Angela looks really cute and casual. And for some peoples information they do way more than tanning at Tanning Salons. They do manicure and pedicures, eyebrows, sell handbags and clothes, facials, etc.

I believe Angela probably was tanning. I’m black, and I tan. In fact, I just got back from the tanning salon. I’m very light-skinned, and I could be in the sun all day, and still get no color, so I go to tanning salons. The people don’t look at me crazy or anything. The girls that work there are so nice. So, no, it’s not crazy for a black person to go tanning.

HOW DENSE WE ARE! Black people tan! I personally tan every chance I can. I’m light-skinned and tan to get a beautiful glow. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and the blacker the better.

lots of blacks go to tanning salons–I have several friends that do/did. They were light-skinned blacks and they wanted to be bronzy, brownish, caramelish during the summer months. You can’t be walking around showing a pale, pasty ass in a bikini.

Skin is skin…it will darken or burn. I’m chocolate-colored and every time I go to the beach I get a really pretty glow as my skin gets darker. And I feel that it evens out my skin more. So, it’s not just a white/light skin thing. Jeez, dark skin is not made of teflon and it still benefits from some sun-exposure. In the same way, just because darker skin is not as prone to wrinkling, it doesn’t mean that it’s immune to skin cancer…so, we do have to keep our sun exposure to a minimum and use sunscreen.
Hey #66, I’m curious about your statement. What exactly do lighter black people do, that us “darkies” just don’t understand (glow, perform magic, do better on tests)? I mean, we’re all black; it’s not like lighter-complexioned black people are living in an alternate universe or anything. Hell, I know a few darker-complexioned parents that have birthed “light babies”. So, yea, we “get” you. Also, I know more than a few darker-complexioned black people that don’t live in the ghetto. Just an aside-#8, you’re probably a white person so you wouldn’t know this-but Blk people can get skin cancer, too. Although it is rare. In fact, when skin cancer is diagnosed in Black people-it’s usu a lot harder to treat and more fatal than w/ other segments of the population (for a muriad of reasons).

Plenty black folks tan please believe! Me and my sister went together before in ATL. We come in all shades, some deep brown, some not so much. It’s not a big deal!

A tanning salon? Why? And don’t give me the excuse of wanting an even tan. I hope young brown girls of all shades DO NOT start adopting this trend. We are NOT Caucasians! We produce chemicals that are NOT produced by Caucasians. That is what makes us different. The sun activates our pituitary glands and our pineal gland. The only thing Angela is doing is INCREASING her chances of developing skin cancer! Please do your research so that you can count your lucky stars for having melanin. I teach my daughters this and we do not use spf anything on our bodies.

Use sunscreen I am African, our skin can handle the sun, however, when you look at older people in Africa you can see the toll sun damage has had through the years…

Tanning beds will age your skin, DON’T DO IT, RECONSIDER, read some literature, you’re not going to love it, but if you do, f**k it.
