasion- especially if I’m taking a trip to a sunny location and will be showing a lot of skin. Tons of black people get spray tanned- especially people like Jada and Gabrielle Union, because it makes your skin glow and gives you a really even complexion. I get tons of compliments on it, and it hides a world of skin flaws. Hope this insight is helpful to you all.
The Simmons sisters are great role models but what is Angela doing in a tanning salon, yes she’s light but she surely doesn’t need a tan! She’ll get darker in the summer anyway. Sometimes I do keep my legs in the sun to darken them because theyre yellow lol and I hate the jaundice look, but I’d never go to a tanning booth. WTF

Well, a white skin is more susceptible to skin cancer if exposed to the sun for long periods of time. Therefore, white people have to darken their skin as protection. Black people are people of the sun, we were originated from a continent that sits on the Equator, where the sun is at its hottest, so we don’t need any extra protection from the sun’s rays. If you were to watch any sport that is played outdoors i.e. cricket, you’ll see the white players with all kinds of sun screen on their faces. They cannot endure direct sunlight, which proves my theory that they are all vampires…lol. Nowadays it is more of societal thing or a status thing for people to get tans; furthermore, white people have come to realize that a dark skin looks better than a pale, white one..lol.

He wnated to be darker and until I made coments on how dangerous it was he stopped going. Also it’s L.A. it could be a salon that offers manicures, massages..Hell my gym has tanning beds in it…And Dukesman ALL people No matter their color should WEAR SUNSCREEN! Don’t be ignorant! Just because you have more mealanin in your skin–you can still get CANCER and the sun ages the skin–ANY reputable doctor will tell you that!! Protect your skin people!!

8#. DUKESMAN2000, sorry but I think you are way off on this one. I am a female with light skin and i use tanning lotion on my legs b/c my legs won’t tan normally in the sun. I do not think that I am white nor do I desire to be white. Maybe the girl just wanted to even out her complexion. I know other black females that have used lotions as well and you wouldn’t be able to tell that they tanned b/c it looks natural.

When I was in the military I travelled all over the globe. I have been to Middle East i.e Iraq, Bahrain, Dubai etc. Now these places are so hot (120 degrees at 12 noon) it was if we’d landed in hell. As hot as it was I wore no sunscreen and I certainly wasn’t looking for any tanning salons…lol. I saw none of the natives wearing suncreens either but as soon as you hit the beaches you saw white people using protection. All I have to say is… these Black folks on this blog saying they use sunscreen and get tans, that’s all fine and dandy but you dont have to; you do it because you want to. White forlks on the other hand have to.

I agree. I asked this black chick why she went to tanning salons, and she told me it was to help out her acne. Apparently it “dries” up this skin. So, I guess there are lots of reasons why people go. Wont’ catch me there, though. I prefer not to cook in a cancer box….
